Private Paper and Fire

Karraala bowed slightly in front of [member="Wu Yeoh-Mei"]. "Master." She purred. Then she noticed how shakey the woman was. "Are you alright?"

Once reassured, she gives the report, detailing what had been done. She ended with: "This is as prepared as I can get them without at least a week of training." Her ears grinned. "They are in for a surprise now." Her tail swished excitedly. She couldn't wait to show her master her martial prowess.

"I shall be fine, it is just using some force techniques can be difficult to slip in and out of." She was looking at her padawan though and she was going over a few of them with a smile. The defenses themselves were as best they could be and she wasn't sure they could do any better inthe time they had. A battle might not be massive but it would still be intense when she heard the first sounds there. "Did you hear that?" She said it and moved towards the walls and could see them coming... not fast and not really like they were expecting it. She imagined a scout had reported what was happening but doubted they were going to outright attack. First would be intimidation tactics and the second part would be trying to force their way in. It was about getting the village to stand up as much for themselves as it was stopping the wrongs. Wu moved over by her padawan and spoke. "Alright the plan will be to try and encourage we can't stay here all the time so they will need to be able to handle the future encounters but we can work to try and even it. This new leader for instance we can try to persaude and if need be arrest. Always go for the peaceful option first and then tr to not kill them." She gave a nod and was moving towards the gate but she spoke more. "Strive for peace but always be prepared in case of a fight."

Karraala nodded, disappointedly. “I understand, master.” The initial excitement of hearing the begin of the attack was quickly interrupted by her masters explanation that they would not involve themselves beyond support. Nonetheless, she agreed with the strive for peace. And she certainly was prepared to fight.

The padawan strode at master [member="Wu Yeoh-Mei"] 's side. She didn't even have to shorten her steps... much. Her ears swivelled towards the sounds of the crowd that waited further ahead.
The Karta'Esh saw tension all around her, which was understandable. Most people were worried, one or two seemed as eager as herself. As they arrived at the battlements, she looked over the wall and saw the assembly on the other side. “So this is them.” She murmured. From what she could see, they were not that impressive.

Wu was looking at them and they were more looking like brigands... clothing in various states of armored... some with blades and some wih blasters but not a lot of them. She was more seeing this as a raiding party as opposed to a group who got themselves uniforms or adopted tactics. Wu was motioning to her padawan to move in while she rushed to a place she could begin meditating and she wanted to check it out as she felt more minds all around her. She sat down and crossed her legs allowing the sounds around herself to become muted... allowing her mind to expand outwards and breathing in slowly the power of the force itself... she pushed it outwards and started to touch the minds of others when she was working to inspire the villagers and she was going for doubt... going for unease and erosion of the resolve of the ones attacking them as they went for the gates to try and break through it.

Karraala was split between watching [member="Wu Yeoh-Mei"] on the one side, as she sat down, and the attackers as well as the villagers on the other side. She did notice a change in the ambience. The villagers stood straighter, for one thing. She felt it herself, too. Already proud and confident, she felt even more alert, even more ready.

With a last look at master Wu, the Karta'Esh sprinted for the battlements, right over the main gate. Daring a peek, she saw them trying to break it down, but the wheelless carts were safely put against it, just as she instructed.
Further off, a few of the bandits were lieing on the ground, or attempting to get up with twisted ankles. The grass traps had done their job.
A nudge in the force made her pull back her head, suddenly. A shot of glowing red energy passed the battlements. Badly aimed, but nonetheless dangerous if she had been in the way.
It made her question the wonders of technology. Sure, an arrow would kill her just as easily, but... those didn't go just as fast.
But the energy bolts went both ways. The village people were fighting back. It seemed to surprise the bandits enough to break the attack. Soon, they retreated into cover. Karraala would bet they had expected an easy victory.

Would the leader come out to talk now? Would they give up and leave? The Padawan looked over the battlements once more to see what would happen.

The jedi master continued to feel and push the force... her mind expanding outwards as she knew the battle was going to be a surprise... she felt it from the villagers as the bandits stopped for a moment and then went into cover. They didn't have the best position going at the walls and being under the high ground..... but they did have more skilled fighters... maybe. The jin were different then most and they were warriors all usually even the lowest of them. She was feeling the bandits as they moved up more careful and taking positions to try and overwhelm sections of it. Their minds were there and she could touch them while breathing in deeply with the force and pushing it outwards to make their shots go wider the they might have done normally and the guns were heavier in their grips. The few villagers who could take some shots popped them in the shoulders to some cheers that they were defending themselves.

The attackers got more and more nervous. That must have been her masters influence, Karraala thought. Soon, they didn't dare to peek their heads out anymore, all except one, who did in fact sneak closer to the gate.

Karraala's ears perked up once more. Was that the leader? His armour was better than the others, and he seemed more certain of himself than the rest. Instead of attacking wildly though, he only assessed the situation, then retreated again.

Moments later, the rest of the bandits retreated as well, taking the wounded with them. The villagers cheered. The padawan on the other hand, did not believe it was over that easily.

While the villagers started celebrating, she went back to her master for a moment. "I don't think that was all, Master. But I think I have seen their leader. He is not stupid. If we are lucky, he will try to negotiate, but I think he will rather try something covert, next."

"I concur." When she had felt them retreat she hadn't just stopped meditating... no she had stayed with it until they were a fair distance and her padawan she could feel was near her. Wu opened her eyes and she could feel her mind and body have some fatigue... before she hadn't been having to focus on so many minds and mixing the emotions as she was keeping track of it all. She stood up and held her hand against the wall to steady herself but breathed deeply to herself for several moments. "I think you might have been right... I felt a stronger mind... still there but it wasn't as quick to give in." She was looking at her padawan when she looked up and was ready for anything now standing as tall as her small frame could. "We will give chase at least we'll be able to find where they are and if they are still demoralized we can try to convince them to break up. Take erode his support then he should be in a better position to negotiate."
