GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Paire tree
Origins: Bothawui
Other Locations: Paire trees are commonly found on many midrim and core worlds as a decorative tree, though most that are planted in more “civilized” areas have the sharp thorns removed that Paire’s mature with around their trunk.
Classification: Tree
Average Growth Cycle: It typically only takes about 30 to 35 years to fully grow. The tree starts as a small nut, typically dropped from the branches of a fully mature Paire tree. It will then begin to grow roots deep into the ground, then begin to sprout and grow it’s trunk. As it grows upward, rings of spikes begin to appear around the trunk. They are green and easily malleable in their adolescent stages, but turn a deep brown color and are much stronger and sharper as the tree matures.
Viability: As far as trees go, Paire trees are relatively easy to take care of. They only need a moderate amount of rain water to keep growing, a decently nutrient rich soil, and about 10 to 12 hours of sunlight a day. They reproduce pretty easily as well, as it only takes the seed in their nuts to be planted deep enough in the soil to take root in.
Description: Paire’s are generally pretty aesthetically pleasing to the eye. This is why you’ll see them being used as decorations for manners and even some parks on civilized worlds. Of course, removing the thorns that typically grow with the tree is normal practice for Paire’s planted in these civilized areas. Outside of the thorns, the other thing to adorn the trees are oval shaped, dark green leafs that contrast the brown bark of the trunk.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Average Height: 18m to 20m tall.
Average Length: .5m to 1.5m wide.
Color: Paire’s trunk is an unremarkable, light brown color with a deeper brown grain. The leaves, starting out as a deep green most of the seasonal year, will change to a pink color during a couple of months in the fall months. The thorns start out a light green color, then turn deep brown when they’ve fully matured.
Nutritional Value: The small nuts that grow along these trees branches can be used as a quick, protein filled snack.
Toxicity: None.
Other Effects: Paire’s sap is used in some alcoholic drinks as a honey substitute.
Distinctions: The most distinctive part of Paire, once it’s thorny rings are removed, are the time of year when the leaves turn that brilliant pink. Rarely is this color seen on trees in the core and midrim. Because of this, Paire’s are planted throughout the galaxy as decorative trees, even if they don’t have many uses beyond that.

Strengths:
Short growth time, for a tree: For a tree, Paire’s don’t take that long to grow. Most families can buy the seeds necessary to grow a couple of these trees and plant them with plenty of time for their grandchildren to grow up enjoying them.
Aesthetically pleasing: Even when the leaves aren’t pink, the tree does have a pretty look to it. When the leaves do turn pink, there aren’t many more pretty trees in the galaxy than Paire’s.

Weaknesses:
Safety measures: For these trees to be accessible and safe for the general public, their thorns must be removed. They are sharp and have been know to cut deep into the hands of a child who put their hands on a non-pruned tree. The thorns are even sharp enough and pointy enough to take out an eye.
Pleasing for the eye..not much else: While Paire’s do have a small other use as a honey substitute, they aren’t being planted for much more than aesthetic purposes more often than not.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Paire’s have been a staple of parks and manners throughout the galaxy as a symbol of a planet’s ability to import fauna for the express purpose of beautifying their planet. The natives of Bothawui have revered the trees for their beauty as well for much of their history. They even have a holiday centered around the changing of the colors, called The Dance of the Lilies, that supposedly symbolizing the changing of the times. Many of these trees are also planted at Caer Badru, providing a wonderful meditation place for the witches of the Mandragora.
