OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a pre-republic era force sensitive species for Baruuk (inclusively and lore reasons)
  • Image Credit: Image taken in Warframe [X]
  • Canon: N/A
  • Links: Kwa
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Padj'udushi
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Kwa genetic experiments and enhancement
  • Home Planet: Unknown terrestrial Planet deep in the Unknown Region
  • Average Lifespan: 150-300 Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: At Prime: Planetary; Now: Semi-Unique
  • Description: At a quick glance, the Padj'udushi are human. They share many of the same traits and look almost identical to humans except for a few minor tweaks.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I or II
  • Average Height of Adults: 180 cm
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Pale tan, other shades similar to humans
  • Hair color: Vary greatly, though typical natural hair colors mirror those of humans.
  • Distinctions: Eyes glow based on force sensitivity. The stronger the sensitivity, the brighter they glow. Eye colors also change and vary based on force alignment (red/yellow for dark side, gray/white for neutral, green/blue for light side). Despite many years of life, they aged very slowly and often seemed much younger than their age. All had small pieces of metal embedded in their skin laid out in different patterns, and most had what appeared to be burn marks
  • Races: Markings and layout of metal adornments worked to signify clans.
  • Force Sensitivity: All
Strengths:
  • Warrior Culture - The Padj'udushi were part of a caste system that put strength at the height. Were among the best combatants on the battlefield in their prime.
  • Transferable Consciousness - Could transfer their consciousness to other bodies if the target's mind was weak enough (or non-existent, such as a clone etc.), then return at will. Essentially, they could infiltrate enemies simply by controlling one of their weaker-minded workers. Some could also use this to develop telepathic abilities.
  • Versatile - The species as a whole specialized in many different fields of science, development, and economics.
Weaknesses:
  • Small Population - Long life-spans and advanced technology saw a lack of necessity for population growth, keeping their numbers small. Many couples stopped at 1-2 children, stagnating the population.
  • Vulnerable when Separated - When their consciousness was in another body, their main body had to remain safe. If the host body died, the consciousness would die as well.
  • Elitist - The culture of the Padj'udushi was based on strength, where the few stronger clans ruled the more numerous weaker clans. This caused racism and contempt from both sides of the spectrum, and moving up in their established caste system was nearly impossible due to notions of worthiness through combat.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivorous; have similar diets to humans, mostly comprised of sea food.
  • Communication: Spoken language, natural telepathic abilities
  • Technology level: Very advanced, technology derived from Kwa that created them.
  • Religion/Beliefs: No significant religion, most followed Kwa teachings apart from the few folk tales and stories they created themselves.
  • General behavior: Society put great emphasis on honor and warrior spirit. Mates would be determined by strength, often through dueling (male and female alike).
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
During the early years of Kwa expansion, they came across humans. Many of the more scientific members of Kwa society took an interest in a project to create a powerful force sensitive species to protect them should war break out among more powerful societies than their own. In their endeavors, they decided Humans would be an excellent baseline for experimentation, being numerous and relatively simple in physiology. After many trials and many more errors, the Kwa scientists finally discovered a method to create masses of their accomplishment, dubbing the new species Padj'udushi.

As the population of the Padj'udushi grew, both through mating and the Kwa creating more, their society became more intelligent and cultural, taking it's own style that had never been seen before. (OOC note: Styles of dress, architecture, and social structure are similar to real world ancient orient societies.) These advancements were not solely cultural, however. They developed weapons, trained in the force, and many spent their lives advancing military might and strategy.

As the Kwa continued their experiments, they discovered that the Padj'udushi had a talent to, through the force, transfer their consciousness between bodies at will. With this newfound information, the Kwa created training regiments for infiltration should the need arise, knowing the skill could come in handy for information gathering and assassination. Once the population reached an acceptable level, the Kwa ceased their creation efforts and began focusing on expansion once again, leaving the Padj'udushi to their devices, though keeping a constant watch on them if they should ever need their help.

The Padj'udushi quickly divided into clans based on markings that varied based on the facility or process that brought about their creation. There were many brutal wars, the warriors of each clan fighting for supremacy, until a system was put in place of a civilized duel to determine the head clan. The greatest warriors would fight in a tournament, and the winning clan would become the rulers of the other clans. Each clan held different values and beliefs about how the Force should be utilized, coming to similar conclusions about Dark and Light as the Sith and Jedi, though with variations due to their obvious separation from the rest of the known galaxy. Many clans specialized in different techniques, ranging from medicines to engineering to even storytellers and lore-keepers.

With this system came a much more peaceful era in which members of society focused much more on the arts than warfare, using their abilities in the force to create dances, sculptures, artworks, and various musical styles and instruments. This peaceful time began the population stagnation that was eventually the downfall of the species.

After a couple thousand years of peace, during the rule of the Rakatan Empire, the population was struck by a plague. It swept quickly through major cities, destroying entire clans in a matter of months. To those few that remained scattered and primitive, it became known as the Keisan, or Reckoning. The Padj'udushi managed to avoid the gaze of the Rakatans, but their very own people on their own planet became their undoing.

Unbeknownst to the rest of the population, one of the weaker but more intelligent clans was planning to take the throne by default, killing off the other clans in a great genocide. Their bio-weapon worked exactly as intended, but they had made it too effective. The plan backfired and ended up destroying the entire species -- save a few outlying families -- with one simple strain of disease.

Due to their consciousness being tied to their real bodies, they were unable to escape into indigenous lifeforms on their planet, and thus had no way out. The few that survived were reduced to tribal life, living off the world they now inhabited in small secluded family groups that gradually devolved into vicious beasts, corrupted by the Dark Side of the Force during their struggle for survival. Their world remains yet to be found in the unknown regions of space, but the only hint left of the creatures they once were is their glowing red eyes and distinct markings of what used to symbolize clans.

If it would be better I can just take it out. It isn't a planet in lore or otherwise created. I just thought it would look better at the time if the planet had a name

I had a moment with the Transfer Consciousness ability as it's a very 'active' sort of force related power, but I see this is an engineered species. The usual 'can't do to a PC without permission, etc etc' caveat.

I have one question tho, since this does seem to be force related- what happens to them if they end up in a null force area while in a different body? Any effect?

Sorry was out of town when you posted that.

Seeing as the ability is force-based, if the force is pulled from an area while the consciousness is in another body, it will work the same as the Essence Transfer ability with varying outcomes based on force strength, strength of will, etc., the usual things that determine how force powers affect the users and targets. If the mind and will of the user is stronger than those of the target, the user will take over the mind and use the body as their own. If not, the host body will reject the spirit and send it into obscurity. In both cases, the soul cannot return to its original body and the practitioner's body will begin to rapidly decay as the Force consumes it. I know this sounds weird as the force is absent, but it happens while the force leaves the area as the flow is interrupted and essentially clogs in the body and forces its way out with the rest, taking the body with it. I think that makes sense.

Hope this answers your question to your satisfaction. :)
