Padawans Gwrtheyrn v Ikki Ike

As the combatants enter the arena, a silence falls over the audience of Jedi gathered to watch the tournament. They are guided to the raised platform in the center of the room, and each will turn toward the end of the room and bow their respects to Grand Master Thurion Heavenshield.
They are reminded of the virtues of a fair fight, of honour, valour and respect.
When this is completed, the sound of a gong echoes through the Dojo, a sign for the combatants to salute each other and take stance.

Gwrtheyrn stepping into the arena took extra care to observe each of the pre-battle courtesies, such rituals were important not just for the sake of decorum but also in that they elevated the affair to a civilized exercise.

There had been some trepidation as to what he should actually wield during the tournament. His ancestral greatsword was out of the question, such a weapon was simply too dangerous to swing around haphazardly. Training sabers were also out of the question. While the glowing blades were optimal for such an exercise Gwrtheyrn did not like the idea of a near weightless weapon, not to mention that he had no idea how they actually worked which made him slightly nervous.

In the end he had come across a particular tree in the environs of the Silver Jedi HQ which seemed to possess a light spongy wood. Cutting down a particularly large branch Gwrtheyrn had whittled himself his own variant of a training sabre. Standing roughly the same height as his true blade the wooden proxy lacked the edges and width of the original. Even so the poet would have to be careful, most species were simply not built to deal with the kind of tectonic strength wielded by his kind.

Thinking his opponent would be a pushover however would be a great mistake. Gwrtheyrn knew that the inhabitants of the galaxy - humans particularly were cunning and resourceful. Add to that the fact that Ikki was almost certainly more proficient with the force than he was and it seemed a lot more even than at first glance.

Gwrtheyrn brought his blade to shoulder height, the tip of the weapon pointing down towards Ikke's chest. Such a stance would allow him to react quickly and with wide defensive or offensive sweeps based on his opponents opening strike.

She wasn't usually one for fighting but as Ikki listened to the advice her cousin had given her... she couldn't turn down a chance to practice with others. It helped that she had something not many could plan against while she was sitting there in one of the locker rooms on a bench. Before heading out she had stopped and waited enough to prepare. Her black gloves with carbonite tips for the sanctum slicewires was there but she had other spools of wire in her belt and gloves.

The multi-weapon with its cudgel gleaming on her belt as it was not built for someone her size and was nearly as large as her thigh. Extra spools of wire with diamond shaped carbonite tips were as the ready. Her lack of a practice saber or lightsaber from not learning with a master yet. She was reaching out and feeling where the room was while securing her top and checking the krayt dragon straps covering the other scars she had gotten from Felicity Mason. The little princess and her had been in a brutal fight that cost her some fingers she had bitten off.

Now Ikki was ready and secured her headpiece as the little frills on it before she was walking towards the room. Her senses not picking up the people but the direction as she entered and moved to the raised platform looking more like one of the initiates before she climbed up onto the platform clasping her hands in front of herself as she turned to bow and looked around. The quick flicking of eyes as she slowly let her gloves prepare with the small carbonite tips unspooling out to dangle then touch the floor.

Then she was looking up and at the large opponent as her eyes remained pools of dark honey. She didn't display a weapon in her hands at first though while wondering what her first move was and then spoke softly almost at a whisper. "You're a tall one." She remained still while her fingers were flicking slowly around until she was prepared to move.

"Indeed. And it seems that I am faced up against a mummer imitating a daisy."

Gwrtheyrn gave a faint motion with his head to indicate the strange petal like frills that Ikki had wrapped around her head. A poet among other duties was meant to supply quick wit before a duel or battle as psychological encouragement to his people. Such things were won as much in the sharing of rhetoric as they were on the physical arena. Such a jibe lacked the barb of a real insult but it kept the poet's mind sharp and would perhaps provide some distraction.

The coils of wire trailing from the young human woman's hands had captured the maelibi's eye. Those wires spoke of machines. Both the space ships that flew around the galaxy and the mechanical men that aped people were filled with wires. These cables clearly had powers far beyond that of what ordinary metal should have. It would not surprise Gwrtheyrn if they engulfed him in lightning or heat whenever he touched one. He would be careful with those threads and all the possible danger they could hold.

And then in a flurry of motion Gwrtheyrn began the duel. His first strike was a viper quick diagonal slash down for her right arm. The blow utilized both the lightweight nature of the wooden sword for speed and the extreme length for optimal reach. Gwrtheyrn's intentions behind the attack were to hamper Ikki's usage of the limb and hence her wires. If the attack was avoided he would follow up with a low wide sweep at the human's waist height while using the second attack as a chance to gain favorable positioning

Her eyes didn't leave him or that wooden weapon, the size difference was there, to big to ignore and she let the carbonite ti fly up. A wire coming up with a gleam in the light to slice and block the blade as she went to the side. The rest were the same size, smaller then a molecule thin, pressed from blood diamonds and cortosis ore so they could combat lightsabers. She wasn't imagining a problem with wood where her wires could sever soldiers into chunks and ribbons on the floor.

That wasn't the point though while she moved and flicked one carbonite tip with her finger towards the side of the arena and then the others. Allowing herself to feel the tips with the small amount of force and the finger going for that blade to slice it into pieces before it could try and get more attacks. The words not lost on her but she wasn't one to speak longer or more then needed before pulling another wire to flick it up into the air for a moment and try to let the larger student wrap a limb around it unnoticed.

It seemed that Ikki had not seen fit to bring a training weapon to their duel. Gwrtheyrn watched as his wooden blade was sliced in twain by the deadly wires.

This reduced his number of options considerably.

Ikki was a spider, sending her glistening threads out as a web to harm whatever they caught. As cliche as it seemed for a hulking predator such as himself the best way to proceed was to go straight for the black widow directly.

Or maybe not...

The young Maelibi was a poet and while a poet had his voice there were always options.

Stepping deftly to a side as to avoid the perilous snare entangling his arm Gwrtheyrn began to sing.

The rhapsody that came forth was an except from a tale perhaps older than mankind itself. A great warrior king had lost his bride to the clutches of death and thus decided to challenge the lord of the underworld to a duel with the fate of his lover in the balance.

A personal favorite of the poet, but really the song as long as it was performed in a particular way could mean anything and still bare the same effects.

The timber of the music could only be described as ethereal. Deep and resonant while at the same time ghostly and somehow faint it was a thing of paradox and madness.

The song of the Maelibus was that of the mythical Siren, hypnotizing verses that enraptured their audience in myriad overlapping dreams.

As Ikki had not deigned to wear a helmet she would likely have to either use her hands to cover her ears, losing her offensive edge or fall prey to the haunting dirge.

Ikki was looking at the student as it started to sing, her hands moving while she brought her arm up and swiped with the wires. He was singing and she had been around creatures who did tricks. The Oswafts firing a blast of their own speech that could disrupt and damage ships. The smack of flesh from her shoulder as it went to the side of her ear, then wrapped around to put a palm over the other. Her free hand flicking back and forth with wires on the fingers before she moved.

A cartwheel to the side letting the strands pull up from below where she had sent them out. now pulling them back to her and up from below while she was pressing herself. Times fighting with valkyrie squad in their training courses before with their people in how to fight big creatures. Working with Seanna to fight a krayt taught her to keep moving around while attacking the legs.

The wires bit into his carapace, small groves and rivulets carved into the golden armor. It wasn't the time to be tangled however - Gwrtheyrn was not simply a beast to be tripped. Moving swiftly and taking minor cuts in order to avoid a true snare he advanced on Ikki.

Clearly she was lithe and quite mobile but with his song the poet had already restricted her movements. Clutching ones head to their shoulder was not exactly comfortable and one of her hands and thus her second weapon was used to block access to her other ear.

Hurling what remained of the wooden sword pole (Still a good five feet in length) at Ikki's left he darted in with a aiming a backhand to her upper torso from the opposite side. Should she attempt to dodge left she would collide with the thrown sword if a dodge to the right was made she would connect with his backhand.

Evasion through either dropping to the ground or darting backwards would open her to the option of a swift kick or a horned headbutt if airborne. This was mere conjecture however and would not be decided on till it was necessary.

The strike itself was designed to be a mere tap indicating that he had marked her. This was a training bout and humans were simply not designed to take blows from a species that could happily overpower an adult Wookie.

She saw it, those slices to his plates.... she wasn't certain if he could feel pain from those but the blood diamonds were great for creating pain once they cut into something. Touching the bloodstream of most humanoids or average sized poisoned them. It was the hope while she was pushing into the charge. Her hands flexing to retract into the finger spools the wires while the carbonite tips clicked into place.

She pushed herself forward tucking in and making her already small body smaller while going to try and throw herself through the students legs. His longer stride, size and swipe meaning he would need a moment to kick at her for stronger impact that could send her across the room. The maid kept her hand on her head while she moved kicking out while reaching towards the multi-weapon.

She wasn't sure how to bring him down but had battled the Ren in their full armor. thirteen foot giants who could throw speeders at you were just like battling in a practice mat a demon.... It left her holding the weapon in one hand, her ears covered with the other and she popped the weighted end throwing it out with its own spool of slicewire and ejected the blade kicking it into the ground.

Wire for his leg to try and give some pause before a swipe of her gloved hand from behind to try and dig into the plates of armor on the shoulders.

In many ways it was sheer dumb luck. The poet normally would adopt a wide open legged stance when using his sword appropriate to a weapon that under normal circumstances bore such weight and range. Even with his much lighter wooden proxy blade he would still retain that sort of posture due to muscle memory.

But the wooden weapon - diced as it was by the dangerous wires was gone. This meant that Gwrtheyrn lost much of the reach given to him by the great-weapon. So it was that coming forward to hit Ikki with a backhand his left leg (Slightly bent in order to reach down for Ikki with the blow) was much closer to his right than it would normally be.
Ikke would with her forward dive be rolling right into his shin. While he certainly wouldn't be able to make a kick that would sent her flying across the room (Not that Gwrtheyrn would attempt such an action in any case - for fear of breaking Ikki's ribs and rupturing organs in the process) he could shunt her back a few feet certainly.

Following that he would make a quick grab. If it connected there would be no need to follow up - the purpose of the exercise was not to maim but to force the opponent into a point where the would normally concede. In a true fight being grasped would at the very least signify crushed bones if not death thus hopefully getting Ikki to concede.

Ikki felt the impact, the air being knocked from her as she laid there for a moment and spun. You didn't train with Oswafts and not learn how to take impact. Their speech based on firing balls of energy that could destroy ships. Voice streams being able to communicate with lesser species was hard as she had spent time trying to decipher the information. She wasn't doing that but her master was large, dangerous and prone to sending her ship into otherspace when she got uppity.

So she moved, rolling and pressing her body as she her arms and kicked to slid. Training with Alva and valkyrie squad something for close quarters while she brought her wires up. To both try and create resistance but show she can slice through anything here. The one wire going to the edge of the ring as where it was lifted it sliced a crescent. The atrisian maid going back to her movements of forming a small wall of razor wire around her with telekinesis moving the carbonite tips. Energy and movement reserved.

The edge of Gwrtheyrn's clawed digits oh so lightly brushed the wire. Where he a Human this would have been the equivalent of fingernails being sliced by a guillotine. It was well clear by now that Ikki did not care so much about the no maiming part of the fight. If she was to bring such a tool to bare against someone with a little less padding between their skin and all the important things that functioned inside a body there could have been trouble.

As it was Gwrtheyrn was in somewhat of a conundrum. Dragging his hand back as fast as he could to avoid losing the tips of his fingers his mind raced with activity in hopes of finding a solution to this problem.

He needed to get past Ikki's defenses - preferably without losing a body part to the wires. As he had already thrown what remained of his wooden blade there was little else on the raised platform to use as a weapon. This coupled with his lack of force training gave precious little in the way of options.

Then it hit he poet - the were fighting on a raised dais. Gwrtheyrn didn't know how stable the structure was but he was willing to bet that it was not nearly as sturdy as the true floor of the temple. Raising one leg high he brought the full force of a stomp down on the fighting arena. Weighing more than most elevators would find reasonable for access the Maelibi would either shake the entire platform throwing those on it to the ground with the force , break the structure (Not the intended outcome...) or simply look like he was looking to intimidate his opponent (Also not the intended outcome but more welcome than option 2).
