Over My Dead Body (Zius)

Tattooine was very hot at this time of day. The sands weren't blowing as badly as they were in the morning, so Katar was out and about for the time being. She had come merely to explore the desert world. She had never seen a desert before, and her curiosity had gotten the better of her. She was walking down the main street of Mos Eisley when she saw something that caught her attention. A large group of people were gathering in a small nook between two buildings. As she got closer, Katar could hear a man speaking loudly. "......A fine specimen, as you can see folks! Built for hard work and long labor....." She froze. She knew, merely by the sound of his words, what was taking place. This was a slave auction. Much like the one she was in when she was first caught, so many years ago. She pushed her way through the crowd so she could see who was on display. It was a girl, merely twelve by the looks of her. The girl was half-naked, and shaking in fear. But her eyes were filled with disgust. The girl glared out with bravado at everyone. Katar wanted to vomit. She was sick of this. SICK.... She balled her hands into fists. Letting out a low and loud growl, Katar came to the front of the crowd. She stopped at a good distance between the podium and the crowd, her cat eyes glaring directly at the auctioneer. "By God......It's........ It's the Blood Champion......" The auctioneer shuddered, flabbergasted. Katar barred her teeth and growled louder, readying her claws and positioning herself to jump....

Zius stood a few feet away from all the commotion, his visor up to keep out what sand there was blowing around. He was leaning against a wall, cliche at best and minding his own business with black trench draped over his shoulders with the collar up. He turned to see what was happening amongst the townsfolk, his eye beset by the apparent bargaining over species and children. Not phased in the slightest, not a single care in the whole galaxy about what these people did for a living nor their dirty work; however, he didn't much like it when it came to an unfair game. These slaves deserved a fighting chance, that's what he believed in. Let them taste blood.

"You lot there! You want to discuss a price? Then why don't you focus your attention this way..."

Zius slowly relinquished his coat of his lightsaber, holding it in his right hand with his thumb gingerly placed over the activation. The face of the coat clad man was obscured by a helmet/visor with only one dark red eye piercing through the translucent cover, scanning the crowd and the slaveholders. He made his way towards them ever casually and slow, the wind pushing the side of his coat back a bit to reveal a full-suit of armour with the faded and burnt out Empire insignia barely visible on the right-hand side of his chest. As he made his stroll, his thumb slid over the saber's activation, igniting it and revealing a dark red blade. He stopped, staring the crowd down with murderous intent. Awaiting their reaction and answer.

The crowd's attention abruptly turned toward a new-comer, but Katar's did not. Her eyes were locked on the girl, standing in chains. With this new distraction Katar made her move. She leaped high into the air, her claws outstretched and glistening in the sunlight. The auctioneer let out a short cry, but was silenced by Katar's claws, digging into his throat and ripping it out. The crowd screamed and began running in multiple directions. Amidst the sand-filled chaos, Katar challenged the guards. They had their blasters and electrostaffs raised. Katar locked eyes with the nearest guard, hers glowing with an animalistic anger. The guard appeared paralyzed with fear as she came upon him. He tried to fight her off, but she was too fast. She mauled him deeply in the chest, and he died before he hit the ground. Three guards left. One tried to shoot her with his blaster. She knocked him down and sank her teeth into his neck. With a strangled scream, he died. Katar now stared at the remaining two guards. Fear consumed both of their forms, and they fled from the scene.

Zius allowed the oncoming stampede of citizens to rush into him, one bumping into his left shoulder, rolling the scared bystander off as he kept his pace steady. A guard would attempt to catch him in the confusion, but the Force made him react quickly. He hastily brought his saber up and drove it into his gut, flaying it open and shoving him to the ground, stepping over his corpse as he advanced ever closer towards the barbaric woman who appeared to be cynosure of the chaos. Yet another guardsman and his partner cut Zius off with staves, circling him as the Dark Jedi stopped in his tracks.
The two men looked at each other and with a nod, they attempted to strike him down in unison; a terrible, and laughable course of action. Zius jumped into the air with a Force jump, allowing the two men to maul each other in a foolish and blind fashion. One getting punctured and lacerated in the neck, the other getting an electrostaff rammed into his right eye socket, screaming in anguish for but a moment as it fried his brains. Smoke rising from his cranium after the cries of pain subsided. Zius landed and finally stood in clear view of the woman, scanning her.

"Interesting..."

Katar glanced at the man with the lightsaber for just a moment, then immediately went to the girl. She cowered away from Katar. Katar's eyes softened, and she opened her arms to show that she would not hurt the child. The girl stood still, rigid with fear. Carefully, Katar leaned down and examined the chains. They were low-grade, and cheap. She gripped the links with both hands and gave one forceful tug. The chains broke easily. Katar removed them from the girl's body. Judging by her size, the girl wasn't big enough to have a skin tracker yet. So, now that her chains were broken, she was free.

Zius continued to tread closer towards Katar with lightsaber held out to the side as he tried to get her attention.

"Didn't expect any company, and I mean any -real- company. The Force is with you as well, a generous gift isn't it? Haven't seen someone of your disposition before."

One of the guards didn't appear to be fully broken and grabbed for Zius' leg. He turned his head and peered down at the severely injured crawler whom appeared determined to cling to life and fight with what he could muster, and just as he was shakily raising his pistol to fire, Zius broke free of the flimsy grip and sent his heel into the guard's head. A sticky pool of brain matter and blood leaked unto the sand as the Dark Jedi humiliated the corpse further by kicking the body away, causing it to land next to one of the other guards who was so brave. Ridiculous it was, what made these people so bold? It didn't matter now, they had met a grizzly fate. Time to move on.

Katar met the girl's eyes with compassion. She was going to be safe now. The man had talked to her, but all Katar did was meet his words with a hard stare. She wasn't entirely sure she should trust him. Nevertheless, she could hear the chaos continuing down the street. If she was to truly save the girl, they'd have to get out of here and find a way off-planet, and soon. Not wasting any more time, Katar held out her hand to the girl. She hesitated. Katar let the girl see that there was nothing to fear from her. She was here to help. Cautiously, the girl took her hand. Katar pulled her up onto her back. With a final glance at the mysterious man, she sprinted down the street in the direction of the desert.

Zius began to follow her, bursting into Force speed coupled with his internal mods allowed him to actually dart passed her, cutting off her attempted escape. He'd hold out his lightsaber, pointing it at her with a calm stillness as the winds around him caused his trench coat to flap about gracefully. His interests weren't so much for fighting this peculiar individual, but to find out what exactly she is. For all he knew she was some crazed desert dweller intent on eating the child she just snatched up.

"You gotta name? And if you think you're getting away from me that easily, guess again. I'm not going to attack you, but if you make it hard for me to simply ask questions then I might as well cut you and the kid down where you stand. Makes no difference to me."

He didn't really want to kill a slave-bound child, that would be too low for his standards.

Katar froze when the man suddenly darted in front of her, pointing a lightsaber at her face. She should've expected this.... Slowly, she lowered the child from her back. She placed herself between the girl and the saber. The man had asked for her name. But how could she tell him? She couldn't speak. Katar glared at the man, her cat eyes narrowing. She would not let this man keep this girl from freedom. The look on Katar's face spoke the fierce determination that resided in her being. The shouts and sounds were getting louder. They had to move NOW.....

Zius looked passed the girl to see the advancing horde of angered slaveholders and criminals, including hired guardsmen who have been payed off under the table. Tattooine really was a scummy place at times, even when the drinks were cheap and the killing was bound to happen. The Dark Jedi grunted and motioned his head to the side as if for her to go ahead, he would cover her from any blaster fire. In that moment as she would advance, Zius would be following right behind; however, the thought alone still nagged at the back of his conscious: who was this girl? How did she get this way? It was all so obscure and new, he had never met a Force user of her nature. But answers would hopefully come in time.

Thankfully, the man understood her urgency and let her pass. Without a second's delay, Katar took off. She raced down the last few feet of street and rounded the corner, holding the girl to her back the whole time. The Dune Sea was in plain sight. She just had to get there in time...

Zius steadily tailed the girl as she took off into the desert itself. Again? He thought to himself, as if wandering through it beforehand wasn't tedious enough he was going to have to go for round two with the sand storms and such. The sunshine poked rays of yellow-white light through the blaster holes in his trench coat while in the meantime his legs pumped steadily as he started to come around to the side of the beast-like young lady. Zius had virtually no idea who this was or why he bothered to stick around them just to observe when he could so easily just cut her down for pure satisfaction. Was she with the Republic trying to bait him into capture? There was no way of telling, and even if she were, it wouldn't make much sense to murder the man the way she did. Very peculiar and unorthodox Zius thought.

Katar was nearing the desert entrance. But just as she reached the final bound, a shot. A single shot from a blaster behind them got her leg. Katar gasped with surprise. She nearly fell on her face, but caught herself by landing in a kneel. She growled, gritting her teeth as she stood up and kept moving. She stood for a moment, looking around frantically. She spotted a building to her left that was short enough to climb up. She took it. With a running start, Katar jumped up onto the building. If she couldn't run, she'd get out of the city on the rooftops.

Zius saw her stagger just as she was hit by the phantom round. He swiveled his head from right to left, scanning the area with his cybernetic eye to reveal a sharpshooter. Of all things when trying to run, it was somewhat typical of such a person to exist in this place. Possibly a hired hand as well.
He snarled beneath his breath and followed right behind her just as another round was dispersed. The Force tugged at Zius' conscious, telling him to move fast and strafe to the right. He took an alternate route compared to Katar but was headed in the same direction, constantly weaving in and out of gunfire. A couple more holes ripped through his trench coat here and there, simply more badges added to his pride.

(OOC: Katar's roof-jumping. She's on the rooftops right now. Zius wouldn't have been able to grab her, and she didn't fall to the ground. She stumbled, but caught herself and kept going. You may want to fix your post...)
