Keppler Danvier
O Captain, my Captain
Even after he left his room, the datapad screen still illuminated the darkened quarters of Captain Keppler Danvier. Upon the screen was the inbox of the Captain's encrypted communique line. All messages were read, and replies up to date, save for one. The text, bold due to its unopened nature, lay half way down the list, already being several days old. It simply read:
【 SENDER:Jhorna Danvier │ TITLE:I'm sorry 】
Polite, official-sounding greetings and salutes accompanied Keppler as he walked down the freshly cleaned corridors of the Outbound Flight — his destination being Port Side Docking Ring 12. For the most part he was pleased with how the crew were acquitting themselves, though he already suspected that the chief and assistant chief engineers were going to be a problem. They would either be married by the end of the mission, or one of them might just be dead.
His pace was steady and swift, though Danvier gave no impression of being in a hurry. As he rounded the corner towards the docking ring, he noted with some irritation that there appeared to be nobody waiting for him.
Barely a blink of an eye later, a Yeoman appeared to his left, stepping in from his periphery.
Keppler's ire dissipated immediately. Why the young man seemed determined to remain out of sight until the last second, he did not know. But at least he was present.
"Sir. Jedi Sal-Soren's shuttle is on approach and requesting clearance..."
"Which I hope you..."
"...which I gave them, sir."
A half-nod, and the threat of a smirk, were all the approval that was offered. The Yeoman seemed pleased enough.
"I...I can do this sir. I am sure there are more important things that..."
This earned an amused rise of both of Keppler's eyebrows as he turned just his head, and looked down at the shorter younger crewman. The Yeoman stopped immediately, pursing his lips, and muttering an apology.
The Captain was about to offer a brief lecture, but the Yeoman was saved by the hissing of airlock seals setting in place. Instead of the speech, Keppler simply turned his attention to the door that was about to open. "That will be all, Yeoman," he said, hand stretched out to invite the young man to give him the datapad with the tour specs, and spot check report.
"Yes, sir." The datapad was handed over dutifully, and the young crewman retreated from the docking ring greeting node, and left Keppler to his task.
A loud clank caused a twitch of Keppler's eye, as he saw the door part, revealing the Jedi behind the door.
"Lady Sal-Soren. A pleasure to see you again. I thought I might give you your orientation tour personally, though I trust you will forgive me if I use the opportunity to conduct a few spot checks on the crew." He turned, hand directing towards the hallway, and the t-juction ahead. "If you would follow me."
