For the Republic
Grimmin, the gambler. Sal-Soren, the warrior. Stuyveris, the negotiator. And the stoic captain. The Chiss seemed entertained for the first time in the meeting. The rare crack in her hardened visage was perhaps all the more unnerving for its rarity.
The Muun, Vaesh, lent forward to respond. Though, Saeva raised her hand to silence him. He dutifully responded, leaning back against his chair again.
The Chiss reached for a control board, and her fingers danced across the keys with all the grace of someone practiced in the performing arts. A holographic projection flickered into existence above the table, resolving into the familiar imagery of an official Republic broadcast. Starships swept across a brilliant field of stars, accompanied by stirring music and a narrator speaking of hope, discovery and leading the galaxy into a brighter tomorrow. The emblem of the Outbound Flight appeared, followed by the Republic's seal.
The hologram disappeared, leaving only the cool, steady red eyes of the Chiss as she evaluated each representative of the Republic.
"Stirling reputation. Grand vision. We hope that nothing sullies these dreams." Her voice was calm, unrushed to the point of lethargy.
To the Jedi she looked. "Your Jedi will be fine. Or they are not the answer we seek."
To the Nemoidian she turned. "There is more to lose than just an ancient weapon, Senator."
To the tall, articulate woman, she glared. "Good will does not buy my people's safety. We want ships. And Jedi that live up to their reputation."
Then to the Captain, she said, with a nod. "We are done here. Come back when you have a decision."
With that, the three Council members rose from their seats, and bowed to farewell the delegation.
