  • Blasters: High
  • Kinetic: Low
  • Lightsabers: High
  • Sonic: High
  • Ion/EMP: None
  • Special Features:
  • Sound Dampening materials - "Mirage" Class body armor is constructed with body suit made from mass-loaded vinyl based fabrics that allow for a superb sound dampening effective when moving. In addition, specially constructed Beskar plates cover the suit and have been treated with a sound-dampening coating of Sorbothane, which is a "thermoset, polyether-based, polyurethane material with a superior damping coefficient," which allows the wearer to move quietly in a variety of environments while providing for a degree of protection from blasterfire and kinetic projectiles.
  • Sound Dampening field - In addition to the sound-dampening materials that make up the suit, there exists a small sound dampening field generator in the suit's chest-plate. When activated, the dampening field prevents sound waves from being formed within in. This effect covers a small area in all directions of three meters around the suit's position. When activated, the wearer of the suit is essentially silent. This technology, however, is extremely draining to the suit's battery and can only be used for a total of 20 minutes before the suit will need to be recharged.
  • Helmet- The "Mirage" class' helmet comes complete with a heads-up display, night-vision and infrared options as well as a basic scanner that can detect, identify and track unmasked lifeforms within a fifty meter range. The helmet also has a built in comlink and basic vox modulator.
  • Plug-in ports - The suit also sports six plug-in power ports (two on the wrists, four on the chest plate), that allow for the user to plug in additional aftermarket Obsidian Star combat accessories (still in development) in order to enhance some of the suit's already present abilities or create new ones.
  • Strengths:
  • Silent - the sound dampening materials, in conjunction with sound dampening field, make the wearer essentially silent for short periods of time.
  • Lightweight and excellent range of motion - this suit was designed to be very light to wear and provide excellent range of motion. Many wearers report that they are able to run, jump and climb with minimal hindrance.
  • Increased protection – When considered against the OS-103 Whisper class armor, on which the Mirage prototype is heavily based, this suit has increased levels of protection in virtually every way. This is due to the incorporation of Cortosis in the mass-loaded vinyl interweave which serves as the under-webbing for the tempered Beskar metal plates that make up the suit. This increases the suit’s ability to deflect both blaster and lightsaber strikes while maintaining the happy by-product of the suit's sound-dampening design to provide a high degree of protection from sonic based weaponry. Sound energy, weather passive or active (from weapons fire) is transferred into thermal energy and dissipated through the suit's power grid.
  • Weaknesses:
    Sub-par Kinetic protection –
While seeking to increase the level of protection offered to that of the OS-103 Whisper Class suit on which it is based, the design of the Mirage class prototype still favors stealth and maneuverability over protection. The introduction of Cortosis and Beskar have increased the suit’s ability to deflect or absorb energy based attacks exponentially. Unfortunately, since there are still several areas within the suit where projectiles and other forms of kinetic attacks can pass through. At the end of the day, this suit is designed for an operator to move quickly and quietly, not to stand up to prolonged directed fire.
Description:

The OSX-02 "Mirage" Class Sound-Dampening Body Armor Prototype was constructed with stealth and maneuverability in mind first and operator protection second. When it's patented sound-dampening field is activated, the wearer can be essentially silent while performing a variety of actions. In a straight-up firefight, this suit provides a high level of protection against blasters and lightsabers, but only low levels of protection against physical and/or kinetic attacks. This suit can be modified with a variety of after-market accessories (still in development) that can enhance its current abilities and give it new ones.
