Special Features:
· Shield Emitter: Located where the scope might be on most rifles, the OS-110 has a small personal shield emitter. When activated, a rectangular personal sized shield measuring 60cm (length) by 30cm (width) is projected approximately 5cm in front of the weapon’s barrel.
· Shield specifications: The projected shield is based on the principles developed for the OS-108 Energy Buckler and it boasts similar abilities. Unfortunately due to its larger size, its charge only lasts about half as long giving it the ability to:
o Deflect blaster bolts – approximately 13 shots from most pistols or light rifles, approximately 8 shots from most heavy rifles, 1 from most sniper rifles and 0 from any heavier emplacement or starship cannon
o Deflect projectiles – approximately 20 small calibre projectiles and 10 heavy calibre projectiles
o Deflect melee strikes – the shield can absorb several dozen melee strikes from unpowered weapons, approximately 20 strikes from most vibro-blade weapons and approximately 1 to 2 strikes from a lightsaber
o Shield deactivation: When the shield’s charge is used up, it will automatically deactivate. While it is possible to change out power cells on the shield emitter, this can only be done at a rate of: Very Slow
o Cannot fire when activated: When the shield is activated, the weapon goes into an automatic lockdown mode which prevents it from being fired.
o When not deflecting incoming fire, the shield can remain active for a total of fifteen minutes of continuous operation on a single charge.
· Modes of fire: The OS-110 has two modes of fire:
o Blaster bolt – automatic – for as long as the trigger is depressed, the OS-110 will continuously fire blaster bolts until it’s power cell is depleted
o Flechettes – pump action – when the trigger is depressed a cartridge of several dozen small durasteel razor flechettes will be fired in a grapeshot pattern, covering an arc of about six meters in front of the weapon. To load another flechette cartridge, the operator must use the pump action handle located at the bottom of the weapons barrel.

Strengths:

· Shield Emitter: The OS-110 has the ability to emit a personal shield in front of the weapon which can protect part of the operator from incoming fire while they are entering a room and/or advancing on an enemy
· Heavy Impact (Flechettes): The flechette launcher mode fires at a very high velocity and hits with a force powerful to knock most humanoid creatures onto the ground. It can also cut through many light and medium, and even some heavy, armors at close range.
· High Rate of Fire (Blaster bolts): When firing blaster bolts, the weapon can fire at a high rate of fire.

Weaknesses:

· Cannot Fire when Shield is Activated: When the shield emitter is activated, the weapon goes into an automatic lockdown mode, preventing the weapon from firing. When the shield is deactivated, it takes the weapon approximately five seconds for the lockout to switch off.
· Hard to Handle (Flechette): When firing the weapon on Flechette mode, the user will experience a high level of recoil making it difficult to aim with any real sense of accuracy. In field tests, weaker operatives have even dropped the weapon when firing in this mode. As well, the weapon is uncharacteristically heavy for its size. This has caused some operators to state that the weapon is somewhat counter-intuitive to use.
· Hard to Reload (All modes): The reload ports for the various power cells and flechette magazine are awkwardly placed, making it impossible to reload quickly. The weapon is designed with the intention that it will not be used after its initial charges/magazine have run out.
· Complicated: Many aspects of the weapon’s design make it counter-intuitive to use for most operators. It takes extensive training for an operator to use this weapon to its full effectiveness.

Description:
Two of the most dangerous situations in combat are known to be: breaching a room and advancing under fire. The OS-110 “Fury” Shielded Breaching Carbine is Obsidian Stars answer to both situations. The small weapon is designed to be carried as an alternative weapon for operators who expect to be breaching small rooms or advancing under fire against enemy forces. It utilizes a small shield emitter which projects a personal energy shield in front of the weapon-allowing the operator to deflect incoming fire when entering a room or advancing on the enemy. It also boasts two modes of fire: high rate of fire blaster bolts and high impact flechettes. Both of these modes are designed to take down multiple targets in an enclosed space quickly, paving the way for a breaching team or advancing element to accomplish their goals.
