Braze was not expecting its weight and therefore stumbled back a half step, determined not to just drop the object. He was not physically strong on his own and bore a diminutive frame that made hefting the larger weapon a small struggle, accented by an 'oof.'

"Oh wow," he commented, hoisting it up higher to give it a look over. "It's, uh... quite sizeable."

He perked up at what he heard and smiled. "Oh, you think so? Thanks! I try to make them look aesthetically pleasing when all is said and done," Braze chirped softly.

There was a plethora of weapon styles he'd tried out by now, but it seemed by his very presence here he was always scheming for more. "You don't get tired carrying this around, huh?" Braze asked, noting how much bigger Laphisto was than he. It surely had to help with lifting such an item.

"I found that without proper weight distribution, a saber always felt… clumsy," Laphisto said, his tone carrying that quiet rumble of thoughtfulness. "So I rebalanced the hilt shifted the mass closer to the emitter to compensate for the lack of a true blade's weight. It helps it handle more like a real sword. Like the one I carried before all this."

He lifted a clawed hand, gesturing toward the great sword mounted above the central viewport. Its metallic edge caught the bridge's light in a faint, ghostly shimmer the engraved sigils along its fuller marking it as something old, something with history.

A small, dry chuckle escaped him. "Function and form," he mused. "A weapon should be as pleasing to the eye as it is practical in the hand. The two aren't opposites they complete each other. A soldier fights with his weapon, but a craftsman leaves part of himself in it."

"Well, I'd love to study some components if you have any schematics," Braze offered, slightly sheepish. "Making weapons look pretty is more of an added bonus." He chirped as he handed the large blade back, straining a little to heft it up. "I don't want to drop this. It's impressive, but I don't want to drop it."

Laphisto let out a short, amused rumble as he took the blade back, guiding it into the mag-lock at his hip with a satisfying metallic ting. "Can't say I'm carrying schematics on my person," he said, one corner of his mouth quirking. He ran a claw along the hilt once, testing the fit, then met Braze's eyes. "Only the actual, working components are aboard what's installed in this unit. If you want drawings and parts lists, I can arrange the transfer of usable blueprints though ." He paused, shading a faint smile. "Provided you stop sneaking aboard my ships"

Braze smiled at that. " That seems like a fair trade. " Braze said seemingly agreeing easily enough to such a notion. "Consider it a deal. "He offered a tiny hand as if to shake on it.

Laphisto clasped Braze's hand firmly, his grip steady and grounding despite the strength behind it. A low, rumbling chuckle escaped him as he gave a single shake before releasing it. "You've got a good head for design," he said, that faint hint of amusement still lingering in his tone. "If you ever find yourself short on work or in need of somewhere to tinker without the Jedi breathing down your neck the engineering corps could always use another sharp mind."

He tilted his head slightly, a small glint of humor flashing in his mismatched eyes. "They're a pack of stubborn gearheads, but they appreciate talent when they see it. You'd fit right in."
