"Thank you for the compliment. But I feel like you ae going easy on me," Cerys said while repositioning for the next round.

When Lily attacked again, Cerys responded with her classic Soresu, but adapted with the second smaller blade. It was difficult though. Lily's flurry was precise and another stab at her was incoming before she had full processed the first one. Still she smiled, enjoying the challenge.

Cerys met Lily's bigger strike with both of her blades, locking into a defensive stance with all her weight pushing back on her opponents blade. Pushing forward, she pushed the blade away, but stumbled while trying to get her shoto free for a point scoring strike while inside Lily's defences, instead it was just a swipe through the air that left her vulnerable.

In desperation, Cerys swung her other blade with a distinct loss of form, hoping to connect with Lily's next attack

Shaking her head, "nothing is gained for either of us because I hold back." Lily stated, she would not humour for the moment that she would approach anything less than offering everything she could to the fight. "Don't underestimate your progress as a warrior, Cerys." Lily gave a warm smile to the other Padawan, encouraging her friend to understand that this was praise for how much Cerys had worked on her skills.

As the second bout of fighting began, Lily noticed that her precise strikes and the power behind against each strike was breaking the defences that Cerys was offering. Lily was curious to see how strong Cerys would continue to defend herself from the strikes. The loss of form was something that Lily would not allow to continue, it was demonstrating a level of desperation and exhaustion that was not good for combating aggressive and forceful strikes.

"You are losing form, that is something you cannot afford to do in a true battle." Lily stated firmly as she noted the loss of form in attempting to block the next strike and Lily adjusted to strike at a different angle to land the equalising point. "Do not leave yourself exposed through desperation. It will lead to death." Lily stated, she had seen that cost first hand during Woostri.

"Your form was unexpected. But then. That is the point is it not?" Cerys said with a dismissive shrug as she stepped away from Lily. Her demeanour changed, showing a frustration with herself and perhaps not the level of appreciation for Lily's insight than should have been present.

Cerys glanced up at the surrounding spectators and noticed a few familiar faces, along with some that she did not see. She offered a nod of recognition to Lorn Reingard Lorn Reingard . Her shoulders grew less tense and she took a deep breath, took her normal opening stance, and then slowly let her breath out.

She held one blade before her, and another behind her head, while slowly approaching Lily to reengage. What followed was a series of probing strikes, not meant to score but simply to find her rhythm and test Lily's reactions. Her style had adapted though, her feet staying fluid but largely on the ground. Her strikes less sweeping and more lunges and thrusts, with subtle twists of her wrist to change the angle of the blade at the last second.

Lily sighed, she was disappointed that Cerys was ignoring the insight that she was attempting to extend. She knew that her friend could be stubborn and determined at times but Lily figured that the Echani offering advice would break through that stubbornness. Especially since they had gotten close after the heart to heart they shared after the incident in a market stall before with a few other Padawans.

Seeing the counter attack that Cerys was offering, Lily shifted to the defensive form of Soresu, blocking and parrying the strikes from Cerys. Observing the movements and strikes that Cerys was demonstrating for her to note while Lily worked on a mental counter. Lily was allowing her opponent the control in attacks but formulated her next strike while she was doing so. The Padawan was also demonstrating a level of skill and control with her combat abilities that was far above an average Padawan.

She was versed in all the Forms to a high standard, while others focused on a single form or a couple, Lily had trained herself hard enough to be beyond average in all of them. It was a feat that was mostly possible because of the fact she was an Echani with a fixation on fighting.

Guiding Cerys's blades away from her body, Lily aimed a strike straight for the neck of the other Padawan, having seen the opening in the strikes for her move over time and deciding to strike while the opportunity was still there.

Cerys' strikes were swift and graceful. But to her chagrin Lily continued to handle everything she gave to her. The Togruta's response was to cease with the probbing and provide more complete strikes. Just as she was switching gears though, Lily found a way through with a swift and incisive strike.

Cerys pushed away with her left foot and spun about. She stalked away, clearly unhappy with the result. How did Lily do that? Did she spend all her time practicing with a lightsaber or something? Didn't she have a personal life? A boyfriend? All the other Padawan did!

She turned back to say something cutting, but thought better of it. Lily had never been anything but nice to her. There was no need for Cerys to be rude just because she had lost a point. She was rattled though. Lily was considerably better than her. She would need to lean into her strengths more, and avoid any flourishes.

Keep it simple, Cerys.

"Well. You are winning," Cerys said with an almost dismissive shrug, "but that was to be expected."

She reset, clearly now on edge and annoyed.

Lily could see the disappointment in Cerys's body and the confusion in how Lily was as good as she was with her fighting ability. "I train my combat forms daily, Cerys. Also, being Echani, I have been training in combat far longer than most Jedi. So trust me, you are doing well here." Lily was not seeking to diminish the achievements that Cerys was making here. Not a lot of people were capable of getting the first hit on Lily and she was curious to see what else Cerys would have up her sleeve.

Breathing in deeply, "it is a single point. There is still more than plenty of time for you to take back the lead."

Twirling her Lightsaber in her hand, Lily thought about how she wanted to approach her next attempt. Shifting stance, Lily went with the more acrobatic, aggressive style of Ataru. Utilising kicks and flips against Cerys in order to score the next point if she could get another point in. Lily was also letting herself show off a little more, with some dramatic flair and shifting to a style that Lily was less dedicated to learning in comparison to the other ones. To test how Cerys would cope with someone attacking her in the manner that she had been fighting Lily.

It was also a chance for Lily to test her abilities in a form she used less often.

"Yes, but I hoped to have gotten a little better than this," Cerys said, spinning her short blade about. She had practiced so much, at least twice a day and for a fair amount of time each practice. She had gotten better in her spars against he master, but perhaps that wasn't saying much. Brandyn had been fairly self-deprecating with regard his ability with the blade.

Lily's advance was more acrobatic this time. Cerys countered with a dodge. Her feet slide to a stop on the mat, before she pushed off to the side again. Any time Lily got close, Cerys would use her closest blade to divert the energy of the Echani's strike. She used the space better this time, preventing herself from being backed up against a wall.

After several moments of playing the evasive game, Cerys reversed her direction and struck back swiftly with blocks and jabs of her own. Ataru was something that she was incredibly familiar with, and she found Lily's next move easier to predict. A thrill ran through her mind as she pressed her advantage, attempting to turn defence into offence and push Lily back into a corner.

As the duel progressed on between the two combatants, Athena watched closely seemingly entranced by the combat. Her guards seemingly took notice as well, trying to study the movements, the strikes, and the blocks from each duelist. Athena could at least notice that the Togruta was starting to lose ground and as such, her attacks became more out of frustration rather than calculation. The Echani on the other hand seemingly remained level headed, not giving into any emotional impulse that came during battle. The clash of their lightsabers continued as one of Athena's guards whispered to her.

"My Queen, do you think they are formidable?" she asked

"Every warrior isss formidable in their own right. If you're asssking if I can fight them, that isss not why I am here. I wissssh only to see a good ssssparring match. After all, Naboo isss home to many warriors. They might be our alliesss in the future."

The guard simply nodded as she returned back to her post. Athena did have an itch to duel, but perhaps not against these two. Not to mention, Athena was at a lost how their weapons could withstand a saber made of light. For now, Athena simply gave a small smile as she enjoyed the sparring mach.
