[SIZE=12pt]Onyx Manufacturing is a shipbuilding business based in Kuat. The company uses grant money from research organisations and government to create scientific research vessels. The vessels are designed for analysis of newly discovered planets and contain sophisticated technology. Onyx’s ships are well known for their reliability, craftsmanship, and good design. The company is quite small ships are made-to-order. Ships are either entirely unique or a variation based on a few existing models. Onyx specialises in large ships of corvette class or higher. All ships contain minimal armaments, but have sophisticated hyperdrives and travel at high speed.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Onyx Manufacturing was founded by Arthur Maxwell, a successful businessman from Naboo with close ties to many universities and scientific institutes across the galaxy. The company has 20 staff. 18 of which work in either of the two large hangars. Hanger A is for construction, and Hangar B is where the finished products are stored before being distributed to the client. Arthur works in the office along with two assistants who handle new contracts.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=12pt]Arthur created Onyx industries after he was headhunted by a research group on Naboo and contracted to create a small transport ship that could take a few hundred colonists to a world in the unknown regions. After the success of this craft he created his own business. Since then he has been contracted to create several large starships for research and exploration missions. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=12pt]Arthur was picked for his influence in various scientific groups, and universities. He is also skilled in building, having worked for a number of larger ship making companies in the past. Including a brief stint in Kuat Drive Yards as a labourer. After a few years in the manufacturing industry Arthur sought out a tertiary education. He attended university on Naboo and after graduating with a degree in engineering he returned to Kuat as a foreman. During this time he began to invest heavily in the scientific community, and his generosity was well known. After his first solo contract, Arthur worked as a freelance designer, submitting prototypes for larger companies or designing unique ships, typically devoted to science or research. Eventually Arthur had enough money to afford a small lot on Kuat, and he hired a team to manufacture specialised starships under the name 'Onyx Manufacturing'[/SIZE]
