Only One Chance for First Impressions

And so the events came to pass.

Orphen was amazed that the Jedi master was able to block two strikes so close to home while he was within the guard of both of her weapons, however, as their blades never seemed to leave locking with one another, Orphen broke the contact and dropped to his crouching position, sweeping a hand as his wave of telekinetic force attempted to lure her into the air. He found success with the tactic as it heralded the desired results. The boy was a tad surprised at the jump she had made, moving forward rather than backward orphen was a tad caught off guard but, events were already in motion, it was his time now to adapt and follow through, rather than stall and miss this opportunity. Using his arm's sweeping motion and his crouched stance he began to swivvel, grinding his feet into the dusty landscape as her foot would touch his back.

It was in that moment he knew all he needed to know.

The headache began to form as his mind calculated her weight in comparison to his own, he could feel how far she would have pressed down on him, calcuations on the surface tension on a human body and how heavy she would need to be approximately to place that much force on him would give him an approximate figure, then cross sectioning it with the force she would have to press down on him to hop again as well as the direction it began to push him in would give Orphen the calculations of her average acceleration, velocity and direction when putting her weight into account, it would give him a landing zone within a range of about half a foot in diameter.

"Gotcha."

The word slipped out of his mouth as he used the force from her push as well as the turn she would have accelerated by her slightly off centered foot. Orphen would whip around and crash to the ground on his side facing the direction she would land in fractions of seconds. The light-saber which was in the hand he had thrown out for the force push long discarded behind him as one of the hip mounted fire-arms from his side was already telekinetically launched to replace his former weapon in its tight grip. And with a single press on the trigger, a bolt of plasma would be flown on an interception course for her landing zone. the amber-gold blast centered to collide with her diaphragm, though slightly off-centered to her left as Orphen's shot was far from perfect. The charge output of the particle pistol having been lowered to non lethal status as well as all of the rest of his equipment, though the blast of kinetic force from the charged positrons would still be strong enough to disarm a human or leave a mark. Opposed to creating a foot and a half explosion...

Orphen lay on his side, panting as he fought for focus again, he knew that her jump and her intended location was not far away, she may well have reached the ground only 'just' in time to strafe to avoid the blast, but, no matter which way it would be spun... it was going to be 'damn' close.

But Orphen knew this wasn't going to work a second time...

This was it.

As Seraphina landed just a few feet away from Orphen, the Twi'lek's eyes narrowed. In that moment, time moved slow, the surroundings fading out of focus. All that remained was her and the student. Green eyes landed upon Orphen first, then the weapon. The click of the trigger being pulled back rang out in her ears almost as loud and clear as a sonic boom. A slight tremor shot up her spine. The Jedi Master relinquished her hold on her lightsabers, dropping them to the ground without a moment of hesitation. In response there was but one thing to be done.

Pink arms extended forwards, a small shimmering glow surrounded the front of the female's body just as Orphen's bolt collided with her hand. Sera flinched, half expecting the deflection to come just a fraction of a second too late. Though despite that momentary reaction she witnessed the amber orb flash briefly, before being sent upwards and into the atmosphere to disperse among the sky. As she stood motionless, she felt a stinging sensation in the palm of her right hand. A look of surprise washed over her as the Twi'lek lowered the barrier, turning over her right hand to see a small minor burn from the impact. A small bit of laughter came from the lips of the woman as she dropped her hands to her side, shaking her head.

"Not bad. Sneaky, dishonorable, but effective." She offered Orphen a warm smile, summoning her sabers back to herself and clasping them to her belt.

"I've never been one to feel comfortable with that sort of strategy, but I certainly can't fault you for its' effectiveness. In life or death circumstances, one does what one must."
