SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name: One Sith Stronghold DC-73
  • Classification: Hidden Fortress
  • Location: Deep Core
  • Affiliation: The Black Empire
  • Population: Sparse
  • Demographics: The station is entirely automated with servitor automatons manage the day-to-day upkeep of the station in the absence of organics. Most of these droids are administrative and labor, though the station does retain a well-equipped battle droid contingent.
  • Accessibility: The knowledge of the stronghold's location, as well as the clearance codes to access it, were only ever known to the highest echelons of the One Sith's government. With the vast majority of those individuals now dead, only a small handful have the capacity to enter the facility unimpeded.
  • Description: Formerly a Deep Core ore refinery for the Galactic Republic, the asteroid facility was overtaken and repurposed into a secret storehouse for the One Sith when they had taken over the heart of the galaxy. All public and private records of the facility's location were wiped from every databank the One Sith could access or infiltrate, rendering the station as a non-entity to the rest of the galaxy. New construction expanded the station's purpose and scope, with vast warehouses built to accommodate a great number of artifacts, weapons, raw materials, and other items that the One Sith thought was prudent to safe keep. Self-replication machines were installed to facilitate endless maintenance for the droids who would come to serve as caretakers of the facility, ensuring that even after the One Sith's disastrous collapse their secrets remain safe from curious minds. A vast array of hidden weapon emplacements in the surrounding asteroid that would trigger upon detection of inbound starcraft, which could only be deactivated by the correct sequence of codes.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Command Tower: The central hub of the station, the Command Tower constitutes the apex of the main structure and contains the controls for the majority of the sub-systems scattered throughout the internal facility. The tower is operated entirely by administrative droids slave-rigged to a central processor.
  • Residential Suite: An entire section of the facility was transformed into a residential space as a later addition by Darth Carnifex sometime after the One Sith had collapsed, and possesses all the necessities for prolonged occupations.
  • Landing Pad: Extending out from the tower and situated well within the tower's artificial atmosphere is a landing zone large enough for a substantially sized shuttle or freighter to land comfortably.
  • Warehouse Complex: A massive interconnected series of cavernous storage rooms contain a large number of artifacts and other items that had once belonged in the hands of the One Sith, with each chamber being security coded differently.
  • Refinery: A remnant of the station's use under the Galactic Republic, the ore refinery has mostly gone without use for the past several decades. The droids who once mined ore and transported it to the smelteries remain where they were deactivated.
SECURITY
  • Maximum
  • A large contingent of battle droids protects the station's interior from incursion, made up of mostly One Sith era designs.
  • Retractable autoblasters are placed strategically throughout the station alongside ray shield projectors and turadium bulkheads.
  • External laser batteries defend the station against inbound starships.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

When the One Sith expanded their dominion through the Deep Core and the Core Worlds, they confiscated many isolated space stations and converted them into hidden strongholds outside of the public knowledge. In the wake of the One Sith's collapse, a large number of these stations were plundered by the Sith and their enemies in a scramble to accumulate as much of the fallen Empire's wealth and military power as was possible. Though the majority were lost to looting or were destroyed in battle, a great deal of these One Sith strongholds went unfound in the ensuing decades.
One of these strongholds was designated DC-73 and was once an ore refinery for the Galactic Republic prior to its appropriation by the Sith. It was used as a repository for items of special interest collected by the Sith, such as Force artifacts, weapon stockpiles, resource caches, and other contraband. Left entirely automated, the facility survived the collapse of the One Sith and went unfound for decades until rediscovery by the Sith Lord Darth Carnifex.
Carnifex restored the station to an optimal state and built for himself a residency within the facility for his personal use. He also updated the weapon systems found throughout the station and nearby asteroid and ensured that he retained all security clearance to access the station. Before departing, he took several of the Force artifacts of greatest importance with him.
He then commanded the entire asteroid sealed and only to be opened upon his return.
