A message, frantic and garbled, slipped out of the small estate of House Pestenn.

A minor family. Supporters of refugee movements across the galaxy.

While much of the transmission was garbled, one word was spoken clear as day.

HELP.

Then there was silence.

"There will be none of that."

The Corpse Lord, withered hand on the back of the older man's neck, pulled him away from the communications console. He came to the ground with a thud, unable to resist the power of the mysterious intruder and his band of mercenaries. They had stormed the estate grounds in mere moments, the main communication line to Theed somehow jammed as family security was overwhelmed in moments by raw numbers and the powers of a Sith Lord. Allem Pestenn was utterly out of options, his family in the clutches of a madman and the Republic unable to render aid to stop him. The cloaked creature approached once more, lifting the noble from the ground with unusual strength and tossing him into the waiting hands of a pair of cloaked droids.

"You beast! How dare you tread on the sacred soil of Naboo! Do you think the Jedi will stand for this!?"

The Sith chuckled for a moment, approaching the imprisoned noble so that he might get a clear view of his face.

"Not at all. But when I am finished here, they will be powerless to stop what has been set in motion. You are the last piece of my puzzle, Lord Pestenn, so I do hope for your family's sake that no one comes to investigate your estate before I am ready. Take him to the shuttle."

The droids communicated in garbled code in the affirmative, all but dragging the man out of the room while the Corpse Lord turned toward the leader of the mercenary band.

"Have your men secure the grounds. Should anyone come seeking entry, deny them. Any ship attempting to land is to be brought down. My droids need time to collect the information I need from House Pestenn's databanks; I trust that won't be an issue."

"Not at all, Sir. Should I keep men here to protect you?"

"No, Captain. Do as I command; I have my own work to do."

The Captain nodded, leaving the Corpse Lord alone in Allem's private office. The Sith moved to look out one of the ornate windows of the estate, watching as rain fell over the estate grounds. Soon enough, this world would be despoiled as so many worlds had been before, but it would be at the hands of Darth Nefaron, not the other feckless Sith who dared to believe they were the true masters of the Dark Side.

This was to be his magnum opus
