One of Light, One of Dark, Yet One in the Same

Ender stood from her kneeling position and wiped her forehead, leaving a streak of blood there. Not her blood, of course, the blood of the man she had just killed. Elion was crying again and had begged Ender to stop, but why should she? A cleaner, sobbing mirror image of the bloody girl fizzled in front of Ender. Elion was on her knees and had her arms wrapped tightly around her. An explosion sounded throughout the ship, making her jolt.

"Please, Ender-"

"You should have known I wouldn't have stopped, Elion. Or do I need to kill everyone in this forsaken galaxy to teach you that?"

18 months earlier...

Elion cried in the alleyway as she had done for the past few weeks, the young thirteen-year-old deep in grief and dispair, but not far enough to have the strength to take her own life. In the blink of an eye, everything had changed. Everyone Elion cared about, disappeared in one flash, as if they had never existed at all, all as the result of what would be remembered as the Netherworld event. Elion had lost track of how long she'd been wandering over the past several days, digging for food in the trash and crying herself to sleep at night in a dirty alleyway. El was the exact opposite of what she had been only a few days before, a happy, cheerful, brave and funny young woman turned into a traumatized, scared, homeless, and crying girl.

Today was no different. Elion was crying herself to sleep again, hungry and cold. She pulled her jacket tighter around her and made sure the hood was up. The nights had started growing colder.
