Hearing the Jedi's response confirmed that his telepathic communication worked-- what a discovery! With the Jedi's arrival it was like an obscuring layer of haze had been peeled back from reality, revealing what lie underneath to be clear as day.
She asked, What is it that you seek? What is it you hope to find? Rather than think of a response, he immediately let his soul speak as honestly as possible through the Force, not knowing what exactly it would say: I see myself spiraling out of control. I know I am a danger to myself and others, but it's not my fault that I'm this way. I never thought I would be free again, so during my years of torment I gave myself over to the darkest of thoughts. Still, I must claim responsibility for what I am... ah, that sounds like something my father would say... An image of an older man with a strong resemblance to Dion flashed into his telepathic stream of consciousness, followed by a kind-faced woman, his mother, and then a faint echo of laughter from the distant past which represented his three siblings-- all of these things in an instant, and although he hadn't meant to project these thoughts of his family, they made him realize that what he sought was redemption in their eyes. He continued: ... I can't go back to my family, not until I've regained control over myself. What I seek is someone to help me do this, and in doing so I hope they will help me find some degree of inner-peace. I know this is a far from simple request...
His thoughts trailed off. He had nothing to follow that with-- it was an incredibly huge and complex request, and he had nothing to offer in return except for the inherent danger of interaction with a psychologically-unstable cyborg, which he'd just demonstrated to all onlookers.
Luckily, James was dispersing the crowd that had gathered, shooing them away. Indeed, it seemed there was nothing to see here anymore-- the cyborg was just standing there now, looking off into the distance. James was obviously a good man-- Keeli hadn't been lying. When James approached Dion with his offer, the cyborg felt the earnestness of his words; for the first time in decades he experienced the warmth of human kindness. James wasn't afraid of him, and truly wanted to help. Dion looked at him nodded, "Thank you, James. My name's Dion Kayl. Sorry again for the rude introduction we had, I'm not myself today." He chuckled slightly-- a joke! He'd made a little joke about this whole situation. That seemed like progress. "I say I'll gladly accept your offer, it is much appreciated. Whatever I cost you in terms of repairs and resources, I promise to pay you back. Just... one moment before we go..."
He turned to look for the Twi'lek again, unsure if she'd still be there after the crowd had dispersed. He needed to go with James for repairs to his cybernetics, that was for certain, but Dion hoped he might glean some way to contact the Jedi again, if she thought she could help him.
