Muad Dib
Paragon of Virtue
Seven days later …
The evening had grown cooler. Heavy clouds lingered on the horizon. A brisk wind swept across the long grass of the meadows, undulating like waves in the ocean. The road lay empty. No caravan or wayward traveller walked its length. Perhaps it was the approaching weather that caused sensible caution to shelter in place. Or maybe it was the fire, deep in the forest that gave pause to taking the route so near a disaster.
Whatever the cause, it merely meant none were witness to the freighter that landed in the meadow. As the ramp lowered, a pair walked down its length to wade through the grass until they stood on the compact trail that cut through valleys and skirted forests. Between their feet was a pile of shattered ruby crystal. The falleen known as Haymitch looked to the Kaleesh. "Test it." The guard squatted and held two things near the powdered remains. One was the tip of a long spear, the end stained with a dark substance. The other a knife covered with an equally dried substance. The shattered remains of the runestone began to glow faintly in their presence.
Haymitch nodded and turned to cross the road, knife through the tall grass, and reenter the ship. Two scientists exited in white biohazard outfits and went to where the Kaleesh directed, before kneeling and recovering the remains of the jewel. Once every mote was recovered, they returned to the ship as it blasted off. The falleen sith rested a green hued hand against the case containing the runestone.
"We will be avenged. On Muad Dib and this, Rin Taal. But first, we will destroy what they fought to protect on Batuu. We will kill every single person from that caravan. And then, we shall pay a visit to Siskeen and Veradune."
(The End ...)
