On the Road Again

[member="Quinncolson"]

Location: Time Bandit, hyperspace

Sem sat in the copilot's chair, one eye on the ship's dashboard and another on their latest embroidery project -- a landscape of sorts. They had just finished the outline, and had a long way to go, but that was alright. The Clawdite had picked this particular design specifically because it would take a long time to finish; in other words, a perfect thing to occupy their hands during extended periods of waiting.

Like now.

They rubbed a hand over their face, sighing. Their form for today was their usual androgynous human guise. Sem had been pleasantly surprised several times by individuals who did not mind them being a Clawdite, but even so...better safe than sorry.

A desire to fetch a drink came across them, and they stood up. A break was much needed, and besides, stretching their legs would be good. As they exited the cockpit, however, they first walked over to the ship's intercom systems. "Captain Colson?" Sem asked. "We were wondering if you'd like to join us for a drink down in the kitchen?" It was only polite to ask, since the young woman did own the ship and all.

Sem nodded, tucking their embroidery things into the inside pocket of their vest. Totally playing off the fact that their writer had a brain fart for a moment, the Clawdite followed Captain Colson out.

When they arrived, Sem, being the gentleperson they were, did a miniature bow and said, "Allow me." They then walked over to the cupboards and procured two glasses...before filling them with water. The Clawdite preferred to not drink alcohol, and their experienced eye guessed that their young captain was not old enough to drink. Not legally, at least.

Sliding one glass over to the blonde, they took a sip from the other and leaned against the counter, studying her.

Quinn was young, younger than many individuals Sem had come across -- certainly younger than other pilots. And while they didn't question her ability to handle herself (until the pair found themselves in trouble, the shifter had no basis to judge), they still knew that the galaxy could be dangerous to youngsters such as herself.

Sipping again from their glass, the Clawdite decided to spark up some conversation. It was, after all, to be a long ride yet.

"So, Captain Colson... You look fairly young to be a pilot. Not that we are judging," they added hastily. "Even so...where do you hail from? If you don't mind us asking."

"Panatha? Hmm. We cannot say that we've ever visited that planet before. As for us, well..." They shrugged. Sem didn't always like talking about their home. Their parents? Yes. They had, in their mind, the best parents. But their home? The pirates?

Nada.

So, instead, they shrugged nonchalantly and tried to think of an answer that would not only avoid awkward questions but also at least be decent enough to give back. "We were born aboard a ship, so no true home planet for us. Though, we like Kashyyk." The Wookiees there had always been friendly, provided you didn't insult them on purpose. Not that Sem ever did.

"How did you get into the ship business?"

"You are a part of the Jedi Order?" Huh! After years of not meeting a Jedi or Sith, Sem had managed to come across two in a short time span. How funny.

They were curious about what had happened to the girl's parents, and why she was here piloting instead of training alongside her fellow Jedi. Although, perhaps she was already a Knight? Not that Sem would know; the only other Jedi they had met was the Grandmaster [member="Corvus Raaf"], and she predictably was no young'un.

Not that they would say that to her face, mind you. Jedi she may be, but Sem had learned that telling individuals who were blatantly female that they looked old was not the smartest thing to do.

Sem couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. "If only our schooling was like that. Still, does your Master not worry about you getting kidnapped by slavers, or...pirates?" If the girl were paying attention, she would have heard the hesitation in their voice. Pirating was something which always made the Clawdite uneasy simply because of the unsavoury streak it left on their past. They were by no means a bad person, and worked hard to not let the stigma of being a pirate and a shapeshifter affect them, or their attitude.

Aware that the girl was now studying them, Semziru shifted on their feet and took another sip of water. They did not like it when people stared at them for obvious reasons, but the spacer suspected that the captain's reason was (hopefully) more innocent.

"She does worry but I tell her there is nothing to worry about that I will be fine." She say as she stops staring at her co-pilot and begins wondering what will come next on this journey for them. "So how did you start your travels through the stars" she asks and takes a sip of water trying to relieve the tension in the room
