On the Prowl (Joza Perl)

"And I'm not your average run of the mill bounty hunter." He lead her to an elevator, waiting for her to walk in as he pressed the button to go to the surface of the planet. Once there, a man wearing a rather formal suit approached them.

"Hello again, mister Fett. I see you brought... company." The man raised an eyebrow toward him. "Don't worry, she actually helped."

“So it seems.” She commented dryly, stepping into the elevator with him. There were a few more questions she wanted to ask, but kept quiet for now. Now that they were in a seedier environment, her instincts kicked in and she fell back on her observational skills.

As they reached their destination they were approached by a well dressed man who approached Khalan with his last name. The pink skinned woman arched a brow but chose to say nothing on the matter, instead nodding her head with a polite smile when her presence was mentioned. “Joza.” She introduced herself shortly, eyes studying the formal looking man.

The man forced a smile, giving a courteous bow. "Good to meet you." Khalan approached the man, holding out his hand. "My credits? I took care of that little Rodian"

"Ah yes... your reward." The man got closer to Khalan, yanking a vibroknife out of his suit jacket. The blade tore through Khalan's gut, leaving a blood stain on his bodysuit.

"Son of a... bith..." The man dusted off his suit walking away, but as he did, Khalan slowly reached for his Combat Pistol.

At the forced smile, Joza’s eyes narrowed just a hair. Something was off with this man, but she couldn’t place it. Maybe it was his behavior, or maybe it was the shady situation. Either way, it wasn’t that much of a shock when he sudden drew a vibroknife. Still, it was enough of a surprise to catch the pair off guard.

The Zeltron’s eyes widened as the knife slashed through Khalan’s midsection, and she instinctively whipped around in time to see the assailant walking away. A scowl overtook her face, and with one hand she reached out and gave the man a force shove into the wall. Her other hand reflexively retrieved her saber, thumbing the ignition on, prepared to lunge forward. She was always a little…quick to resort to “aggressive negotiations”.

Khalan stayed on the concrete, losing a large amount of blood. He weakly raised his pistol at the man who was already on the ground groaning in pain.

One...

Two...

A loud pop sound came from where Khalan was laying, the man falling lifeless to the ground, a pool of blood forming around his head. "That's what you get you louse piece of Bantha fodder... ngh... not even worth the scum on my boots."

As the man dropped to the ground after taking a headshot, Joza disengaged her saber, having felt a little silly for activating the weapon so quickly. With the threat gone, her anxiety began to die down and she turned her attention to her fallen…comrade?

Dropping onto one knee, she attempted to prop him up. “Hey, you alright?” She looked down at the gash that stretched across his midsection. “That doesn’t look good…” she murmured. ”That body suit might need to come off after all.” Though her tone had a serious note, she tried to joke as she rifled through her bag for some bandages.

“Alright. Try not to move around, easy.” She grabbed one of his arms and threw it over her shoulder, calling on the Force to help her lift him up. He was much larger and heavier than her, and she wasn’t the strongest person but she’d manage. Joza dragged him back onto the elevator as quickly as she could.

“I’ve got some bacta treatments with me, so try and not pass out yet okay? I don’t wanna get crushed.” She murmured jokingly, making it back to the ship.

"Heh... and I'll be sure to keep blood off of you too..." Khalan's eyes already started to grow heavy, but he had to stay awake.

Once they made it to the ship Khalan opened his mouth to speak again. "If you need them, I have some... mng... bandages in the compartment behind you."

Joza set him carefully on the floor of the cockpit, a bit relieved to get the weight off of her, but now she had to focus on the task at hand. “Feel free to pass out now, but don’t expect me to fly us out of here unless you’ve always wanted to die in a fiery crash.”

Rummaging through her bag, she pulled out a bacta treatment and began to spread the healing gel over his wound. “So, does this usually happen to you?” She mused as she worked, absently noting his toned physique as she bandaged him up as carefully as she could.

"Hmm... well, I get stabbed, shot, sometimes kicked in the gut.... yeah." He smirked, noting that the pain slowly faded away. The bacta felt... soothingly warm. He leaned his head back, sighing in relief as the bacta did its magic.

"Thanks again... I feel I owe you more now... oh and speaking of which, I think I know where his credits are..."

[member="Joza Perl"]

A look of relief eased onto her face as the bacta worked at Khalan’s wound. “Don’t worry about it. I’d be a pretty bad space wizard if I just left you to bleed out.” She smirked, starting to get some of her humor back.

She arched a brow, now interested. “Are you suggesting I go back and loot his corpse?”

[member="Khalan Vhett"]

"No... that's what Dekann is for." He whistled loudly, a grey and brown feathered falcon flying onto the pilot's seat. "Dekann, find those credits for me." The bird cawed in response, flying away.

Joza jumped, startled when a large bird flew into the cockpit. “Uh…” She watched the falcon fly away before shaking her head. “Didn’t expect that. Less work for me, though.”

Sighing, she crossed her legs and placed her hands behind her, leaning back on them. “So…what’s your deal, if you don’t mind me asking? Most Mandalorians I come across aren’t so friendly towards J— space wizards.” She asked innocently, tilting her head.

[member="Khalan Vhett"]

"Well... I've never really had problems with force wielders. So I figured, what's the point?" Khalan carefully stood up, propping himself up with his Assault Carbine. "If they never wronged me, why should I wrong them?"

He'd reach into a bag, pulling out a couple fruit bars. "Want one?"

[member="Joza Perl"]

Joza looked at him curiously, remembering her father’s reaction when she told him that she was a Jedi. Though he hadn’t been mean to her, his distaste for space wizards was still clear so she’d been cautious around any Mandos she happened to come across. “Makes sense.” She offered him a small smile.

She took a fruit bar when offered, nodding to him in thanks. “It’s just...I’ve heard that Mandalorians don’t take to well to Jedi or Sith. But maybe it’s because you’re younger?” She wondered aloud, shrugging and taking a bite of the fruit bar. “How are you feeling, by the way? Less close to passing out?” She asked after chewing and swallowing.

"I'm feeling alright... it could be worse." Khalan touched the bandages, twitching and cringing as he did.

Dekann would return with a fairly large credit box in his claws. He'd drop it, Khalan catching and cradling it in his arms. The box read:

'200,000 credits, property of Kalil Mantessa'

"200,000? Nicely done Dekann." Khalan tossed the falcon a square shaped biscuit, catching it in his beak. The bird munched happily on his snack while his master ate his own snack.

"Guess that means 100,000 each."

[member="Joza Perl"]

“Hey, don’t touch it.” She reached to grasp his hand, moving it away from the bandages before realizing that she was touching him and released his hand.

Thankfully her attention was drawn as Dekann returned with their reward. “100,000? Sounds good to me.” She watched the bird for a moment as he ate his snack. “So did you train him yourself?”

[member="Khalan Vhett"]

"Why yes I did as a matter of fact. Observe. Dekann, fetch me a couple bottles of water." The hawk cawed in response, flying away and returning with two ice cold waters. "See?" He hands her one, giving off a toothy smile.

"So I'm guessing you're taking your money and leaving?" Khalan made a mock pout, attempting to hold in the laughter.

[member="Joza Perl"]

“Wow…not bad. That bird listens better than some younglings.” She mused, giving Khalan a nod as he hands her a water.

“Well, if you have more work for me I’d be inclined to stay.” She twists the cap off of the water, taking a large gulp before tilting the bottle away from her with a refreshed gasp. “But you are kind of interesting. And it would suck if you passed out again.”
