Reimagining the Jedi....

-----------

[Theme]
By this point it was safe to say that Romi had been at the head of several collaborative efforts amongst the Jedi; it has become, for the most part, her primary focus as she furthers her way into Masterhood. Years ago, you couldn't get her to take the steps she'd been taking. Any form of responsibility she refused to cloak herself with, shrugging it off instead. But, her own Master foretold she'd walk this path...did she give a kark then? Absolutely not. She never wanted to be a teacher, on a Council, and definitely not a Grand Master...

Ironically, she'd done all that, and more.

It's why, now more than ever, she listens to Veiere posthumously than she ever did in life -- small parts of her resented him for this.

Nowadays, she never asked for permission to do what she felt was right. She just did it.

Aside from her work on Jakku, and in the unknown regions, she was spearheading another mission in the efforts to secure a solid future for the Jedi Order.

The Order as a whole is always fighting an unseen enemy - Anti-Jedi sentiments centered around fear, mistrust, envy, or outright hatred of the Jedi Order. Just as with the Sith, many sentients of the galaxy feared them, and criticism developed from the fact that many common people did not understand the Jedi, their ability to use the Force, or their principles. Many of those outside of the Force equated them with the Sith and didn't find them any better.

And, due to a reclusive nature -- they were sucking hard at connecting with all they were sworn to protect.

Romi, though, had been suggesting new, more modern tactics that shy away from the Order's history of being more recluse; a galactic tour. It's a mutually beneficial deal – this tour of such was a way in; helping to improve relations between them and other populations. Meeting with members of Royal Families, heads of state, senior officials, religious and cultural leaders, and local organizations as a way to reimagine what a Jedi is to the people.

So this brought her to Eshan, she'd never been prior. But, she knew some of the history. A victim to a nasty invasion. Orbital bombardments and underground attacks left the city's architecture shattered. But now, the city now bares an entirely new face. Some news got out about her arrival, and she strode the platform towards the platform towards the palace. She'd already given her lightsabers, pistol, knives and grandes etc over to the escort. She welcomed the onlookers who had gathered on the estate grounds, waving in formal fashion.

Noelle stepped out onto the platform, the fall air brisk and sharp on her exposed skin. The winters were not kind to Eshan City, but for the first year that wouldn't be a threat to people that had survived the war. After a decade of strife, they had returned to their self-sustaining status once more.

Eshan did not need outside help anymore. It was an accomplishment of pride, but Noelle knew better than to let it be all.

All it took was a single strike and her people could know suffering again.

And so the daughter of an infamous sith Empress took the meeting with the jedi. Lines were arbitrary when put against her people's needs. She knew better than most that a title did not define a person.

"Master Romi," she greeted, inclining her head slightly. These events might be easier with a hand maiden... "Welcome to Eshan. ....Would you like some tea?"

She would ask Kal Kal to find her one.

She pressed the ball of her foot down to halt her pace before paying her respect to the Queen by pulling into herself -- she lowered her head.

"Your majesty." She peered through her blonde locks before shooting back up. "Ma'am, might I thank you for taking the time to meet with me-I" She shied away from the offer in motion before expressing, "No, I'm alright. Thank you though."

She cut through the adornments of the royal residence, and was wholly drawn in by the views they had. "I've never been to Eshan. This is my first time-it's beautiful. The people are spirited...the energy here is great." She kept her distance.

"You're probably wondering why I'm here..."

A beat.

"I'd like for you to get a good feel for the Jedi Order, as it is...I'm sure you have your presuppositions, but right now our approval rating isn't the best." She cleared her throat. "I'd love to establish a good rapport with Eshan on behalf of the Order, in any way I can."

Noelle's lips quirked.

"Which order?" The woman received a facetious glance, a full head taller than Noelle, who walked in heels. A table sat in balcony covered by glass. The space was warmed by the magnification of the sun, allowing the jedi to both enjoy the views and keep her toes.

Noelle pulled out her own seat and sat herself, gesturing for the Jedi to at least join before they cracked into a delicate matter like this.

"Yes, I have read the news. It's all been quite the scandal-- religious wars, some places call them." She took a delicate sip of her tea, her own opinion on the matter hidden as she studied the woman.

"You were on track to be Queen once yourself, weren't you?" Came the abrupt observation, no manners given to the off-rail intrusion.

Noelle said:
"Which Order?"

She tensed at the sharp intake of air -- "Well...it's kind of complicated..." she spoke under her breath while gliding after the Queen to join her orbit.

"I-uh-stand to represent the Order overall. I'm what we call a Wayseeker--I operate independently of the Council...and kinda work towards the interests of the Order overall." She cleared her throat while taking in the decor. "That's how I would describe it in a nutshell."

She was motioned towards the other end of the table, and took her place before divulging on the comment.

Setting herself straight -- it took her off guard; she mostly just didn't think the topic would emerge.

"You should see me in a crown..." She tucked her feet, and leaned forward, smirking. "That's true, I was engaged once to the Chume'da of Hapes, but had to uhm put a brake on that..."

A beat.

"Just...a long story from a chapter in my Jedi career book

That earned a tight smile.

"So you understand how this works then," she sat back and gesturing around her. "Whether its convent for me or not, the people have a mind of their own. I may understand where you are coming from, but what you are talking about goes far behind my influence. I am just the crown, they are the neck-- I go where they point me. And people here, Master Jade, do not given a damn about the force. It will not keep them warm this winter. It will not rebuild their streets. And it will not protect them when war comes again.

"If you are looking to change public opinion, I suggest you drop the robes and engage them on things that really matter. To them, I mean."

Or did she? It was hard to read behind the cup she brought back to her lips. The words were as helpful as they were dismissive. Imagine her biggest problem being caring what others thought.

“I’m inclined to agree with you your majesty. In fact you’ll notice I don’t even wear the robes.” She smirked.

“That’s exactly why i’m here, why I requested an audience…I have an idea where you stand as a monarch, and while the overall theme may be to change the public perception, as it would afford us to do the work we need with less resistance, I understand that you as the head, know what it is the rest of your body needs…whether you can directly influence such or not.

I didn’t come all this way to prove to you, and your Kingdom what the Force can and can’t do. I’m here to learn and gain the necessary context about what’s really important to the people here.”

A beat.

“This is a step in that direction, I hope.”

Noelle eyed up Romi for a long beat.

"Every Wednesday and Saturday the crown hosts public training in the courtyard. It's not much, but it's something for the families that do not have other options, and it is important in our community that every child have the chance to learn how to fight. It's our language. They could always use more hands.

"Even if they don't know what they are doing."

It almost seemed like a friendly tease. She placed down her cup and gestured for a server to bring a fresh batch.

"That's what they need right now. That would be work that resonated. You're welcome to use our lodgings, or resume on your way. It's no different to us, Jedi."

She visibly held her smirk back behind puckered lips, feeling that they were getting somewhere.

But she would soon straighten up.

"I appreciate the valuable information your majesty. I look forward to participating." She propped up in her seat. "I hope in time you'll see my actions are far louder than my words."

She bowed at the head.

"...Though I appreciate the hospitality, I should return to the Praxeum. However, I will be back and look forward to doing the work." She slowly rose, "If I may?" she was seeking permission to leave this jewels orbit.
