The PR-490 was made to calm crowds, and take over in environments when friendly police officers might expect casualties. Though designed as a suppression droid, they will not use lethal means unless needed. For their suppression system it is normally hands raised and alerting bystanders the area is under police control. The PR-490 was also made blaster resistant so they could become SWAT units for police forces. This was to lessen the need for biological officers going into a hostile situation.
Strengths:
- Intelligent - The PR-490 has a vast knowledge of police procedure and tactics. Also they are smart enough to work independently from organic users, the PR-490 just needs to be deployed and given a general order from there they can use their knowledge to fulfill that order.
- Police Unit - Since the droid was made as a police unit, the PR-490 will use non lethal stun as a primary deterrent. This gives most people a leg up on them, since they will try to stun, unless civilians are killed, other PR-490s, or their fellow organic officers.
DESCRIPTION
The PR-490 was built by the Onderon Engineering Corporation, to give big City planets like Courscant an extra boost to their police forces. Used to supplement organic police forces the PR-490 is just as good, though their programing will make them follow police procedure for the force that employs them. They are mainly deployed to surrounding areas to make sure there isn't any outside interference from bystanders, or used as SWAT units to hostage situations. Though placed on the open market by the CEO normally these droids will be sold to governments only on a planet basis only. This is to try to stop unwanted criminals getting their hands on the droid and altering their programing.
