Obstacle Course! [Jedi Academy Padawans]

"Alright, team! Listen up!" A young Jedi Knight, human male and athletically built, called the assembled Padawans into a "common blob" formation around him. Laura hung around the edges of the circle while the more enthusiastic Padawans crowded around the Knight. Jedi Ladfield was a Republic Jedi, and his favourite thing was physical exercise. He was six foot three, clean shaven with sideburns, and fairly handsome. Laura had a little crush on him already. As he enthusiastically explained what was about to happen next, the young girl found herself going a little red, and only blushed more with embarrassment as a result.

"Today we're going to go through the galaxy famous Jedi Academy Obstacle Course. The objective of this is to increase your physical fitness, your connection to the Force, and introduce you all to the physical side of Force powers, being primarily Force Speed and Force Jump. We've also thrown in a smattering of other skills to complement the course ... if you haven't learned any of those, just forget 'em and go around! This is great training value, team!" Jedi Ladfield oriented himself towards the start of the course, a large circuit that took advantage of the outside of the Temple and the surrounding jungle. "Let's do a talk through before we begin."

"We start with the Red Pillars. Starting from the bottom, you have to leap from pillar to pillar to reach the top of the pyramid. The catch is, you can only touch the part of the pillar painted in red. Everything else is a no go." Laura looked up at the dozen pillars that dotted the front side of the Jedi Temple. Each pillar only had red at the very top, on the flat surface, and each was higher again than the next one. The last jump, to the top of the pyramid, would take an incredible leap.

"Then we move to the Rope Swing. Six rope swings from tree top to tree top, with a narrow landing area each time. This stand requires timing and precision." Laura noted the six ropes leading off into the jungle.

"Next is Boulder Run. Down the massive tree we call Tall Tree, we have placed a winding ramp, and a supply of huge round boulders. You have to beat the boulder to the bottom, or it'll flatten you. And with gravity, those boulders get really, really fast. Don't worry, they're not real boulders. They might give you a fresh new bruise or two, though, so make sure you beat it down!" Ladfield grinned. "After that we have a mental stand. I call it Stone Stack. Stack five mid-sized stones on top of each other without touching them with your body or anything connected to your body. Once you are done, you have ten seconds to make it to the next stand. You have 120 meters to cover during that period. Achieve it however you can."

"At the next stand you will find a handful of rocks and a target 50 metres away. Use the Force to hit the target with the rocks. Ten points for a bullseye, five for hitting in the red, two for hitting in the yellow, zero for missing the target altogether. You will have six rocks. Add your score and head to the Tree Climb. You will use Force Jump to make it to the top of the tree, 35 metres up. Use all you have learned to make it down safely again. From there, you have another 10 second sprint to the final stand. There, you will face a remote in single combat. Block all of his shots successfully to complete the course."

Laura swallowed hard. This course would be extremely challenging for a Padawan.

"This course is not designed to be easy. Most of you won't complete it the first time. Most won't even complete the Red Pillars. But in time, you will master it." Ladfield smiled, and folded his meaty arms across his chest. "Are you ready, team?"

"GO!"
