DESCRIPTION

Lore does not provide a precise account of the number of sabers that Obi-Wan Kenobi used. Depending on interpretation of information, he used either 5 or 6 sabers during his lifetime

Version One

1. When Kenobi was a youngling and Padawan, he was given a lightsaber by an unknown Jedi, probably Yoda, for training
2. Kenobi built his own lightsaber based on the designs of his friend Quinlan Vos and his Master Qui-Gon Jinn
3. The second Padawan lightsaber was with him until the Battle of Naboo. One account says he retrieved his saber but then used Jinn's lightsaber for an unknown amount of time
4. His lightsaber was lost when he was captured by the Separatists on Geonosis. During the battle, he was given a temporary replacement
3. Kenobi later reacquired his own lightsaber and used it during the early part of the Clone Wars
5. After being promoted to the rank of Jedi Master, Kenobi built what was to be his final lightsaber. This last one was based on the design of his first Padawan saber

Version Two

One account says he replaced his lost one by making an exact replica
4. He then used Jinn's lightsaber for an unknown amount of time
5. His lightsaber was lost when he was captured by the Separatists on Geonosis. During the battle, he was given a temporary replacement
3. Kenobi later reacquired his own lightsaber and used it during the early part of the Clone Wars
6. After being promoted to the rank of Jedi Master, Kenobi built what was to be his final lightsaber. This last one was based on the design of his first Padawan saber

This submission is specifically for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s first lightsaber

The lightsaber no longer has the gleam and shine it would have had when first used. It has been kept in relatively clean and dry conditions – but has lost the shine and pristine condition that a regularly serviced hilt would have

In contrast to the simple weapon design that Obi-Wan crafted as a Padawan and a Knight (which were based on his former master's weapon) this weapon had a much more skeletal build

The emitter was separated from the body of the weapon by a bronze and brass cut-back, thin ‘choke’ portion which also held the reserve power cell. Directly below this slim bar was the black ridged handgrip, which occupied the central third of the hilt. The activator was throttle-style. The covertec wheel was black held onto a rigged black extension. Finally sealing the hilt was a chrome emitter. The lone design feature common between all of Kenobi's crafted weapons were a set of evenly spaced protrusions around the circumference of the pommel

It was interesting that, despite his strong link to his former master, once Obi-Wan became a Jedi Master in his own right, he chose to revert to a design that took him full circle – to his early days as a Padawan and before he was able to craft his first saber on Ilum with his master. This adds credence to the lore speculation that the first saber Obi-Wan used was crafted and given to him by Yoda

During Obi-Wan Kenobi's exile on Tatooine, he wrote down instructions on how to create a lightsaber in a journal. This information is replicated in his Holocron, that Lilla Syrin currently holds. The journal was used many years later by Luke Skywalker in order to construct a new lightsaber – and was a close facsimile of the same design

Strengths:
Despite its age, all parts still work perfectly – albeit the cell requires charging and the hilt is lacking any crystals

Weaknesses:
Currently inoperative
If repaired, cortosis will short the blade if it comes into contact with it
The lightsaber has not been constructed to function underwater

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you on this, but I wanted to double check something with another member of the factory staff before I commented on this.

I think it's probably fine to extrapolate features from those designs to create this one, but we typically use this heading solely to reference the actual canon item for keeping track that this is a canon item. Because of that, I'd probably move these links to the "Primary Source" field and leave this area blank.

Otherwise, I think this is pretty much ready for approval.
