The Oaris Trading Company owes its creation to a small humble plant called the Caligo plant, a type of tea plant originating from the planet of Arsenae. This plant was taken to the newly colonized agricultural planet of Thalia where Arsenian farmers could grow it year round. These tea farmers quickly ran into a problem, the vast majority of freighters to Thalia were grain haulers, making shipping processed tea off world in large quantities difficult.
The plight of these farmers fell on the ears of a small time merchant named Khloe Argyos. Captain Argyos and the farmers conversed into the night until a deal was stuck, a quick handshake and the Oaris Trading Company was born. The company became the sole transporter of tea off the world of Thalia at a price that benefited both parties.
Over a few short years, the tea farms grew with the demand for tea. The old freighter that carried the first few crates of tea, with the company's now recognizable logo of a blue ship, turned into several large custom built freighters. As the Oaris Trading Company grew, they began to expand into other exotic goods such as silk, wine and duramarble. Eventually setting up a trading station and warehouse on Arsenae. Now the company has several dozen large freighters, trades in dozens of different systems and trades everything from exotic and general merchandise to industrial equipment. All before joining the Rimward Trade League
RATIONALE
A mutually beneficial trade agreement gave rise to the Oaris Trading Company. One that allowed tea farmers to sell their products and expand while making Thalia the largest tea producer of the Arsenian people. The agreement also allowed Khloe to turn her small privately owned business into a trading giant.
