SPECIAL FEATURES
- When used in self propelled ordinance: This sensor can relay its findings to the navigation systems of the ordinance's targeting systems, allowing for immediate and simultaneous changes to the flightpath when encountering obstacles or gravitational changes. This makes it much harder for someone to use pinpoint telekinesis on self propelled ordinance utilizing this piece of technology. It additionally also allows it to react to changes in air pressure and gravity, but also fly-by objects and other potential hindrances to its flypath, increasing the accuracy and efficiency of self-propelled ordinance by a very large margin.
- When used in droids: When built into a droid's computing system, this little piece of technology makes the droid's reflexes much crisper and reduces reaction speed and prediction rates. Droids utilizing this piece of technology are much harder to hit with weaponry both in terms of melee and ranged, as the Null-sensor allows for a faster and more accurate sensory capability to detect objects and minute gravitational changes, coupled to a droid's computational strength, this piece of technology's efficiency increases proportionally to the droid's processing power.
- Akin to heightened senses: Allows for more accurate and reflexive responses to changes in gravitation, pressure and proximity of objects in both droids and self propelled ordinance.
- Auto-reflex: Due to the high-tension callibration of this electronic equipment, its effects are nigh instantaneous, allowing for nigh auto-reflex responses with high margins of calculations with minimal margin for error.
- Improved flightpath calculations: while this use isn't in ordinance or droids, the Null-sensor can also be used to identify the need for rapid course corrections or flightpath alterations within a navigation computer, acting as a safety mechanism.
- Can be overloaded when there is too much input (for instance if several different jedi were to try and utilize telekinesis on a missile with this technology, it may "confuse" the chip, as it has to calculate and redirect the missile out of multiple paths which can get tricky, if not nigh impossible depending on the number)
- Limited by the capacity of the droid: This won't make a construction droid do spinkicks and flips if they do not have the required joints, tensile strength, etc...
- Electronic warfare
The Null-sensor was born out of the need for small improvements in both tactical use of self-propelled ordinance types and the need to counter many a force sensitive's utilization of telekinesis to bar the effective use of these ordinance types. While at first, the Null-sensor was thus meant to be wholly designed and built with the ordinances in mind, later testing revealed that its gravitational sensor, its repulsor sensor and proximity sensor could cooperate perfectly within a droid as well, allowing for a much higher reflexive movement akin to heightened senses or primal instinct within droids, granting them higher flexibility, higher awareness of their surroundings and thus a much higher efficiency when it comes to tactical operations and close quarters combat.
Further testing had also revealed that the Null-sensor could also be used to further upgrade existing navicoms and/or be integrated into AIs in order to have a means to quickly and efficiently detect anomalies within a flightpath or set course and adjust or react accordingly with a minimal margin error.
Alas, because of the fragility of such small pieces of technology, no matter how well designed, it in itself has little defenses against the usual electronic warfare, blasterfire or other types of weaponry and has to rely on the surrounding tech to be of high enough defensive quality to withstand any damage to its operations. Overloading is also still a risk when the amount of input makes calculations too unpredictable and heightens the rate of error.
