Darth Timoris

To err is human, to forgive divine. And I'm no god
prakith_by_corvusraaf-d9au6h4.jpg

Prakith was a mountainous fortress world located in the Prakith system of the Deep Core that, thanks to its unstable terrain and its isolation, was a difficult location to conquer by force.

The Republic knew this only too well as they’d tried it once. Which is why Melori was heading there.

A soft beep from the console alerted her that the Trezza was at last approaching its final destination. The ship gifted by her elder sister would have been useful the last time she came here – but she was getting ahead of herself.

Travel into the Deep Core was always dangerous; the densely packed stars and black holes at the galaxy's heart created gravity wells capable of warping the space-time continuum. Under such extreme conditions, hyperspace lanes were unstable, shifting or even collapsing without warning.

What the ignorant dismissed as chance or random luck was often the work of the Force. Some chose to call it destiny or fate, though these terms were far too simple to convey the subtle yet far-reaching influence it wielded. The Force was alive; it permeated the very fabric of the universe, flowing through every living creature. An energy that touched and influenced all living things, its currents-both light and dark-ebbed and flowed, shaping the patterns of existence. Which was why she was here.

The console beeped again, and the view outside the cockpit changed from the blinding white field of hyperspace to reveal the Prak system: a small red sun surrounded by five tiny planets. Taking manual control of her vessel, she descended on the third – a forbidding world largely covered by active volcanoes, burning lakes of magma, and dark fields of sulphuric ash.

As she entered the atmosphere, the scanners picked up several small cities scattered across the inhospitable surface. The nearest was several hundred kilometres to the north, but she turned her ship in the opposite direction, heading for the vast mountain range that ran east-west along the planet's equator.

As she drew closer, the ship detected a small settlement on the edge of the range. Surprisingly, an automated landing beacon was emitting a signal on standard channels. That meant there was still an active spaceport, though it was probably used by shuttles travelling from one location on the planet's surface to another, rather than visitors from off-world. But something in her memory was awakened. She remembered it.

Her theory was confirmed when she brought her ship in to touch down at the small landing pad on the edge of the settlement. Away to her right was a small mountain – the damage created when a ship hit it all too evident – even six years on.

The only other person on site was an old woman sitting in a chair outside a small, dilapidated customs booth. She watched curiously as Melori emerged from the ship, but made no effort to rise.

"Don't see too many visitors lately," she said as Melori approached. "You from Gallia?"

The woman was assuming she was a native of Prakith; the idea that someone from outside their system would come to visit this place obviously hadn't even crossed her mind.

"That's right," Melori said, seeing no reason to complicate the situation by revealing the truth. "I flew in from Gallia. I'm waiting for someone."

The Prakith system. Vengeance knew nothing about it. It was not a world he had been to or even had a reason to go to until recently. In this case the reason meant more to him than anything else in the Galaxy. She was here..he didn't know why she was.......he didn't even care. All that matter was that she was and there would be no distractions this time. At least he held the hope there would be no distractions.

The ship was a small one that held only one other soul on board. A pilot.........one of the best.........or at least the only one brave or stupid enough to make the trip with no advance notice, and no details on why.

All Vengeance gave him was a set of coordinates and a time to be there. it did help that Vengeance himself sat right beside the man. He focused on the journey taking a minute to stretch his legs as they popped out of hyper. The pilot finally spoke breaking the silence.

"Sir I don't mean to..........................."

The man hesitated making Vengeance smile.

"No go ahead............speak your mind."

The pilot nodded.

"Well Sir are you sure the reason we are risking death itself is worth it." "I mean a single ship.....no fleet....no orders.........just an off the books flight."

Vengeance smiled closing his eyes [member="Darth Timoris"] popping up in his mind. Without opening them he whispered.

"I would die a thousand deaths just to spend a single moment with her........."

The pilot frowned.

"Sorry did you say something Sir?"

Vengeance opened his eyes looking at the man.

"Yes it is worth it...........more than you could ever imagine."

The pilot shrugged seemingly satisfied the rest of the trip was reduced to silence until they got to there destination. Only a single other ship present on a small landing pad at the edged of a settlement. Even Vengeance had to chuckle as the pilot set it down the best he could.

She saw the ship approach and smiled. It was an uneasy smile — given what she’d heard and what she had to say. But she had to share what was on her mind. The alternative was to live the rest of her life not knowing.

So she steeled herself for full disclosure. Absolutely 100% sharing of her past, her present and her future. Nobody else knew half of what she was about to say. Some knew parts but the whole? She shook her head involuntarily.

She turned her back on the woman at the checkpoint and headed towards the ship. She was wearing her standard robes — black and neutral. There was nothing unique or individual about them. Her hood was down and her blonde hair blew in the breeze created by the ship’s landing. Her baby blue eyes were piercing — hoping to see inside the ship, to confirm he was on board.

She walked until she was close to where the landing ramp would lower and waited. Was it the wind, or was that a genuine tear in her eye? She rubbed it away with the back of her hand instantly and drew a deep breath. The next ten minutes might make or break her life. Was she being melodramatic?

For once she didn't think so.

Vengeance stood as the ship landed..........it was not the smoothest landing he had ever experienced. He turned looking at the pilot.

"When I disembark take off and return to duty." "A letter of commendation will be inserted into your file." "This flight never happened understood."

He didn't wait for an answer instead he pulled his hood over his head and made his way down the ramp. He could feel [member="Darth Timoris"] from the moment the ramp doors opened. It took everything he had not to break into a run scooping her up in his arms.

He took a deep breath slowly making his way towards her. When he got to her he dropped his hood reaching a hand out for her. His hand would cup her cheek his thumb caressing her cheek.

"Finally I manage to find you all alone with no distractions." "You have no idea how long I have waited for this Melori."

He smiled.

"It does beg the question why here though?"

She smiled and wanted to embrace him. To hold him tight and forget there was an outside world. She was a Sith Lord but she was also a woman and had desires like any other of the species.

So she smiled and held his hand as he caressed her cheek. And finally spoke. She turned to face the mountain.

"You see, nobody knows me." She reflected that she only knew him as Vengeance - but this ran deeper than just her name. "And I don't mean I'm misunderstood," she smiled. "I mean I have secrets. And issues because of them."

She pointed to the charring on the mountain. "I crashed my ship there. Six years I lay in a coma as a result. In truth I was shot down. I chose to join the One Sith the same day the Republic invaded this place. And I was flying a Jedi ship. My sister's Jedi ship, that I'd stolen from her."

"You see..my sister is Corvus. Corvus Raaf. The Jedi Grand Master."

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance looked at the mountain for a few moments as if studying it. Only hearing about her sister did he turn away from it and look back at her.

"All secrets create issues." "It is the nature of secrets."

He walked back over to her standing just behind her. He wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Am I supposed to stop loving you because your sister is the Dark Lord's biggest enemy." "I have heard of Corvus before..back on Ord Mirit from a Jedi I fought there."

He smiled just looking at the mountain.

"I was born on a One Sith world but I was born Imperial...not Sith." "What I told your Master on Dagobah was true." "When I was 12 men broke into my home and murdered my father." "They tried to kill me." "They failed to do so but I only managed to kill two of the three."

He paused for a few minutes before he continued.

"I was given a choice." "Life in prison for murder or be sent to the Sith." "I wanted Vengeance for the death of my father." "So I chose to become Sith and dedicated my life to the sole pursuit of that person." "I committed to it heart and soul hence the name Vengeance."

He chuckled.

"That is until I met you........................."

She stood there as he embraced her. She wanted to lean back, to nuzzle the back of her head into his face. But she remained rigid. The disclosure wasn’t the secret. It was just the start of the tale.

His story was moving, she understood his motives – she could relate to them. All that kept her alive in her coma was her hatred of her sister. At least according to the doctors.

But she could not pull away from him, his touch was too important. So she remained in his arms and when he’d finished speaking, she carried on.

“There is more. How it affects you I cannot predict. But my feelings for you dictate that you learn the truth. The full truth. My first Master,” she chuckled. What was it with her and her choice of Masters? “Was a well known Sith Lord. Darth Arcanix. Known for being the one to turn Jedi.”

“Also my sister. And she was the master of turning. In fact she turned to the Jedi herself.” She carried on quickly, in case he thought this was all she had to share.

“And then Darth Venefica. A Voice of the Dark Lord took me on. I became a Knight and a co-Voice. And then she stepped down from the position – as if you can stop being a Voice, but I understand the politics. I was quizzed. Was I turning my back on the Sith too? Was I abandoning my Voice role? I answered truthfully. No.”

“I heard no more for days and then, on an official visit as Voice, someone told me I had been replaced. At first I thought it a joke. Surely a Hand or another Voice would inform me? Apparently not.” There was bitterness in her voice now.

“I was discarded. So I raised the subject myself. I was told to betray my Master and leave the Sisterhood and be granted any sector as Voice that I desired.”

“But she is my Master. As Zannah and Maul and Vader remained loyal to their Masters even when they’d reached Sith Lord status, I could not understand their approach.”

“And then she declared war on the One Sith. It was a personal attack but was taken as the Sisterhood declaring war. And I was told. Choose.”

Now she turned to face him. Tears had been streaking down her face. “But I don’t want to choose. I refuse to choose. But it seems I have no alternative. So now I am a traitor. To the One Sith and to the Sisterhood. I have chosen neither. I am an outcast.”

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance listened to her as she talked about her first Master and what happened to her. The surprising part was Venefica. A woman who didn't do anything without a well thought out plan. He started to process it all when she turned to face him tears streaming down her face.

He reached up wiping the tears from her face. He smiled softly to her.

"It sounds like you have had a rough month."

He took a deep breath.

"Melori nothing is more important than family." "As I told my Apprentice the first time we met." "Titles are simply just words they have no meaning." "It is the actions that matter."

He smiled.

"The only thing you can betray is yourself." "You say you are an outcast." "Well I don't believe that." "I think you are finally seeing what your first Master most likely say." "Something I have suspected for awhile now."

He hugged her tight.

"Being Sith is about the struggle for Power a struggle that will see trample over everyone and everything around you." "Being Sith is politics." "Remember the code....peace is a lie............." "Well so is equality and cooperation apparently."

Vengeance breathed in deep letting it out slowly.

"I am not going to ask you to choose anything Melori." "One Sith.......Sisterhood.............Venefica..............or me." "I love you and I will kill anyone that tries to harm you."

He took a half step back but held on to her looking down with a smile.

"You are family and that matters to me more than power, more than position." "Not even the Dark Lord could change my mind." "I don't want you to worry." "I am here for you no matter what."

Melori held him as tightly as she could. Sith, One Sith, Sister…right here and right now she was a woman. And a vulnerable one that needed someone. But not just anyone. She needed [member="Vengeance"]. For when this moment passed she would no longer be Melori. She would be Darth Timoris once more.

It’s meaning was well chosen by the Dark Lord. It means the owner of fear. A title she was bestowed with for a reason. A reason she’d forgotten apparently. Well - she would be feared again.

As she lay her head on his chest she spoke, softly. “The Jedi abhor love. They feel it’s too strong an emotion to ignore. The Sith hate it because it makes them weak.”

She pulled back now and looked into his eyes. “I am worthy and I am not weak. But I love. I love you. Our love may have to remain a secret given your position within the One Sith. I no longer have any qualms but will not broadcast our relationship.”

“I once wondered if I were the Sith’ari. Then I figured I was overstating my importance. Now I’m wondering if that is to be my role after all? To make the Sith stronger by destroying them all? I shall attain perfect strength, perfect power and perfect destiny and…at a time of my choosing, I shall strike.”

Her face was momentarily blank, then her irises morphed from a pale blue to a sulphurous yellow, tinged with crimson. And she stepped forward and kissed Vengeance. She put her left hand behind his head and pulled him into her. It was no gentle affair – but a kiss of pure and unbridled passion – that carried a promise of more.

So much more.

Vengeance smiled at [member="Darth Timoris"] listening to her talk about the Sith'ari. It was a familiar topic and hearing her mention it made him wonder if he was the only one that didn't think he was some Sith legend reborn.

"My position in the One Sith?" "Oh my sweet Melori I have no position in the One Sith." "I am Master less.........always have been." "I owe no allegiance to anyone or anything but my love for you." "I am just the ignorant brute who killed too many people to be ignored any more."

He watched the change in her eyes before the kiss his hands going to her hips and his intensity matching hers. He held it until the point of getting almost breathless before breaking the kiss.

"I have never hid my feelings for you and I am not about to start now." "I will not forsake you and I will not deny you." "If it means I pay for it with my life then I pay it gladly." "I will not apologize for my feelings and I do not regret them." "Most importantly I will not allow the Sith to try and make me regret them."

He smiled.

"I would shout them from the tallest mountain."

He chuckled.

"I will not push you Melori but you are stuck with me sweetheart."

Men!

When you wanted to talk they didn’t. They’d rather drink a beer or watch a holovid. And when you wanted…action? They decided it was time to talk.

In between his explanations she kissed him, her arms under his, her hands pressed against his shoulder blades, pulling him into her. She revelled in his touch and deep-down enjoyed his words. She just wanted his lips more.

When the initial passion had died down, she spoke again, content to rest her head on his chest, one hand entwined with his. “I am still loyal to the Dark Lord. I always will be. But those that serve him?” The venom in her words was obvious.

“But you do yourself a disservice. I love you, you know that, and will have your back – as you have pledged to support me. But do not bring unnecessary attention on yourself. I do not dislike open attention – but by the same token, it is not necessary. If others were closest to the Dark Lord then perhaps I could return? But I cannot see that happening. I am no Sith’ari. I am a soldier…a right-hand perhaps. Not a leader.”

“No. I will bide my time and when the opportunity arises? I shall strike. But right now, we have my ship and there is a different opportunity…”

She looked up at him, her eyebrows were raised.

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance at her with a smile.

"Oh my love I am the Duke of Disservice......remember ignorant brute." "If you want to go back Melori then I will take you back and you can tell the Dark Lord yourself you are still loyal." "I wouldn't recommend it though."

He chuckled.

"My father once told me the one's who don't want to be leaders usually make the best kind."

He grinned a wicked grin reaching down and picking her up by here hips wrapping his arms around her waist holding her in the air. He looked up at her with a smile.

"Or we can take advantage of that different opportunity and worry about everything else later."

He started to walk towards her ship not bothering to put her down first. He just carried her and hoped he didn't trip over anything. Boy wouldn't that kill the mood....would be funny though.

Funny is always a relative term…

She appreciated Vengeance’s humour and despite her desires, allowed him to lighten the situation.

“He will know I am loyal,” she said – as much to herself as [member="Vengeance"]. “I do not need to tell him. At least not yet. One day perhaps…” There was suddenly a faraway look in her eyes but instantly she snapped back to the here and now.

“Me a leader? Look at me, you’re carrying me to my ship. Some leader I’d make.” But a seed was planted. It was a facet of her that her Master had been developing and once she intended to pursue.

But for now? The different opportunity was foremost in her mind. “Later sounds good. Much later…I have plans for you.”

Fortunately she’d left the ramp of the ship lowered. Opening it up now would kill the mood. And would not be funny.

Vengeance smiled setting [member="Darth Timoris"] down once they got to the top of the ramp.

"You're going to kill me after aren't you." "I admit I will die a happy man but I am entirely too pretty to die."

He chuckled pushing her towards where he thought one of the living quarters was. His touch was gentle but urging. He really didn't know what was going on in that mind of hers. His hands were on her hips as they made their way through the ship. It was a nice ship. Maybe it was about time he upgraded his choice of taxi service.

He smiled at her.

"Lead on my Lady." "Destiny awaits."

So it was partially a stab but mostly she just knew the ship better than he did and for all he knew he was pushing her towards the engine room.

Melori laughed. The suggestion she was some sort of black widow was humorous. And some way short of the mark.

“Way too pretty,” she said and kissed him on the neck, her tongue drifting up to his ear.

She gave hand signals to indicate the direction of travel and the small crew on the ship scattered as they progressed — making themselves scarce.

Finally they reached her room and the ample double bed. She stretched her arms out, making her weight awkward to carry and tipping them over, so they landed on the mattress with a bump.

Her hands were frantic now, disrobing herself and him whilst at the same time kissing him. Sabers clattered to the floor and boots clunked off the edge of the bed as she disrobed. There was no rush — but at the same time she felt an urgency.

Since she’d been a Sith she’d been celibate — and tonight promised to be very special indeed. For both of them.

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance smiled his hands grabbing her hands halting her frantic motions.

"Easy now." "We have all night." "You act as if this is a dream you are suddenly going to wake up from."

He gently placed his hands on her shoulders just above her collarbone pushing her down holding her there for a moment. He looked at her with a loving smile finishing disrobing himself. Knowing the urgency she felt He would take his time and tease her. It was unfair and underhanded he knew but it would be a night she would not only remember but hold her over until they could be together again.

Inside a ship, time is more of a concept than an absolute. Yes they were on a planet – but the windowless cabin’s low-lighting was constant.

But her thirst and hunger told her they’d been here for many, many hours.

She lay in his arms – reminiscing about the night before. Was it too early to talk of love? Was it right to, given the precarious nature of their line of work – his employers.

She allowed her fingers to dance across his chest before hitting an intercom button and requesting refreshments. Whilst she waited she simply lay there, quiet, reflecting on their time together. All their time together, not just last night.

A few minutes later there was a knock on the cabin door and a woman entered with a tray of hot and cold drinks and various items of food.

Melori sat up and drank a glass of blue milk quickly before tearing a pastry open and cramming it with scrambled eggs before eating it hungrily.

She smiled at Vengeance, crumbs of food at the corner of her lips.

Finally she grinned. “Not bad as a first attempt,” she said, “But I think I need to flight-test you out a few more times before I’m sure you’re the right model.”

She then fed him various concoctions of food. Some naturally appealing and some mixed just to gauge his reaction. “You need building up.”

“We'll have to work on your stamina,” she added laughing.

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance held [member="Darth Timoris"] close knowing Sith cuddles were the best kind of cuddles. He looked over the food when it was brought in. Some of it he ate and some of it he shook his head. When she made a crack about his stamina he chuckled reaching over grabbing her by the hips and pulling her back down laying flat. He leaned over planting a soft kiss on her lips.

"And I suppose you were an expert your first time huh?"

His fingers danced up and down her stomach for a moment before he rolled out of bed stretching. Looking at her lovingly Vengeance gave her a wink.

"As much as I would love to lay around in bed with you all day how about we do a little exploring?" "Since I am here may as well learn a little more about this place."

Melori enjoyed the banter with Vengeance. He was a balance of attentive lover and bad-ass Sith - and she thoroughly approved.

And she reflected that despite the fact she'd been to Prakith once before, she'd never visited the place. She'd passed out landing and woke up in a hospital on Coruscant six years later.

Her knowledge of Sith in ancient times was limited - but oddly one she did know about had visited here, so she knew a little about the planet. And of course her sister came here too - which is why she'd decided to fly to the place.

"We have a deal. I'll shower and be ready in fifteen minutes. I have some speeder bikes in the hangar. I know how much you like to ride one, so we can use them to get around. Anywhere in particular you'd like to visit?"

[member="Vengeance"]

He smiled leaning down and kissing her cheek.

"You know this planet better than I." "Why don't we start with the places you know and see where are feet take us."

He turned heading out of the room letting her get cleaned up. While she did he would wander around the ship seeing the rest of the ship and interacting with the crew. He would come back exactly 16 minutes later and laugh.

"Hey don't take up all the hot water." "Shrinkage is so not cool first thing in the morning."

He laughed crashing the shower whether [member="Darth Timoris"] was finished or not betting on at least a halfhearted protest from her.
