Kian Karr
Kel Dorable
Kian glanced around the group, pleased by the progress they were making. Kian could not hope to make any of them masters of any particular Form today, but he could hope to inspire them to continue their training in any of those that interested them. Some Jedi, like Kian, focused their combative techniques on a single Form, while others mastered several.
"Very good everyone." Kian said returning toward the front of the group. Igniting his blade, Kian extended his free hand out in front of him and held his lightsaber back, the hilt by his head and the blade extended out before him parralel to the ground, in the classical opening stance of Soresu.
"Form III of lightsaber combat, known as Soresu, is the most defensive combat technique of the Jedi." Kian said dropping out of the opening stance and turning to the side, bringing his blade in front of him defensively. With a signal from the force, several training remotes rose up before him and began opening fire. Kian was far more comfortable with Soresu than Makashi, given that his own discipline of Shien was derived from the form. His blade danced back and force, small effortless maneuvers that kept his body covered and sent the bolts away from him.
"Soresu relies on tight, efficient bladework and dodges to maximize the defensive capabilities of a lightsaber." Kian said as he continued to batter away blaster bolts and simply stepping aside from those that would not hit him. "Practitioners of Soresu use constant blade motion to build momentum and conserve energy. The goal of Soresu is to outlast an opponent, either to talk them down from fighting or to allow them to exhaust themselves against your defenses until they make a mistake which can be exploited."
"Many view Soresu as the ideal form of combat for a Jedi, as it mirrors our philosophies of pacifism and non-aggression." Kian said shrugging, "While others view it as a weak fighting style due to its lack of attack techniques."
"I can say that Soresu Masters are virtually untouchable....Corvus Raaf was a Master of the Form when Grandmaster of the Jedi of the Republic and my experience from dueling with her was that Soresu certainly provided an impenetrable defense, but had to rely on shifts to other techniques to effectively go on the attack."
"Lets see how you all do..." Kian said smiling and sending the remotes into action.

Kian waved a hand and the training remotes that were shooting at him stopped and turned toward the group. "Lets see how you all do..." Kian said smiling and sending the remotes into action.
