SPECIAL FEATURES
  • "Stab Proof" Vest
  • Sealed Armor w/helmet
  • Officer Belt
  • Barebones "HUD" to see out of helmet
Strengths:
  • Blaster Protection: As the most popular weapons in the galaxy tend to be blasters, and the use of armorweave allows the officer's uniform to be more than sufficient for the purpose of protection.
  • Protective Vest: The Officer's vest is designed to be difficult to stab or shoot through with kinetic weaponry. While it doesn't stop a slug thrower or knife from cutting through their arm or leg, it just might save them from a shot to the chest.
  • Sealed Armor: Sealed to help fight against chemical and biological warfare. However the helmet is near exclusively usable by military personnel.
  • The Long Belt of the Law: As an Officer, a lot can be put on the belt. Blaster pistol, stun prod, force cuffs, a comlink, additional blaster cells, whatever an officer might need.
  • Low Tech: Due to being constructed with very little integrated technology, should the wearer be struck by an emp or ion attack of some kind, the suit as a whole loses little functionality.
Weaknesses:
  • Limbs: The use of thicker armorweave on the vest and shoulders may protect the officer from blasters and kinetic weapons, the limbs of the officer aren't nearly as protected from kinetic weapons.
  • EMP: EMP weapons are especially dangerous, as they negate the helmet's basic HUD. Like the P-02 riot gear, this means the helmet cannot be worn, opening their head to threats similarly to how the limbs are more vulnerable to kinetic weapons than the chest.
  • Durasteel This Is Not: None of the armor is particularly strong, more or less being little more than a scout's armor. The most protective, high tech part of the armor is the military's duraplast helmet. Truthfully, this is little more than a protective civilian armor made for the police.
  • Kinetic Force: While very good at stopping physical weapons, physical force will travel through the armor. A kinetic weapon may not puncture the armor, necessarily, it will cause an impact that causes damage to the wearer.
DESCRIPTION

The job of a police officer is dangerous duty, requireing one to be both sufficiently protected as well as approachable by the populace. Too much protection and you blur the line of officer and soldier, and alienate the populace. Too little, and it becomes impossible to stay safe, or identify the officers on duty. A simple solution, beyond Nordel's merging of much of its police and military infrastructure, was to create an armorweave uniform capable of standing out within a crowd. The black and white uniform stands out in day or night, and is unmistakable to those they serve.

An additional, thicker vest was added to protect the center of mass, the most likely place to get hurt, and a poncho for poor weather. The P-01, then only a police uniform, was completed satisfactorily, and a hat was added for good measure. The military, while finding the armor insufficient for use as a mainline armor, opted to create a duraplast helmet, and create a seal for the armor as a scout's field armor. The P-01 is far more likely to be used by a police officer than a soldier, but it is a sufficient armor to keep someone alive against most situations a law officer could expect.

That is to say, not the front lines, but possibly a bank heist.
