Image Source: All images are of Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda.

Name: Noomay

Loyalties: Noomay is a medic with the Underground, serving in his home, the Kathol Outback.

Role: Noomay is a medic trained by the Uukaablian doctors of the Kathol Outback. A subtle but skilled Force-sensitive, he functions as a wandering trainer in the ways of his people and of Maz Kanata. He is an accomplished tinkerer.

Development Threads: The Freaking Blizzards of Castameer (73 posts) - Noomay provides medical aid and technical help throughout the thread.

Age: 127, late middle age for his species

Species: Bereth-Aku

Appearance: Noomay is a wizened, greenish-brown Bereth-Aku, 1.2 metres tall. He has the look of a wanderer: weathered, poor, and somewhat disreputable. His footclaws are often stained with engine grease and the detritus of shadowports. Like most Bereth-Aku, he wears no clothing.

Personality: Noomay talks too much on subjects that concern him. He is generally tranquil, but prone to blatting in surprise when something genuinely impressive comes along. He has an outlook not unlike the Bendu: mellow, pragmatic, willing to urge others to take risks. This speaks to a profound inner frustration which wars against his search for serenity. Like most medics, he's seen too much. Thus, he aims for patience and tranquility whenever possible.

Force Sensitivity: Low-grade Master equivalent, Light Side. The Bereth-Aku are a deeply spiritual people, Force-attuned in a quiet and mild way. They tend to have a sense of when things will or won't work out, and a deep trust that, on balance, all will eventually be as it should. Their conception of the Force is bound up in those instincts. They view the Force in a spiritual, not functional, way, and have essentially zero historical contact with any formal Force traditions except the Wardens of the Sky and the Aing-Tii Monks. The phrase 'use the Force' is baffling and silly to the Bereth-Aku. Additionally, Noomay is a dedicate of Maz Kanata, which makes him somewhat more pragmatic than most Bereth-Aku Forcers. It is important to note that Noomay has zero Jedi or Sith training, and thus has little ability in the Core Powers.

Weapon of Choice: Walking stick, fists, feet, projected fighting. However, Noomay's people are not natural combatants. In any contest of endurance running or prolonged combat, the Bereth-Aku will be at a speed-related disadvantage. Noomay prefers to tuck himself inside his shell and wait out most hazards. Bereth-Aku can withdraw their heads, necks, and limbs into their shells, and segmented flaps of shell can seal openings from within. If calm, Bereth-Aku can hold their breath for up to an hour. The density and insulation of a Bereth-Aku's shell and related connective tissue is such that, when sealed inside its shell, a Bereth-Aku can survive submersion or hard vacuum for quite a while.

Skills: Noomay is an experienced medic and a respectable tinkerer. As a Bereth-Aku, a medic, and a pragmatic student of Maz Kanata's legacy, Noomay has talent in the following abilities:

Wealth: None whatsoever. Noomay gives away most of his pay. He's remarkably poor at keeping track of money.

Combat Function: Very little. As a Bereth-Aku, Noomay's greatest defense is to hide within his extremely durable shell. If utterly necessary, however, Noomay is preternaturally skilled at identifying pressure points and striking them with his body, the Force, or both. He can incapacitate painlessly and without causing lasting harm.

Notable Possessions: Noomay is guardian of one of the Books of Takodana.

History: Noomay, like several Bereth-Aku before him, encountered a Book of Takodana during his decades of wandering from medic job to medic job. The book's insights changed how he saw the Force. He became much more pragmatic, and turned his powerful instincts to more precise use. He began to learn to actively touch the Force, rather than passively accept it, and in doing so he became quite a decent healer. Rather than cure everything, however, he specialized in abilities which allowed him to stabilize patients for transport: control of disease, pain, poison, mental turmoil, dangerous unconsciousness, and natural healing processes, for example. At the height of his self-directed study, he even learned Transfer Force, the ability to donate some of his energy to those in need of strength. Already a visionary and an empath, Noomay was now a full-fledged Master of the Force -- albeit one who couldn't throw a Force-blast, lift a boulder, or swing a lightsabre. But he considered his Force skills complete...and kept right on working as a medic.

In due course, he signed on with the Underground during the purging of the Black Rose's remnants. He was among the Underground personnel who crash-landed on Castameer during the Omega Crisis. With occasional tinkering and dedicated medical aid, Noomay made a significant difference despite his species' trouble with frigid climates.

Noomay wanders from world to world, in and around the Kathol Outback, and can often be found in Underground ships or bases. He is often willing to share the Book of Takodana. As noted, he talks too much, and someone searching for Force-related wisdom may find themselves bombarded with pleasant anecdotes, homely wisdom, and scathing condemnations of the major Force Orders.

Intent: An NPC trainer in an unusual Force tradition or two.

That's umm...a lot of gifs. And the dev checks out so I see nothing wrong with this submission.

And I echo Silencia's sentiment: Someone has been watching some kung fu panda lately.

Approved pending secondary.
