No Place like Home

She had grown tired of the galaxy, tired of the outsiders. Satara Hawk had learned much from them for which she was grateful. She had learned much of things she would not get a chance to learn if she had remained on Dathomir. But it had been her wish to learn and so she went out. Now, it was time to go home. Where her family and clan needed her. Where she had a lot of work to do.

And it was good to come home. To be home. Walking through the Singing Mountain territory, she inhaled the Dathomir air deeply and smiled. Indeed, home was home and no place could equal it. Ever.

Not from now from her home, the Witch reached to the Force and pushed it ahead, feeling the clan alive with young and old, going about their business on the outside and the inside of the clan. So before she would go out to gree the rest of the clan, she reached out with the Force and nudged her family to meet her in outskirts. She would greet family first.

Elayne got a nudge in the force, which was strange, but it could only be her mother she snuck out of the camp. She then spotted her, She spotted her mother. It had been so long, Elayne couldn't believe that she was back. She practically knocked Satara over with the tackle/hug that she delivered. She kept hugging her for a while, glad to see and feel her mother again. "Mom!" She got out, it had been so long. She had missed her so much.

Elyane had wished her mother would come back soon. She had been struggling with her teacher, it just wasn't the same as when her mom had helped her get the hang of things. She squeezed her tight, glad to have her back. " Mom, its been forever! " She managed to get out, she didn't know where to start, as her mother probably had millions of things to share.. going into the outside world.

Only needing to wait a little while, Satara caught sight of her daughter coming quickly towards her only some moments after. Before she could even speak, greet Elayne, she was tackle-hugged, causing her to lose balance and stumble back, barely preventing herself from falling back. Still, the Witch didn't mind, chuckling at the greeting she had received. The 'mom' bit though... Satara raised all her children both Paecean and Galactic Basic and some took to the outsider's words more than others did. "Hi'ja, you know not all like you using so much Basic. I do hope you've been careful with that." It felt as a necessarily to pass down the knowledge of the foreign language but she knew not all Witches in the clan were in favor of it.

Pulling away enough for her hands to find her daughter's cheeks, Satara planted a kiss on each of her cheekbones and smiled before she slowly brushed her hair off her face. "It hasn't been long this time, my darling. But I'm here now. No more travels with the Jai." It was a promise. One she intended on keeping. Her time with the outsiders were over, it was time to be home.

(Hi'ja - daughter; Jai - Jedi or Male Witch, in this case Jedi)

"Sorry Ina, I was so excited i didn't care what word I used..." She attempted to retreat as her ina kissed her cheeks, " Must you always do that" She said trying to feign annoyance but couldn't pull it off. No more travels with the Jai! That meant she was going to stay here. Elayne was so happy she didn't know what to do, She might be 21 but she was rather childish... as of yet. So her face gave away all of her emotions.
"Jaa’mae" She managed to get out, but then thought of training happened, Did that mean she had time to help her in her studies... Elayne might be older but her mother meant the world to her as did all of her family and thus she wanted to train with her mother. The truth was that Elayne had used far too much basic... and the elders weren't happy with her let alone her makeshift trainer. " Ina, does this mean you will train me? in the nagi’tanka" She said with a hopeful smiled as she might of ran off on her trainer.. Which would mean she would be stuck with the fun chores again. It was hard enough that she didn't do well, did they have to rub it in by making her do so much?

Ina= mother
Jaa'mae = I love you
nagi'tanka = the force.

Ahh, Ina. One of the many words they used on the planet to substitute the foreigner's word for Mom. That was certainly much better. It wasn't so much about it being used around her but the habit was good to have among their people. "It's quite alright, darling. But it's better to use our own language as much as possible." But yes, she did. "Of course. It's the prerogative of a Ma'dri," she quickly responded, following her words with a big smile.

Her smile softened at her girl's words. "Jaa'mae," she said right back.

Would her return mean she would train her? In the Force? She nodded. "Indeed it wil. Same as with your Pa'tre and siblings." After so many years and so many children, it had been a tradition in the Hawk family, one Satara was very proud of considering how many Elders told her it was impossible and not right learning the Force. She knew better now, had her own way of understanding how both work and wished for all her descendants to know it as well.

(Ma'dri - mother; Pa'tre - father)

"How did the trip go? Did you learn anything new?" She said, also curious if perhaps she had brought gifts but she supposed her mother had been busy... and wouldn't think of such a thing even if ever eager daughters did. " Speaking of which does coup ate know your here ? " She knew he would be glad to see Ina. She frowned " Ina I have been struggling with my spells... I just can't seem to get them to work most of the time..." She felt left out, she was older than girls who could do much better. Yet they weren't coming easy to her. She was glad to be here with her ina, to really tell the truth, it made the world to her to be with her family.
She smiled at those thoughts, glad to have her back.. now they could be a family once more, and she got to learn the force.
coup ate - father

"The trip was certainly interesting. I got to go on a mission with the Jai this time," Satara mentioned the little detail of her latest adventure. There would be time to speak of it in detail soon. But had she learned anything new? That she very much had. Though it wasn't knowledge of the Force nor anything of the sort. It was of Elayne' sister. It worried her, knowing her her daughter was as stubborn and naive as she had been. It had been dangerous times for her, a slippery slope. She had been near falling forever and would have it had hadn't been for Madoc. Satara couldn't image herself if she hadn't met him. She wouldn't have had her children if she hadn't either. He was their father, they took after him as well. With anyone else, they would have been completely different. Satara couldn't imagine that either.

Her secret was safe with her though. None of the clan spoke of what she had done so many decades ago, none of her children knew. It was her biggest secret. One she would take with her grave. But her children's paths concerned her. "I saw your sister and brother there. It was.... interesting to spend time with them again." Even as she spoke of Spencer and Aston, it was hard for her to even mention it. At that point, Satara decided that she would first speak to Madoc about what she had learned of Spencer's adventures. Though the children's father was there and they got to meet him, Madoc had raised them with her, it made sense for him to be involved as well. In their relationship and life, Satara and Madoc treated themselves as equals. In her eyes, it was why they had made it work.

Did Madoc know she was here? Satara nodded. "I gave him a nudge through the Force, same as with you. I'm sure he's just busy with something, he'll join us soon." Her mate was the mate of the clan mother. It was a role he took very seriously. As much as he kept her down to earth, he also took his role very seriously.

Her daughter was struggling with her spells? Couldn't get them to work most of the time? That didn't seem to be right. "I'm going to have to have a little chat with your trainer. Clearly they're doing something wrong." Really, when she had left Elayne, she was progressing well. Nothing happened in a day, even her education was still ongoing, after nearly a century in a half. But still, she'd have to have a conversation with the Witch who took over. Something clearly wasn't being done right.

@[member="Elayne Hawk"]

Elayne smiled" Are they coming back?" She loved spencer and Aston... they were her playmates... She missed them so. and a mission with the jai... Elanye loved her family and it always stung that they had joined the Jai. Elayne couldn't imagine leaving home, she loved it to much. " I do miss them, I still remember playing with them. "
She looked at her Ina, knowing that she was here to stay, but now she wanted to do things with her, and first was an family outing... she wondered if a picnic was too outsider to be considered. She decided against it and would propose a walk, perhap through the fields she remembered.
She was pondering how her mother was, hoping she hadn't gotten her trainer in too much trouble but she did struggle. "Ina, I will have you know that coup ate has missed you very much just like me... well maybe more than me, but I was wondering perhaps we could go on a walk all three of us.." She said as she loved her family, and wished that Spencer and Aston were here.

Were they coming back? "No, not right now. They still have much work to do." And not just them. Spencer's trainer needed a lot to learn herself, along with teaching her daughter. "Don't worry. They'll come for a visit in good time." This was their home after all. Though she didn't think it would happen too soon, seeing as they now knew their father. That would probably take up a bit of their time as well.

Just as Elayne spoke of her father, a male figure began to approach them. "Well now, no wonder my ears were burning so," Madoc spoke up a little louder, watching his mate and youngest daughter with his golden eyes. He moved over to them, wrapped one arm around his daughter, planting a quick kiss on the side of her forehead before he pulled Satara closed to him and kissed her on the lips briefly. "Welcome back, le'mita Jaa'nu." Satara didn't say anything, leaning closer to him at his words and resting her head on his shoulder for a bit.

(Le'mita Jaa-nu - my beloved)

Elayne hugged her coup ate tightly when he came by her. she then smirked as she approached the two, and interrupted their moment by putting her arms around both of them as best she could trying to hug them both. " So I was thinking we could go on a walk unless you need some time to your selves.. I can go and visit Nadie, as and let her know your here" She said, as she has always enjoyed playing with Nadie, The rancor was a member of her family as far as Elayne was concerned. Elayne was glad to have them both here, if only Specner and Aston were here she thought. She let go of them, and looked to them, wondering if perhaps her Ina was tired from her trip, if that was the case they didn't need to go on a walk.. but if not well she wanted some time with both of her parents. It wasn't often you got to see both of them in the same place. Especially when Ina had gone so far away.
@[member="Satara Hawk"]

A walk. Both parents looked at Elayne for a moment as she suggested it or offered to leave them alone. "Nonsense, we can have a walk. You two can fill me on what has been happening here while I was away." Satara quickly told them. "Now that we've settled that!" Madoc didn't need more than that, nudging the two females from both of their sides ahead, leading them into the walk Elayne suggested.

But even what was meant to be a nice family walk, Satara couldn't help but go back to what Elayne had told her. The issue with her spells. "Madoc, why has Elayne been struggling with her spells? Which of the Witches has taken over her training? And why haven't you done it?" She quickly asked everything she wished. Her mate was just as quick with his response though, first giving her a lock that simply read 'you're kidding, right?' before he went on to answer her: "Satara, you know exactly how things work. As soon as you were gone, I'm just one of the slaves. The council assigned her a Witch in your absence and any attempt I made was just laughed at. It amazes me that even after a hundred years, they still act like I don't even know what spells are." When in truth, not only did he know spells but he also knew the powers of the outsiders. He had been Satara's first student, all that she had learned, she passed to her mate. But such was his life, no matter how good they were, the Singing Mountain Clan was just as closed about these things as most clans on Dathomir. It was only when Satara was around that things were different. She made them different for her family and any male slave who wished to learn, could always come to her.

She smiled so glad to be with the both of them. " yes, when I went to coup ate for help but when he tried.. well it didn't go well. " She had been trying... but it didn't seem enough she always had to do chores and errends as character building and punishment for not improving.. She tried to not dwell on it. " I go out to practice with Nadie, she protects me... its hard to work with others I get nervous..." She knew that if she kept at it she might get a spell, but she wasn't sure... She knew her first spell from Ina very well, Weathersense... but her knew one, it was like she was told the wrong words or something. It just never seemed to work. " I tried to control fire the other day.. " she said trying to hide the fact that after the first few seconds the fire reverted to what it had been doing. She was mostly just glad to have her family her minus Nadie and her siblings of course. " Do you think that maybe if I train extra hard, I can visit Spencer!" She said out of the blue, she suddenly had decided that it was her goal to become self sufficent enough to venture out like her Ina did. That was a noble idea right? maybe she was being impulsive again.. she seemed to have that problem..

When she went to her father, things didn't go well? Satara blinked. "And your father should know by now that he doesn't require the council's permission to train his daughter. He already has mine." She knew how things were, as did her mate. But she often preferred if family matters remained in the family. Still, her mate did prefer to sometimes go about formal channels. Which was his way of supporting her and her desire to bring on a new age for the clan, one where men even as slaves wouldn't be so looked down. Unfortunately it didn't work out so well. Just as it didn't work so well during his time as Clan Father, stepping into her place. Still, Satara admired his persistence.

At least the herd mother was always there for her children, protecting them as if they were her own. Relationships Witches had with rancors, those that had formed them, were hard to explain. There were no words to use. Often they trained to explain it when asked to but even that was just an attempt. "She will always be there for you, hi'ja," Satara could always count on Nadie on that. "You shouldn't worry of others," Satara added as well, looking at Elayne. Madoc nodded in agreement. "Indeed. If we cared about what others said, much of what we are today would have never happened." Neither would Satara learn the skills she possessed, nor would she pass it on to him. Today, Witches were more open-minded, many of them, but of course there were always those that remained old fashioned.

The mention of controlling fire made Satara look over Madoc at Elayne, curious to hear what happened with that. But instead, she heard her switch topics about wanting to visit Spencer. Which, after what Satara had heard, wasn't the right time for. Of course, she still had to talk to Madoc about that. "We'll talk about that later, Elayne. What happening with the Arrows of Fire spell?" Of course, at this stage Elayne wouldn't be able to control direction but some use of fire was certainly possible, even if un-directed. Satara was curious what had happened.

@[member="Elayne Hawk"]

"It worked for a little bit... like a few seconds.. but the fire seemed to ignore me after that... " She smiled, and kept walking with them, She had learned to not let her spells get to her. She liked the force more... it make sense, she could feel life, and things around her. She didn't have to remember the right words and such. She wondered why Spencer had to go so far away. She enjoyed her time with her parents. She also wondered if her Father would inform Satara, that she used basic far more than she should, whenever she could actually, Which is probably why she struggled with spells, she didn't quite have mastery of the fact she knew two languages, and jumbled them in her head, granted she was better at her native language.

@[member="Satara Hawk"]

She nodded, listening to Elayne. In the end, Satara just smiled for a moment, taking in the words. Glancing back at her daughter, she merely said: "That's normal. You have to keep practicing. Remember your Trial by Fire always, at your young age, you can only be sure of its success after trying it five times." In time, that would be unnecessary of course but while she was still so young, it was a good way to go about it.

Her daughter might have thought she was falling back but she seemed to forget how old her parents and siblings were. Spells took years and decades. Nothing could be accomplished in a day. "Just remember I'm 142, your father a year younger, Adel'aide is 116 and Kytarra 114. Nothing we know happened in a single day. Training takes a long time, Elayne. You shouldn't worry about it so much."

@[member="Elayne Hawk"]

Elayne smiled and shrugged " I guess... I just don't like being the odd one out. you all can do so much... " She said looking at the two and keeping up with them. " So what if I used Galatic more than I let on Ina... " She said feeling guilty, it had been bothering her.. She thought about making an old joke but decided against it as it wasn't worth it she decided. " So, when will you start training me? " She said eagerly curious... and ready, she loved training with her Ina, she was so much better than the other trainers. She learned better, mainly because she knew she had to behave for her Ina, or else well granted she was 21 but still a kid in the scheme of things. She wanted to be a spellweaver... so bad, but of course the only thing she could do is wait, it was mainly time and effort.. but she was curious when she would learn the 'cool' things.. of course she knew that she had to have the basics down first

@[member="Satara Hawk"]

"You're not the odd one out, Elayne. If anyone is, then that would certainly be me," Madoc quickly pointed out, giving her one of his warm fatherly smiles as they continued walking. Satara said nothing in that time, thinking of her words and then those that came after, of her daughter using so much Galactic Basic. "I'm not saying its bad, Elayne. I'm saying you need to keep to who you are as well. Paecean is our culture, our history. No matter what, we must not let Basic push our mother tongue away. No matter what." It was a tricky subject for her. She had taught all her children Galactic Basic and urged them to practice it but at the same time, they were Dathomiri. Their language had to be nurtured.

So, when would she start her training again? Satara smiled. It was that eagerness that made the girl a Hawk and even if she couldn't see it, Satara certainly could. "Soon, hi'ja, soon." The woman merely said to her, not revealing too much. Though it would be soon, she was sure of that.

@[member="Elayne Hawk"]

Elayne smiled at their words, " I know, but don't worry I will use Pacean more, " She was praticly jumping when she heard the answer, she couldn't wait. She loved training, when it was with her mother. otherwise she liked to practice " I know... I am just so young compared to all of you, I wish I could do all the things you can do. " It was funny that she had convinced them on a walk, as she couldn't remember ever doing anything like this before. Elayne was so glad to have her Ina back home. but she sort of wanted to train and then go out there like her Ina and see what the galaxy was like. But she felt like she shouldn't want to. That she should want to stay here, but that wasn't the case.

@[member="Satara Hawk"]

Satara and Madoc glanced at it each and smiled as their daughter insisted on being so young once more. "Wani'yetu tonahca oha sice chikala iyoikiha ekta ohitika na woksape, hi'ja," her mother just told and reached out, her fingers gently trailing over the girl's cheek for a moment. "Your time will come. Do not worry." Madoc added to the girl, unlike his wife using basic. "In the meantime, enjoy yourself. I was never given that chance at your age so I've always insisted on it with all your siblings and I insist with you as well, darling." It was true. Even as a child, with both her parents alive, she was being prepared to take on the role of a clan mother and was never given a chance to play. And when she became a Clan Mother, with her two aunts at her side, it was all about gathering power and alienating her from anyone else who could influence her. Satara would never allow for either to happen to her children.
