No One is What They Seem

The day had so far been nothing but ordinary. With her multiple degrees and talents within several medical fields and even a couple outside of medicine but still very relevant to her backroom projects as well, today she found herself down in the walk in clinic. Seems they were short on staff, so the geneticist/physician had been called down to fill in for an ill comrade. If anything Maddie found herself annoyed at being drug away from her normal department in the genetics office and labs, but at the same time she missed being around patients. At least it wouldn't be the worst day of her life, then again it was only eight a.m. something was bound to go wrong before the end of her shift. It always seemed to work like that for her. However, there was always the chance she could find something truly interesting ... different and worth her while to study, but in this place for someone like that to walk through the door it'd be nothing short of a true miracle.
With a sigh she walked to the nurse's station. "And who's my next project?" She asked with a half-hearted smile. The woman at the desk only grunted at her as she lifted a datapad from the pile on the desk and handed it up to her. "Room twenty-six." Were the only words the nurse actually spoke to Madeline. With a sigh she tapped through the datapad and skimmed over the intake information, digging out what was important from the rest of the mess. Slowly she moved through the floor heading for room twenty six with no idea what she'd find behind that door.
