While Nitro is quite agile, and his chosen style of lightsaber combat, Ataru, encourages aggression, he often found it difficult to reach opponents who were content to remain at a range with his lightsaber. At the same time, he also disliked the idea of throwing his lightsaber; though he had the capability of controlling it easily, the possibility of it being redirected or accidentally destroyed while in flight was always present. Thus, he sought to create a lightsaber that could attack at a range, but with far greater control than merely throwing it at a target. The answer came in the retractable wire system he came up with. While its range is limited to five extra meters, he found that it was often enough to catch an opponent off guard when retreating or even approaching him. Thus, he began to incorporate these surprise attacks into his combat repertoire, singing and slashing more than a few unwary sparring opponents in his day.

- For the most part, Nitro's lightsaber functions normally. Upon depressing a switch located within the lightsaber with telekinesis, however (as opposed to the switch being external, to prevent accidental activation), the two halves of the hilt separate, connected by a five meter long retractable cortosis weave wire that extends with physical force. The front half of the hilt is also made with cortosis weave. It is worth mentioning, however, that the weave is not present in an amount required to shut off a lightsaber, but strategically placed in small amounts to simply deflect it.

- Force Lightning can be channeled through the cortosis weave wire, shocking anyone foolish enough to grab it. Can even be sent up through the blade to focus a devastating, concentrated burst of it towards an enemy close by it.
- Due to the front hilt and the wire being made of cortosis weave, it defends against lightsaber strikes. There is not enough cortosis in the wire or the hilt to shut off a lightsaber, however.
- Shorts out when striking cortosis directly.
