Private Nightmares on Thule

Hearing about the heads being able to multiply, Valery was suddenly quite happy she had only stabbed through the skull in her earlier attack. While it hadn't killed the beast, at least it was hurt and the number of heads they were dealing with remained the same.
"On it!" she called out in response to his request.
Using her speed and mobility to her advantage, she began to quickly move around the large beast. Forcing it to turn, twist, and move in order to even keep track of her seemed to be effective. It couldn't easily spit its fire towards a target if it never remained in one place for very long. She also tried to be as close as possible and deliver small strikes, making it even harder to target her.
But there were only so many places to bounce between, and as much as she tried to keep the patterns she took random, the beast would eventually catch on somewhat. It lashed out with its tail and clipped Valery's foot right as she tried to jump away from one of the walls.
"Gah!" she screamed as her jump turned into an awkward tumble. She hit the ground hard but got up to her feet quickly despite it. However, not fast enough. The heat had already been rising within the beast, and again a sea of flames came out towards her.
In response, she held her hands out and projected a barrier of Force energy to protect herself. The flames wrapped around the bubble but she wasn't in the best position to get out.
She hoped it couldn't keep up its fiery breath for very long.

Quickly now.

Kahlil's brow sweat as he set about mixing the chemicals together. Various bottles, shattered or not, were brought to him with casual flicks of his hand. He looked far more like a mad scientist than anything before, hastily creating something, anything that could help him and Valery Noble Valery Noble deal with the Hydra. It only took minutes, but minutes was too long in his mind. With the vial of an easily flammable liquid ready he turned his gaze towards the fight.

Just in time to see Valery overwhelmed by fire once again.

Fear crept into his heart, but this time he stamped it down. He stepped forward, prepared to hurl the vial. Only, something strange happened. He didn't move from where he was, yet at the same time he stood beside the Jedi Master. Confusion filled his gaze, but he didn't waste a second. Now behind her barrier he stepped forward and hurled the vial. The effect was immediate.

Glass shattered within the creatures maw, and it screeched. The concoction he made immediately combusted, spreading down it's throat, through it's body. The other head erupted with flame as the red glow of it's own fire spread throughout. Within seconds the creature's form was a smoldering husk, and everything fell silent. Kahlil turned his head to look towards Valery, only, he wasn't beside her anymore. Instead back where he was before.

"What in the world..?"

Minutes passed by in which Valery had been able to dodge the onslaught of attacks from the beast. Slowly but surely, however, she was feeling the strain of maintaining the fast acrobatic movements she needed to keep it busy. She had spotted Kahlil doing...something with various vials and bottles containing chemicals, but it was sure taking some time. Whatever it was he preparing, she sincerely hoped it would be ready soon.
But then the beast struck again with flames, and she had found herself trapped within the safety of her Force Barrier. The woman gritted her teeth, felt her muscles tense up and focused all her willpower at maintaining the connection to the Force for this Barrier.
"Come on..." she said with a clenched jaw.
Then suddenly, she felt something strange and seemingly in an instant, Kahlil had appeared by her side, safe behind the Barrier she projected outwards. She blinked and watched him throw the mixed chemicals into the beast's maw, causing a fire to rapidly expand throughout its throat and body.
While the beast died by the very natural phenomena it weaponized, her mind could only be focused on Kahlil, who now seemed to teleport back away.
"Kahlil.." she said as she stood up straight and turned to face him.
"Did you feel that as well? Right before you seemed to.. teleport? Our connecting, our bond." she just muttered a bit - she was confused about what she felt, as it was unlike anything she had felt or sensed before.

He just nodded. What could he say about that? Did he even know what it was that'd happen? He'd teleported before, it was a spell he knew as a Sith. Creating a doorway that folded space and time to punch from one spot to another. It was difficult enough. But this? He didn't even try. Didn't even think to. And it's not like he moved. He stared blankly at Valery Noble Valery Noble for a moment.

Then rushed over to her and pulled her into a firm hug. Whatever it was, whatever the bond was, for a moment he thought she'd died. She wasn't dead. His grip tightened as he lifted her from the ground, eyes closed as he muttered a thanks to some god that he'd been wrong to think she had died. Then lowered her. ".. I'm sorry."

Valery let out a heavy breath and tried to collect her thoughts so she could begin to process what had happened. But from the corner of her eye, she spotted Kahlil rushing over, and before she could say anything, he pulled her into a tight hug. She squealed a little at the sudden embrace but quickly relaxed into his arms.
She rested her head against his chest and while she didn't say anything, her emotions betrayed the 'I'm glad you're okay' she felt inside. When he set her down, she looked up into his eyes and did what she always did, even in difficult times - she smiled at him.
"It's okay, we're both alright," she said.
Her eyes then wandered around the room and for a moment, she would frown. "Are there more of these beasts here that we should take care of? If not... I think it's best we go. The idea of potentially randomly teleporting in dangerous situations scares me."

They both were alright. That's what mattered. He nodded once in agreement, but he wasn't in the mood to smile. Even for a moment, he'd let himself succumb to the fear and anger. His saber rested on his hip, where it'd probably stay for a while. It wasn't going to work, not for a while. Not until he calmed himself again. His eyes closed as he nodded again. They needed to leave.

"Right. We.. I don't know if there's anything else. There might be. We should head back through where we came. The sithspawn there should still be afraid of us."

While Valery disliked leaving this place behind before ensuring the dangerous beasts were purged, something was going on that could make this endeavor far riskier. So somewhat reluctantly, she nodded in agreement and ignited her lightsaber again, this time to use it as a source of light while they backtracked.
"I'll take point." the woman said as she began to move forward, hopefully with Kahlil close behind her.
Unlike before, they only had one lightsaber as a light source and to scare away the Sithspawn spiders they encountered earlier. But it was unlikely that those simple beasts would catch on to their current state.
"When we get back, we need to figure out what's going on between us," she said after a moment. "It has something to do with our bond, but we can't allow it to be so uncontrolled. As much as I like you to be close, that was a little unexpected," she said, trying to make light of the situation.

"When we return to.. Friendly space I'll look into what this is. I don't.. Know what it is." He knew of bonds in the Force. Rumors, stories, the like. And he knew he had some kind of bond with Valery Noble Valery Noble . But this? Nothing in his reading, in his time as a Sith or more recently as a Jedi. He followed after Valery Noble Valery Noble , keeping by her side and keeping an eye out for the spiders. He couldn't use his saber, but he could help to protect her.

Help protect each other.

He pulled out a glowstick, helping to light the tunnels as they walked through them. Sure enough, none of the spiders bothered them. The return was quiet, quick. Kahlil sighed once they were outside. Death still clung to their surroundings, but at least they weren't in the facility.

".. So.. Back to the shuttle then?"

Valery nodded, "I'll look into it as well when we get back." she smiled faintly and began to move back towards the maze with him at her side. She knew he wanted to protect her, but the lack of a lightsaber worried her, so she made sure to be one step ahead of him at the very least.
But luckily, none of the Sithspawn spiders attacked.
The two managed to get outside the building and while Kahlil began to speak, Valery suddenly dashed towards him and wrapped her arms around him in another hug. Even though they hugged inside the facility, it was only now that they were truly safe.
"Yes.. let's get out of here," she muttered as the side of her head rested against his chest.
Following the hug, she'd head back towards the shuttle with him, thus ending their adventure on Thule. But many more awaited the couple.
