Bubblegum Love
"Ya know what's crazy?" a distinctly feminine voice called out. "Having all the parts necessary to build a mecha and it being illegal. I should find a planet bereft of all life -- like one of those naughty Sith with their super sekrit dungeon labs -- and build it there where there are no laws. I mean, why can't I build a mecha? We got actuators. We got miniaturized infinite power plants -- and don't tell me a power plant the size of a crate able to produce peak power for a lifetime isn't infinite. We got droid brains... everywhere. The controls are easy!"
A pink woman stood with her hands on her hips and her eyes on an engine being lifted into position alongside a ship in dry dock. The rest of the Engineers nearby listened to their Zeltron supervisor and instructor rant about all kinds of things throughout the day. Sometimes she even got responses! Those were the best conversations. Cali loved to talk, but she was at her best when others responded.
Suddenly Cali's head snapped to the side. "Huh?" Her head rolled to one side and her brow actually furrowed, which was an extremely odd sight. Suddenly her eyes widened. "Hey! Hey! Everyone get off the support pylon! Go, go, go! Move it," she cried with her hands flailing in the air for visual attention.
A metallic squeal pierced the air and the ear drums just before the arm suspending the engine started to buckle.
Cali danced in place before she reach out with her hands toward the engine with the Force. Strained noises followed as she started to lean forward, and then crouch as if the massive weight were actually in her grasp. "Oh, no. Come on, you can't fall down there. It'll take forever to replace," she said through the strain. It needed to be set down safely. Bad enough they'd have to replace the crane. Who failed to check the crane, anyway?! And why hadn't it told her... okay, so bolts weren't chatty even to someone with her skill, but it could have given her a hint sooner!
