Description:
As part of a new effort to attain technological superiority in the galaxy, the Galactic Republic launched the Hope Program in 836 ABY.

The Stazi-class Fleet Carrier was one of the premier ships of the Hope Program. Its name came from Gar Stazi, whose valiant contribution to the war against the Sith saved countless lives and ensured democracy's future. Ships of this class were typically named after non-Jedi Galactic Alliance heroes from the period of time near the Sith-Imperial War and Second Imperial Civil War.

The ship was designed by the government owned Republic Engineering Corporation. Just as with any other major project, the Republic Engineering Corporation outsourced certain parts of the ship to other companies to expedite its design and production. Kuat Drive Yards helped with the engines while other companies helped with weapon, communication, and other systems.

One notable part of its design was the similarity of the hull and size of the ship compared to the Kol-class Star Defender. The Hope Program was meant to standardize certain ships to allow ease of designing and building them. Due to this, the Fleet Carrier's hull had similar strength to the Star Defender's. However, its shields were poorer compared to the Star Defender.

Compared to the Kol-class though, the Stazi-class had considerably less weapons than the Star Defender. Instead, the power systems and space meant for weapons had been cleared out and removed in place for hangar space. This allowed for the Fleet Carrier to carry an amount of small starships comparable to the historic Venator-class Star Destroyer.

However, the Fleet Carrier had a slightly less efficient means of deploying starfighters compared to the Venator. It could not open its hull as the historic ship could.

Due to the light armament of the ship, the Fleet Carrier normally stayed in the back of the line during an engagement. It usually required the assistance of other ships to draw firepower from enemy ships as it launched its fighters. Should the Fleet Carrier find itself in direct, close-range combat, commanders' first reactions usually involved running.

The Fleet Carrier also served as a command ship. High strategic and tactical command typically stayed aboard this ship. Jedi mean to perform Battle Meditation would be housed on this ship as well. For enemy fleets that knew this, it made the ship a very valuable target whenever it entered a system.

Working together with the Kol-class, the Fleet Carrier provided the massive starfighter support the Star Defender needed as the Star Defender provided the front line. The provided both ships the ability to provide a long range punch against enemy Star Destroyers and also attempt to assert space superiority with their starfighters. With the Fleet Carrier also able to enter the atmosphere of planets with standard gravity, it could also launch its gunships to help assault the ground. Yet, the Fleet Carrier's main focus remained on commanding the fleet and its starfighters.

IMPORTANT ROLE-PLAYING STUFF:

The Galactic Republic will not be offended if an individual or Minor Faction procures this ship if the following conditions are met:
  • The ship was introduced in a thread open to the entire Republic by a Galactic Republic character in a situation that would reasonably require the ship's presence.
  • The individual or Minor Faction successfully gains control of the ship in that situation, and also allows for adequate chance for Republic characters to impede their progress.
  • The ship was not, in-character, freely given or sold by a Republic character unless the Writer of such character understands just the attempts of such actions will result in their character being arrested, executed, or banished from the Republic.

If the Galactic Republic feels that any party has unfairly acquired this ship, a Role-Play Judge will be contacted.

Any Republic character is free to reasonably use this ship. Understand that this type of ship is owned strictly by the Galactic Republic's military. Attempts by Republic characters to go rogue with this ship will end with the Republic attempting to forcibly reclaim or destroy the ship.

Probably want your fight capacity divisible by twelve. However, love that it is just a number and not specific fighters, as I said in another thread, hanger space is hanger space.
