New Beginnings

Er'in shrugs slightly, not objecting, but not disagreeing either.

"I don't know Dathomiri tradition that well, but you won't find me disagreeing that anyone who places sorcery... off-limits is narrow minded, bigoted and unable to see much beyond their own cultural biases."

She doesn't sound like she disagrees, if anything she sounds to be in reasonable agreement.

"But there is virtue in caution with the dark magics - it is there to be controlled, not to control us."

Fawn rolled her eyes with a smug, overconfident look plastered over her face.

"I wish it luck in trying to control me," she said. "Seems like nothing can. Seems like nothing ever will." She took another sip from her cup. "I wouldn't want it any other way."

Er'in gives Fawn a look that varies between approval and caution.

"That sounds very Sith of you." Is her only vocal response. "Look, lets cut through some of the flirting. Are you interested in my offer of the Academy or not? I can put you in touch with some other Dathomiri witches and the budget is a little higher than you might find scrounging the streets here."

Unable to hold back a grin, Fawn says, "But flirting is what I do best..." She knew there was something more important on the table at that moment, and it wasn't either of their drinks nor the centerpiece.

"It's new, it's tempting, and I do miss my fellow witches. Count me in so I can be done with this dreary city already."

Er'in lets out a snort of laughter.

"It's nearly a week long flight and there's just you, me, the droids and a luxury starship. I'm pretty sure we can get through both the flirting and the bitching phase." She remarks casually. "Okay. I've got one more stop to make, then we can leave this... well, you put it quite accurately with dreary city."

She looks around.

"No, couldn't live here."

She tosses some coins which over appoximate the bill onto the table, then stands.

"Paying for a meal and offering me a ride..." Fawn said with a playful grin. "This might be the best date I've been on in quite some time."

She hooked her left arm around Er'in's on their way out, gesturing with her hand the way forward. "If my lady would be so kind as to take me to her ship..." She was charming when she wanted to be, that much couldn't be denied. A sense of humor had grown from her skepticism and cynicism over the course of her life, and she would use that to her advantage whenever necessary...

And yet she was always aware of what lied underneath all of that. Turmoil, frustration, a fondness for someone she knew she wasn't allowed to have. None of her relationships, if they could even be referred to as such, had lasted, and it was almost always her own doing that ended them. Yet she persisted, continuing in an effort to fill the space in her heart no matter how irreplaceable that space was. Anything temporary, even if it was dangerous.

Even if it involved traveling across the galaxy with a stranger.

"One does try to impress..." The Hapan replied, keeping her tone light but reasonably sincere.

The Jade Dragon was sure sign of luxury, it was also an interesting sign of luxury, because - for all that Fawn had met Er'in for all of a few hours by the time they negotiated the spaceport, it was fairly obvious the ship wasn't in the style of luxury it's owner would prefer, as if the vessel were simply taken from a pool, or that she had never gotten around to customising it. Oh, it was sinfully luxurious - that was the point, it wasn't exactly fast, well armed or stealthy (although it was... definitely armed) but between the souless droid crew and the... very standard 'galactic luxury' style fittings it seemed... out of keeping. Not even a single element of Hapan art, no obvious Sith or Witch decorations (except a book lying in the lounge which proported to be a history of archelogical digs of the proto-Sith).

As for Er'in's opinion's on romance, she was, at the tender age of 19, long past cynical and into bitter and jaded. Not only will Hapes do that to a girl, but the collapse of everything you hold dear and the rejection by many of those who professed affection when one was rich, noble and beautiful rather than one or two of the three rather gives one a cynical perspective on life. Always hidden behind smiles and pleasantries, banter and conversation of course. But it's human nature to let your guard down to some extent...

... particularly when your ship has a class four hyperdrive and long distance to travel. She really, really had to get her own ship. Really her own ship, not a CIS luxury boat.

Fawn whistled as her eyes scanned the interior of the Jade Dragon, her hands tucked away in the pockets of her pants until one was raised to lower the pink hood atop her head. "Quite... impressive... indeed..." she muttered under her breath.

"Do I get my own room in this thing?" she asked as she turned back around to Er'in. "I've had my fair share of couches to sleep on and, don't get me wrong, I'm sure any couch in this place would be leagues ahead of the kind I once bought from a junk trader- don't ask, it got stolen anyway- but it's been a couple weeks since I've had a bed, y'know?"

While she may not have been intentionally seeking pity out of her sad little confession, if it helped get her a room, she wouldn't complain...

@Er'in Tenel

"I think we can manage that, well, when I say we I mostly mean me - I shouldn't really effect the royal we. There are staterooms for... important dignitaries, I suppose. The only one that's in use is that one..."

Er'in points casually towards a door no different to any of the others that line the main corridor of the vessel.

"... thats where the terrible duo, my, ah... well, I'd be lying if I said they were bodyguard droids. Lets call them protector droids... that's where they like to reside. They're not keen on people. I won't lie and say they're quite harmless, but Evie and Rosie won't do anything. They're in power down at the moment anyway, I... well, they can be a bit of a drain on my patience."

She seems almost, nearly, kind of fond of whichever droids are being stored out of the way - the 'bodyguard' droid she had was returned to the ships automated crew.

"The CIS is... very keen on droids. You get used to it." Er'in tabs open one of the rooms to reveal the immense (even by shipboard standard) opulence. "It's a bit... souless, I'm afraid. But it beats the feth out of being creditless. If you need anything, ask Carol - er, thats C-R0L. She's the ships steward, and also the cook. Which is good, because I never learned and the survival ration packs are awful, even with this much money spent on one ship."

"I suppose that's fair enough," Fawn said, letting her very few belongings, one of which was her glorified stick of a witch's staff, down in her temporary quarters before returning to Er'in.

"This is like a vacation, eh?" Fawn said with an unusual amount of excitement in her room. "Well, maybe not for you, but I haven't been in a luxury vessel before in my life. I set one on fire, sure, but that one belonged to... just a terrible woman. The worst." It was one of her many past lovers who she wasn't going to reveal to Er'in out of fear that she would get the idea that Fawn was some sort of vengeful ex. She was, but she didn't want Er'in knowing that.

"I learned to cook, just not very well. You use what you can get on the streets, though, eh?"

That was okay, Er'in was a terrible ex too. It would all be perfectly fine.

Until the explosions happened. Even then, they might both enjoy the bonfire in their own rather depressing ways. If Er'in knew what normal was, she might aim for it, but she'd never been within a light-minute of normal.

"I suppose so, or I should say, I suppose I would. A very horrible man came along and made me a deal I couldn't refuse before I had to find out."

She remarks casually.

"You'll meet him soon, he's lovely... for a Sith Lord and galactic ruler. Very... progressive."
