Description:
Companion Esk - Worlds of the Tusk
Companion Esk World of NW -3 is One of the most technologically advanced worlds, NW-3 is at Renaissance level, with gunpowder and early steam technology, all tightly controlled by feuding noble houses. Dominant species include Twi'lek and Epicanthix. The Force is venerated and studied 'scientifically.'
It was during Chloe's excursion to NW-3 that she discovered a vast technological expo fair currently going underway. Here various Epicanthix Scientists and Inventors would bring in their inventions that they have been working on for the past year, seeking to gather admiration and respect from their peers -- maybe even make a couple of credits for their trouble! Or better, a grant!
The Neuraneutro is no different! With the inventors convention being a cut-throat scenario, Twi'lek inventors wanted to come up with a way to be able to handle their mentally blocked Epicanthix counterparts ( they had yet to realize it was an inability to manipulate through the Force) they attempted to come up with a manner of being able to erase the memories of a would be potential competitor.
As the Force is studied 'scientifically', the true reason that the Tsil is a mineral based life form has not been discovered as of yet, and they are merely seen as a sort of energy spook crystal able to allow those who are Force sensitive to understand a different language. Tsil, unknown to the inhabitants of NW-3 could reflect and amplify light and life energy. This increases the Force sensitivity, and as Tsils communicated via telepathy by putting images in another's mind. Oldtimer religious leaders known as "Listeners" could hear these "voices.
Seeking to make use of this ability with the spook crystals, this series of prototype devices are about the size of an average cigar tube that gives a bright flash which erases the memories of the past hours, days, weeks, months or years, depending on the chosen settings -- that is, if it doesn't accidentally fry TOO much or TOO little. It is a work in progress!
It essentially uses the Tsil as a method to hypotize with a bright light flashing series of light, combined with a electromagnetic wave field which disabled the victim's thought processes that would stimulate a hypnotic induction, making them susceptible to suggestion and implantation of false memories. The length of memory erased can be changed using the small levers and dials on the Neuraneuro. Much like the Hapan Gun of Command, the neuraneutro makes it difficult for targets to distinguish between their own thoughts and that of the wielder.
However, there is a time limit to comply for it to work, leaving a maximum of 30 seconds to supply new memories to replace the ones they've just erased. After being neuralyzed, the targets will forget the events that are meant to be removed from their memory. But these can still be familiar to them, and the witness sometimes gets déjà vu.
An attempt at mass memory wipe isn't advisable, as this works best with one target only.
Strengths
- Is able to work much like a Gun of Command and memory wipe combined.
- Can dial specific time frames between minutes, hours, days, months, and years. (This is based on suggestion and what the target's writer is willing to go along with! This is not an instant GM toy )
- Small and concealable.
Weaknesses
- Suitable for one target, more than than a group of two not recommended.
- As it is a prototype, might not work TOO well -- give or take a few days or so depending on the writer of the target for story-line purposes.
- Requires suggestions to be done within 30 seconds.
- Requires dark tinted goggles to prevent from the wielder to be flashed themselves.
- Rare -- and I mean RARE.
