Within the Pit of Snapping Mouths...
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

[*]Canon: N/a
[*]Links: Vaults of Gluttony
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Rift Name: Voracitos
  • Rift Alignment: Dark
  • Location: Within the Final Vault of the Vaults of Gluttony, deep beneath the capital city of Lorrd
  • Destination: It leads into a previously unexplored section of the Netherworld, that until the sorcerer Darth Voracitos ripped open reality into the realm of the dead, was formless and without shape. Through careful use of his powers, and filling it with souls collected from other portions of Chaos, his implicit consciousness began to fill into this new realm, until it became a unique reality in its own right. Enter into the mind of Voracitos' spirit.
  • Direction: The Rift allows for travel across it both ways
  • Size: Small
  • Accessibility: Deep within the networked Vaults of Gluttony, there are few places in the galaxy as well guarded and shrouded in obscurity as the Final Vault, where the Rift was formed. On the other side of the portal however, it isn't certain just how far away the realm of Voracitos is from another hellscape in Chaos, it may well be very close to many different places...
  • Description: Generally speaking, the realm of Voracitos takes on the appearance of the fleshing innards of a truly gigantic stomach, typically with many mouths in unexpected locations attempting to swallow up the meek and unwitting. The place is damning for the strong of will, trying to trap them and break them. To those who give in to temptation though, shall find the realm rewarding, allowing their appetites to be satiated by the Fruits of Gluttony.
NETHERWORLD INFORMATION
  • Gate: The gate is so far exclusively located in the Final Vault of the Vaults of Gluttony in real-space, and the gate within Voracitos is also seemingly far removed from the other spiritual locales of Chaos, though time may tell if this remains true.
  • Lucidity: The realm of Voracitos is not as lucid as it might first appear, the landscape changes heavily on how ravenous the visitor is. If they are meek in their ambitions the realm itself shall seem to work to consume them, but if their voraciousness should prove greater than it, the realm shall be made still.
  • Hostility: The denizens within Voracitos are cosmopolitan, coming from all different parts of Chaos: the fields of blades, the blood waste, sinner's despair, etc.. As such, there disposition is unpredictable, but usually hostile. Typically, the landscape is more hostile than the souls it contains.
RIFT EFFECTS
  • Hunger and fullness, poverty and opulence, those who walk through the rift into the Netherworld will sense in themselves an attraction to their own tendencies. The hungry shall be the hungrier, the desperate more desperate still, and the depraved shall see no end to their twisted desires. Likewise, the comfortable shall find the means to greater comfort, and the wealthy will seek more wealth still, at the expense of everything else. The Rift attracts in the individual their own exaggerated behaviors until those behaviors are all that define them, so long as they remain within the realm of Voracitos. The darkness that pervades those who walk through into Voracitos is one of insidious infiltration, which twists all behaviors to ones of ever-increasing consumption, in whatever form it may take. For those who manage to resist those effects, however, will find themselves unwelcome by the landscape itself which will twist itself into non-euclidean shapes to detain and consume those who do not share the ravenous ambition of Voracitos. The secret to passing the Rift without harm, is to give in.

POINTS OF INTEREST
  • The Pit of Snapping Mouths - A stomach filled with acid, and more mouths with more stomachs with more mouths. Such is a short description of those caverns which make up the Pit of Snapping Mouths. Always trying to bite the flesh which contains them, and the flesh of those lacking ambition, attempting to devour the weak.
  • The Roads of Lashing Tongues - The voice of Voracitos whispers to all those who travel the Roads of Lashing Tongues, secrets and the mundane clash over the warbling pathway of slimy flesh. It is said the Roads in Voracitos taste the character of those who walk upon them, and judge them accordingly...
  • The City of Gnashing Teeth - No where in Voracitos is the realm more paradoxical than the City of Gnashing Teeth, where towering constructs of sharp bone protrude from the slimy-soft surface of the ground, and collide against each other, destructively collapsing the other. Strangely despite this, there is always another toothy protrusion standing to do just the same ad infinitum. While these "gnashing teeth" continue their cycle, their scraping against one another produce shrieking words in the voice of Voracitos to echo outwards through the realm.
  • The Body of Voracitos - Encircling the Pit of Snapping Mouths, beneath the Roads of Lashing Tongues, and supporting the City of Gnashing Teeth is the seemingly endless rotundity of a fleshy expanse with folds and curves for as far as a mortal or spirit may travel. You may walk in a straight line but find yourself encircling the whole of the realm of Voracitos, for the spherical of the environment itself is without end, even if it should not visibly extend to the distant horizon. Or at least, that is what happens to those who continue to refuse to give in to temptation, those who freely indulge themselves shall find the body of Voracitos perfectly euclidean, and travel-able to the distant beyond.
  • The Grove with the Fruits of Gluttony - Randomly distributed throughout the realm there seems to be strange pathways that lead instantaneously to the same place, a strange grove full of trees and bushes made of meat and bone, with enticing looking fruit hanging below them. The entrances to this grove appear wherever an individual has submitted to themselves, allowing anyone from anywhere within the realm to travel to its bizarrely idyllic conditions (despite its often horrific appearance). These fruits are no traps however, they are in fact the reward for giving in and submitting to the realm. They grant visions of that which the eater desires so viscerally real they cannot distinguish the experience from natural memory based in reality. Such experiences can often become, addictive...

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Ever since returning from the Netherworld's Garden of Thorns long after his death, during the Akala Crisis in the flesh and blood, Voracitos has been clinically fascinated by the realm of the dead. Dabbling with the sorcery associated with souls as the Emperor prior to his death, the binding of spirits had become something of a hobby for the rotund Sith Lord. It came to such a point that upon his death his soul was actually fractured, bisected between his id and his psychological super-ego. Although the id of his soul slumbered within the netherworld while the facsimile of Voracitos attempted to wreck havoc on the galaxy, once it woke up it set out rectify the situation via consumption of his own spirit. Once it was completed, however, there still seemed to be something missing within Voracitos now that his soul was supposedly reunited.

Thus the Sith Lord resolved to travel back into the Netherworld, to recover what he might have lost. During the trek however, he utilized his growing power and skills to capture and bind the spirits of countless souls he came across as he traveled deep into the Netherworld, swelling in arcane unnatural power. Upon his return, in order to stave off the madness of containing so many souls at once, he distributed them to his servants, forming his Coven of Gluttony. With eyes, ears, and hands in all corners of the galaxy, Voracitos begun to collect and amass an impressive stockpile of strange and bizarre artifacts. Locking them in his vault for study, the Sith Lord began to experiment more and more, until all of his time was absorbed in his studies beneath the capital city of Lorrd, in the Final Vault of Gluttony.

The self-proclaimed preeminent master of "Nethermancy", the Sith Sorcerer dabbled in Sith Magics few mortals have touched, and no mortals were ever supposed to touch. With the help of ancient artifacts, countless Sith Spirits, and sheer raw power, resolve, and academic principle, the Sith Lord ruptured the limits of reality. A rift formed before him, raw in its power and without form, unlike any place he had seen in the Netherworld previously... upon stepping threw, he became a precipice of energy which disturbed the untouched pond of this unexplored section of Chaos.

Suddenly, the very psyche of Voracitos began to warp the reality he found himself within. The proto-realm of Voracitos was at first, small and weak, hardly anything worthy enough to study. With time, however, and persistent use the realm of Voracitos began to grow and expand. To establish its presence within the Netherworld of the force, Voracitos began to release some of his bound spirits into the realm, hoping their occupancy would feed to it a primal power over the local reality. Soon, his little "experiment" had become a wholly new and unique form of reality, filled with denizens both obedient and hopelessly ensnared in his trap.

Smiling with pleasure, the Sith Lord vainly proclaimed the new realm of Chaos by his own self-made title: Voracitos!
