- Market Status: Closed Market
- Model: Net Caster Mine Clearing Device
- Modularity: Yes
- Production: Minor
- Material:
SPECIAL FEATURES
- “Installable on Anything” — the Net Caster can be installed on nearly any ground vehicle that is large enough to house it. Multiple can be installed on the same vehicle provided there is enough space.
- “Long Range Net” — eight missiles launch at the same time trailing behind them an explosive netting that lands in a pre-desired shape such as a square, octagon or rectangle. The net detonates once all missiles hit the ground or by the operator’s command.
STRENGTHS
- “Clears a Wide Area” — the device is able to clear large areas at once making it useful for quickly removing minefields or clearing a path through one.
- “Long Range” — thanks to the explosive netting’s missile propulsion the device has a long range allowing for the net to deployed far away from its host vehicle. It’s max range is 30 kilometers.
- “Safe to Use” — the device can be fired from inside its host vehicle making it very safe to use.
WEAKNESSES
- “One Time Use” — the device can only be used once before reloading.
- “Complicated Reload” — the explosive netting must be reloaded in a specific pattern to avoid any misfires.
DESCRIPTION
The Net Caster Mine Clearing Device is a vehicle mounted mine clearing system developed jointly by N&Z Umbrella Corporation and the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant due to Mahporeem’s lack of dedicated mineclearing devices. Designed to be installed on nearly any ground vehicle large enough to house it, the Net Caster provides Imperial forces with a reliable and safe method of clearing minefields without exposing personnel to unnecessary risk.
The device operates by simultaneously launching eight missiles that trail behind them a network of explosive netting. Upon landing the netting detonates automatically once all missiles have contacted the ground, or immediately upon the operator's command if the situation requires it. This creates a safe corridor or open area depending on the pre-selected deployment shape. Operators can select from a variety of net configurations including square, octagon and rectangle depending on tactical requirements.
With a maximum effective range of 30 kilometers the Net Caster allows host vehicles to engage minefields from a significant standoff distance while remaining close enough to support advancing ground forces. The device is constructed from a combination of high durability materials including Ersteel 145, Duraplast, Titanium, Duralloy, Doonium and Impervium ensuring it can withstand frontline combat conditions. Its modular design allows multiple units to be installed on a single vehicle where space permits significantly increasing mine clearing capacity.
The device's primary limitation is its single use nature — once fired it must be reloaded before it can be used again. The reload process is complex and must be performed in a specific sequence to avoid misfires making it a deliberate rather than rapid response capability.
