- Resilience to physical damage: The Nerite are balloon-like in structure, making it easier for them to bounce back from physical blows.
- Lighter than average: Not encumbered by the weight of their physical forms.
- Technical ingenuity: Mechanical skills gained by most after thousands of years adrift on hyperlanes.
- Smoke screen: If the skin of a Nerite is punctured, gas billows out to obscure the wound.
- Inability to swim: The Nerite are simply too light to breech the surface of the water. As such they can only float on the surface.
- Lighter than average: Despite having an increased resistance to physical damage, their lighter bodies make it easier to push them around.

- Religion/Beliefs: The Nerite follow a set of beliefs they call 'The Voyage,' a metaphor for the struggles one must face in their lives. To persevere and finish the voyage is to find peace, and Nerites believe that it is important to help each other and strangers on their Voyages.
- General behavior: A species of drifters, not commonly found in groups larger than three or four. Their children don't linger when they come of age, as it is customary for a Nerite to leave the station that they were born on to learn how to provide for themselves. They are a generally kind and helpful species, amicable to strangers and predisposed to help those in need. They are often seen as scavengers, as most do not ever stay in one place at a time and are generally tinkerers.
The Nerite were the lone native species of the planet Neka, a planet rendered lifeless by a Sith-created plague during the Jedi Civil War nearly 5000 years ago. That day began a long journey for the species, a nomadic lifestyle across the stars. It is most common to find Nerites on spaces stations and space ports, working some kind of mechanic role. They do not congregate in large numbers often, believing in proving themselves as individuals. The loss of their original planet has instilled a culture in them where they follow something called "The Voyage," a trial where the Nerite is expected to live a fulfilling life and overcome hardship to find peace, while also guiding others on their voyages. This has given the species a laid back and friendly demeanor. Grudges are fleeting, and often their reciprocity is known to be taken advantage of on occasion. Their biology seems vaguely mammalian, though their skin is more akin to amphibians like the Nautolan. They have special pores on their head that release a thick grey gas, the byproduct of their body processing toxins in the air. This strange ability allows them to breath in the majority of atmospheres, even where other species cannot. The gas that billows from their head often keeps formed together, and some believe how they flow can indicate the emotion of an individual Nerite. The gas is known to smell faintly of charcoal, the burning smell something individuals of other species are split on if they enjoy or cannot stand.
When compared to the average humanoid, the Nerite have flatter faces and a taller stature than average. Their bodies are lighter, as they have several organs for storing gasses that their body takes in. When their skin is punctured, gas is redirected and leaks out of the wound to act like a smokescreen to deter further attack. They are resilient to physical damage due to having a balloon like malleability, though their light bodies make them easier to push around.
