Dude, Sith swords are great if you're a dedicated Dark-sider. They're mega-heavy, though. Like, 2-3x the weight of a normal sword.

Sith swords are excellent if you can handle the weight. And pretty easy to make too, at least for some.

Elijah has been trained with a regular sword, and as such is being thrown off big time by using a blade with no weight.
I was going to write a long post about torque and how to simulate the torque a sword would have with a lightsaber, but then did some quick math and found that you would have to put 6 times the weight of a sword's blade into a lightsaber to simulate how much torque a three foot sword would have.

Essentially, it's impractical since your character would be carrying an object 6 times the weight of a sword.

So, it might be best just to have your character stick with vibroswords or get training with a lightsaber. There are too many benefits that a saber has that are lost by putting a metal rod down the length of the blade just to add weight similar to a vibroblade.

Jak, you do know that most lightsabers have gyroscopes in the hilt to simulate the weight and balance of a real sword?
They don't.

In the book, "Bloodlines", Jaina Solo must duel a friend of Boba Fett's to get training. She uses a lightsaber, he a beskad. After a while, he gives her a beskad. She immediately notices the weight difference on the end; how the blade has weight now, and she has to twist it a little more to get the edge where it needs to be.

Fighting with a sword versus a lightsaber is like fighting with a broom handle vs a rolled-up newspaper.

They don't. Apparently the plasma blade makes a "gyroscopic effect," which is complete bull. What would happen in a simple sense is that it would attempt to keep the blade oriented in a specific direction, depending on how the "gyroscopic effect" is created since it requires a spinning object. Essentially, you could have a situation where the angular momentum of this "gyroscopic effect" is actually seemingly pulling the blade to the side rather than a simple constant pull to the ground.

This would explain why above average strength and training is necessary for a lightsaber, but at the same time it's wonky physics and seems as if it was introduced by using a buzzword no one fully understood. Sci-fi writers don't know science.

Well. Gundam is a world full of the unnecessary and the impractical. Don't pull a Gundam! Just suck it up and learn to use it IC. It might take you a long time but nobody got anywhere without taking baby steps first.

Look, the guyb wants it, and were depriving him of a fun site by telling him its useless. I think its cool,

Here you go, I just added a red color to the edge and added a Smokey/glow
