- Strengths: Ned Rostu has been a faithful servant of the military since the day of the Galactic Republic's reformation. Prior to this, he worked as a security officer for Balmorran Arms. As such, he has a vast sum of knowledge regarding arms, warfare, and military tactics. Furthermore, due to his years spent as apart of Balmorran Arm's staff, he has grown familiar with the ins and outs of the company's operations and is no stranger to the political maneuvering undertaken by corporations. In addition, his years of service have resulted in an excellent physical condition that rivals men in their prime. Lastly, during his time within the Republic's military, Ned distinguished himself as a man of valour and has been hailed as a hero. This reputation has greatly assisted both him and Balmorran Arms; as it aided in securing him his newfound occupations of Senator of Balmorra and CAO of Balmorran Arms.
- Weaknesses: The most apparent of Ned Rostu's weaknesses is that fact that, despite his physical prowess, the latest of his injuries is the direct culprit for his retirement from military service. Due to the nature of his crashing upon Coruscant, he was met with nearly crippling ailments to his spine and legs which resulted in a permanent limp. This hinders his mobility to an obvious degree, resulting in his usage of a walking stick at all times. On another note, though he is versed in the operation of a company, Ned is rather new to the political stage. He is woefully inexperienced, but can hold his own well enough not to bring embarrassment to himself and to Balmorra.
BIOGRAPHY
Ned Rostu is the first and only son of Dex Rostu, the late Supreme Commander of the Galactic Republic's Military. He was born within Balmorra and spent the entirety of his early life there. Growing up, his father had him attend a military academy that was constructed within the planet's capital; insisting that his son be instilled with the hard values that only the military can provide. Upon graduation many years later, Ned did his father proud by enlisting in the planet's local militia. However, after the completion of his first tour of duty, Ned decided not to renew his contract and instead took a job at Balmorran Arms. This was due to the fact that the company offered an exceptionally larger amount of pay than the local government.
Ned worked his way up from a lowly, evening security guard to a supervisor in a matter of months. Then, he became a manager in the next year. He continued to climb Balmorran Arm's chain of command as best he could during his time there, but ultimately had to resign only months after being offered a potential position outside of security and behind a desk. Though money was his main motivation in the company, his father convinced him to enlist in the slowly-reforming Army of the Republic. There, he began to grow up, even though he was a full-fledged adult. Ned excelled at all that he did within the Army, due to his prior military experience and being fresh out of a demanding security job.
For years, he served faithfully, and when his father was promoted to the office of Supreme Commander, Dex decided to bring his son along for the ride. Ned was elevated above his fellows and placed within a position of leadership as a Commando, given an Admiral's jurisdiction over his own ship, and charged with the domestic defense of the Republic. This he did to the letter, and also served faithfully in a number of Republic military operations; including the Battle of Anaxes. However, shortly after this great victory, he was assigned a special mission by his father. He was to escort his father's personal vessel on the way to a meeting with a potential ally of the Republic...yet this turned out to be a trap set by the galaxy's greatest enemy: the Sith Empire.
When their ships exited hyperspace, they were immediately fired upon by an ambush of Imperial ships. Outnumbered and outgunned, there was minimal hope for survival; yet Ned made a number of difficult calls and decided to ram his capital ship into one of the Imperial Star Destroyers; thereby crippling the main battery of the ambush. From there, he herded his crew into his vessel's transports and abandoned ship, ordering them all to retreat as quickly as possible back into Republic space. Ned himself did not go along, as he took one of the last transports and made his way to his father's vessel, liberated the man from the crippled ship, and escaped as best he could. However, the Empire extremely damaged his transport just before they entered hyperspace, and upon exiting, the ship plummeted through Coruscant's atmosphere.
They crash landed terribly...and Ned managed to survive. His father was not so fortunate.
In the wake of the tragedy, Ned retired from military service due to the nature of his injuries and took to recovering back home in Balmorra. He returned to Balmorran Arms and accepted the "cushy, office" job, but was quickly elevated even higher along the corporate food chain due to his newfound "hero status". However, even though he was now one of the main leaders of the company, he struggled with a semi-depression for many months. Without the Army, he felt as though he was powerless to contribute to the wellbeing of his people, and to the Republic as a whole...but that all changed when the time came to elect a new Senator to represent the world.
Ned, out of the blue, threw his hat into the ring and was surprisingly elected! This was due to two main facts: his status as CAO of Balmorran Arms, and the fact that the story of his heroic escape from the Imperial ambush had led to a sort of "fame" back home. At present, Ned now uses his positions in order to protect and serve the people of the Galactic Republic, albeit with a pen instead of a blaster.
