DESCRIPTION
Once, what began as the Defender-class Star Destroyer before being shelved during the tumultuous period known as the Thrawn Crisis and the Dark Empire - both of which occurred in the fledgling days of the New Republic’s reign - was eventually reborn under the first generation of the New Class program. It was an attempt to modernize the New Republic’s armada, so that if another Imperial warlord had risen to prominence and threatened the galaxy, like the Grand Admiral and the Reborn Emperor had, then they would be ready; as they would have the tools they’d need to defend their ways of life.

However, there were complications with the first generation of the Nebula-Class. It was far too expensive to be mass-produced, much like the ImpStar’s of old, and in the end, the Republic Council could only authorize a small number of them being built without crippling their rebuilding economy - despite the expansive and annual plans to construct a mighty war fleet; One that would keep the peace, or make it.

When the time had come for the Nebula to be pushed into service, the warship proved itself time and again against the might of the extra-galactic Invaders; known as the Yuuzhan Vong. Through their superior design and firepower, these mighty vessels were able to help stave off their relentless onslaught for a time and helped push them back when the New Republic was reformed into the Galactic Alliance. Ever since then, the Nebula has found itself deployed on gradually decreasing fronts until the light of civilization was extinguished by the coming of the Gulag Plague.

As the radiance returned, and the Republic Engineering Corporation had found itself renewed; the Nebula II was born. With many secrets of the past lost, and never to be recovered again, the architects of the modern era had to improvise in matching - if not surpassing the original schematics. Thus, there were portions of the first generation that outweighed the past, the most notable being the automated hangar bay holding one less squadron in comparison. This minor drawback was offset by an increase in defensive and offensive capabilities, as the Nebula II was well-armed and more than capable of defending itself against a myriad of threats.

With a deadly combination of weapons and the agility that belies its classification, it was REC’s hope that this warship’s legacy would eclipse that of its predecessor in the days to come.
