A subsidiary of the Nakaioma Conglomerate. Nakaioma Planetary Design is by far the newest of the Nakaioma subsidiaries. Established by Saro Nakaioma himself only ten years ago, the corporation specializes in terraforming, and colonial development. Manipulating, and giving life to entire worlds, throughout the galaxy, wherever and whenever they are contracted to, whether it be by a government, or another corporation. Born initially from Saro Nakaioma's own personal interest in the topic, the corporation has found itself rapidly thrown into a position of responsibility, and of potential for massive growth, as the war with the Bryn'adul has taken a devastating toll on dozens of planets and species. Working alongside the Galactic Alliance, Concord, and now the First Order in the resettlement of the countless refugees that the war has created, Nakaioma Planetary Design has begun planning for large-scale resettlement of endangered species.
Utilizing a great deal of heavy industrial equipment developed and manufactured by Nakaioma Heavy Industries, the firm provides services for both the full "Planetary Redevelopment" of a world, and the subsequent settlement, and development of colonies on said world. Alongside this, it also offers its services for already habitable, and settled worlds, that require mountains to be demolished for further urbanization, deserts to be replaced with forests, or tundra with rainforests, it is in this area that most of the corporation's time is spent, as such large-scale world development is a relatively uncommon request. As such it is more frequently known for this type of redevelopment and design, highly specializing in its climate engineering sector most notably. One of Nakaioma Planetary Design's most profitable assets however is its real estate holdings, which is estimated to be in the tens of trillions of credits, as in many cases, it owns much of the land on the planets that it terraforms.
Like many of its sister subsidiaries, Nakaioma Planetary Design works closely with its counterparts. Most frequent among these being Nakaioma Heavy Industries, HSG Shipping, and Numata Medical. The last of these being in its biotechnology department, as for many of its terraforming projects, Planetary Design genetically engineers bacteria, flora, and fauna to introduce to the world, in-order to build its ecosystem as naturally as possible. Other times it will accept orders to customize already existing species that inhabit civilized worlds, in-order to make them more accommodating to the desires of their clients, whether that be in making them less aggressive, in the case of predator species, or in the case of endangered species, allowing them to breed faster. Introducing desired species to foreign worlds, and acclimatizing them to foreign environments is another related aspect of the corporation's biotechnology department.
Inherited from his father, Szuko Nakaioma, when he unexpectedly passed away. Saro Nakaioma took the reigns of the massive conglomerate as CEO at the age of 38. Where his father was a steady hand, never wanting to unnecessarily rock the boat, in-order to ensure the conglomerate's continued longevity, in the face of an unstable galaxy. Saro had an opposite view of the situation, seeing the chaos that was enveloping everyone and everything as a means to the Nakaioma Conglomerate's growth. Investing heavily in new projects, and innovations in all sectors of their business, and even expanding into new ones. He has become a popular figurehead for the brand name, and is well liked, and feared-when required, among the core elite.
