DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The artifact greatly enhances the scope and strength of illusions a sorcerer can conjure, as well as providing them with additional reserves of Force energies.
Strengths:
  • Illusion: Whoever binds themselves to the Nairidira becomes the master of sentient fears. Nightmares conjured in unison with this artifact are tangible enough to cause physical harm at the command of the user. They last longer and seem far more real than what any Sith Lord could craft on their own. With the Nairidira, a sorcerer can reach farther with their Force, as well as call to life illusions on a much grander scale.
  • Dark side artifact: The Nairidira is so subsumed in the Dark side that just standing in the same room will begin to play tricks on lesser minds. Those who have the ability to harness the Force will find their thoughts turned to destruction and greed. With prolonged exposure, these effects grow in power and can even become permanent. Those bound to the awakened Nairidira will find their reserves in the Force increased by no small margin, but this lasts only so long as the artifact remains active.
  • Shard of Nathema: While some part of the Dark side imbued in the artifact was provided by the sorceress upon its creation, most of its power comes from the souls trapped in its core. The shard of black marble was taken from the ruins of the temple where Valkorion had consumed thousands of Sith Lords at once to fuel his immortality. The splinter carries all their anguish, hate, and rage, providing much sustenance to the artifact.
  • Alchemized: Like most alchemical creations, the Nairidira boasts an exceptional resistance to conventional attacks. Blasters, melee weapons, and even lightsabers will do little more than scratch the surface of this artifact. It also helps, of course, that the sphere is a large and dense mass in and of itself.
Weaknesses:
  • Illusion storms: The Nairidira affects its immediate surroundings with random ‘illusion storms’. Though the user of the artifact will be in the calm eye, everything around it is fair game. These illusions appear spontaneously and last everywhere from a few minutes to a whole hour, making it extremely dangerous to enter the room when Nairidira is active.
  • Heavy: The artifact is large, weighty, and difficult to transport. This makes it impossible to carry the Nairidira around – it must be stationary, thus limiting its use to a certain location.
  • Corrupts the mind: Whether active or not, the Nairidira still remains an object infused with the Dark side – spending a lot of time in the same room will slowly corrupt even the greatest Jedi Master.
  • Ritual sacrifice: Every time the user wants to activate the Nairidira, they must pay tribute to its hunger. Nothing short of a sentient being will do – the more Force-sensitive, the better. The artifact and the user must both partake in the blood of the sacrifice, bonding their Force together for as long as the Nairidira remains active. The user must also provide some of their own blood to this mixture to seal the pact.
  • Charge time: After the ritual is completed, the artifact needs up to a minute to awaken from its slumber and provide its full power to the user.
  • Force light: Like with most creations crafted through Sith alchemy, the Nairidira can be damaged or even destroyed if exposed to enough Light-sided attacks.
DESCRIPTION

In her endeavors to further the reach of the Resurgent Empire, Yidhra had conceived of yet another alchemical creation. Building on the previous successes with the Ananotia, the sorceress enlisted the help of a few fellow Kissai. In a quiet, shrouded affair, their number gathered in the vast laboratories of her fortress, Asijisis diâ Miara, Ari ant Ansi.

They pored over texts, bickered, and – on one memorable occasion – stabbed a b*tch. Instead of disposing of the body in a normal manner (lye, acid, barbecue, etc.), the remaining alchemists instead used him as the first sacrifice in the creation of the Nairidira. A few insolent slaves of the Dottash household joined him in the blood basin, which was then continually used to cool the artifact as they worked their magic upon it.

In the final stretch of the process, Yidhra finished the artifact on her own (the other Kissai had all ‘returned home’). It was then that she enclosed the Shard of Nathema in its boiling core, binding the sphere to a thousand screaming souls for ever.
