DESCRIPTION
The Nagata-Class Corvette, was a light, fast-attack vessel that fulfilled various combat roles when deployed in the void. The vessel was best deployed in conjunction with other naval elements but can operate in a singular capacity. In its stock configuration, the starship was small and compact but boasted a modest armament for its classification and size.

Originally designed for the Galactic Alliance and their New Class Modernization Plan, the Nagata was slated to see action on the frontier, as a heavily armed patrol ship and escort. However, as the program was summarily dismissed, Republic Engineering Corporation had reworked their design to recoup the loss. Bereft of Alliance encryption keys and made into a modular vessel, the Nagata was reborn and ready to be purchased by REC’s eager customer base. Devised with military precision and efficacy in mind, the Nagata-Class Corvette was sleek in its appearance - both on the exterior and the interior. One of the initial thoughts that the technicians held dear in their hearts while putting this vessel on the drawing board was of how ostentatious comforts caused distractions. Thus, as paper gave way to cold, hard steel, the Nagata was forged in a streamlined fashion, where frivolities were non-existent, and everything had its place.

As more and more technology had been dragged out of the dark ages through the twinned efforts of innovation and data reclamation, the Nagata was one of the first vessels in the galaxy that was heavily automated -- without verging into an entirely autonomous starship. With integrated droid brains dominating a majority of the subsystems, and connected to a central computer core, which allowed for the large vessel to be operated by a significantly smaller crew than a standard warship of the corvette classification. This compensated for the natural human reaction time, as the integrated droid brains created a pseudo-artificial intelligence that was restricted to combat operations -- which allowed the vessel to react faster to various combat scenarios through predictive algorithms. That was provided the onboard databases were properly maintained, and the enslaved systems were permitted to process and save any tactical data for later dates.

Its offensive weapons were mounted on outer housings, to fit the larger picture for future upgrades and refit packages. While this was an admitted weakness, having the ability to swap out its armament; after several hours or days of being berthed in a dry dock would reveal an entirely new Vessel after the modifications were complete. Assisting in the ship’s combat function were the installations of the Anti-Emission tracer and the Tractor Shroud. Utilizing both it would make it difficult to trace the Corvette as it made the jump to Hyperspace, and difficult to achieve a tractor lock upon the Nagata -- respectively. Also, the Antimissile Octets and Point Defense Cannons were built into the starship itself, so that no matter which modified variant the Nagata may become in the future - it would always be well defended.

This protection includes the internal shield generators and its electronic warfare suite.

To expand on what’s contained within the E/WAR Suite, it begins with a sensor package that includes the ability to scramble hostile transmissions, as well as punch through enemy jamming. From there, if focused on a single target, the sensor suite was able to confuse an enemy’s point defence weapons and alter the trajectory of locked torpedoes. As Ion weapons had come back into the forefront of the void theatre, the designers at Republic Engineering Corporation had seen fit to blanket the underside of the ablative hull with an Anti-Ion Mesh. An item that would safely divert the charged particles of these disabling weapons along the length of the hull towards the Cap drain -- which would reliably negate the highly ionized particles/plasma of Connor nets and massive magpulse (EMP) detonations.

MODIFICATION SUMMARY:

  • Updated Submission to 5.1 Factory Template standards.
  • Upscaled the Production level to Minor to account for the two High ratings.
  • Added Hyperlinks to Listed Materials.
  • Removed HIMS to comply with new Factory standards.
  • Added Automated Metal Sealant and repair drones to meet REC standards.

[member="Travis Caalgen"] - I have reduced the defence and manoeuvrability rating, and have scoured the sub to make sure everything is copacetic. Hopefully, I got everything. With the edits made, I await your judgement. :)

Please edit Hangar to 'Low'; according to the starship templates, ships of this size and class cannot utilize 'None' as a rating for their hangar due to most corvettes not carrying starfighter squadrons.

However, given the ration of weaknesses to strengths, this ship is overpowered by two ratings, therefore I would be willing to allow you to raise them.

Please remember to include a summary of changes and modifications made to this sub and be sure to tag a Factory Staff member when you are ready to have this moved over once again for live judgment
