TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Classification: Density rifle

  • Size: Handheld

  • Length: 670 mm

  • Weight: 1 kg

  • Ammunition Type: Power cell

  • Ammunition Capacity: 10 minutes per power cell

  • Effective Range: 100 m

  • Rate of Fire: Beam
SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Thumbswitch – For adjusting the strength of the density effect. Conveniently located where the firing mode switch would be found on an ordinary rifle

  • Easy disassembly – for sneaking your rifle past customs, scanners, and other checkpoints

  • Rail-mounted iron sights (backup)

  • Rail-mounted computational scope (up to 10x magnification)
Strengths:

  • Down to earth: The beam projected from the rifle is capable of increasing the density and thus the mass of the target by several orders of magnitude, effectively anchoring it to the ground. Targets become so heavy under the full-strength effect of the density projector that they are virtually impossible to knock down, even for Force users.
Weaknesses:

  • Constant contact: The density effect is only active so long as the user keeps the beam trained on the target. If they release the trigger, choose a different target, or interrupt contact for any other reason, the effect immediately ends, returning the person or item to its normal state.

  • EMP/Ion: The inner workings of a density projector are entirely dependent on electronics. The sturdy housing of the rifle provides some protection from area effects like ion or EMP grenades, but a direct hit will still disable the weapon until the user is able to reboot the systems. Since this requires disassembling the rifle, it’s not something easily done in the field.
DESCRIPTION
Continuing in their exploration of gravity technology, the R&D department of Nadir moved from the successful Tractor rifle to the curious design of the density projector. After several failed experiments, they managed to marry the two concepts, building on the mechanisms already employed in the in the Tractor rifle.

With the Density rifle, the idea was two-fold nonetheless.

One, to give bounty hunters and mercenaries an easy way to pin down a fleeing target; and two, to aid squads in combating certain Force powers that Jedi and Sith alike love to throw around. While the first application is fairly obvious and self-explanatory, the second one requires a degree of training and unit cohesion that is rarely found amongst mercenary groups. Professional soldiers, however…

At any rate, the concept is simple: Forcer tries to yank people around with space-magic; either pin the Forcer down and riddle him full of holes, or pin down your buddies and laugh when his attacks become nothing more than a gentle caress.

And then riddle him full of holes. Foolproof, really.

Considering the purpose and the length of time this is capable of firing for, I'm going to need the effective range toned down to a shorter range. 100 meters to be double the range of the standard blaster pistol and a third the range of the average blaster rifle will suffice.
