INVENTORY

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

  • Nadi leans toward introversion and running as a solo act, and not entirely by choice. The issues caused by her implants make the extended presence of most other people grating and unpleasant at the least, and outright unbearable for individuals that don't appreciate dim lights and a quiet existence.

STRENGTHS

  • Cyborg: Nadi's physiology has been significantly augmented with extensive cybernetic modifications; enhancing nearly all her physical and mental capabilities.
  • Resourceful: A long life spent looking out for herself has given Nadi a knack for keeping herself alive and kicking.

WEAKNESSES

  • Overstimulation: A side effect caused by her cybernetics. She has difficulty dealing with audio and visual stimuli that others would consider normal.
  • Broken Down for Parts: While Nadi may be incredibly resistant to injury, she can still be hurt. In the event that this includes damage to her cybernetics, their repair systems will cannibalize her own flesh for material to rebuild themselves and as fuel to generate power, slowing her natural healing to nearly a third of what it could be.
  • Wanted: There are those in the galaxy who would pay exorbitant sums to have Nadi returned to them.

HISTORY

Nadi has been a spacer for nearly her entire life. She started as stowaway on a freighter passing through a world that was never truly home, doing all the worst jobs once she was discovered. She worked her way up quickly, both in status and the estimations of the crew, but the life of a cargo hauler was not one fit for her. It wasn't long before she set out on her own with what earnings she had made, and took up whatever mercenary work she could come by that wasn't too distasteful.

The merc life suited her fine for a long while, the adventure and daring of it fitting well with her energetic and outgoing lifestyle. She had more credits than she knew how to spend and an endless supply of worlds and stations to spend them on, but nothing lasts forever.

Toward the end of her first century, Nadi was approached by a medical research firm and volunteered to participate in a cellular regeneration study. They claimed it was for "the advancement of cell repair techniques as a replacement for bacta treatment", and the money was too good to pass up.

It was all just a front. They were researchers, but not for any altruistic medical breakthroughs. Instead, they subjected her to significant bio-cybernetic augmentation and an experimental repair system for the same; one that would cannibalize her own flesh to repair damage and as fuel to generate power. It was a system that required her unique physiology in order to function, as installing it in a species without her capacity for regeneration would quickly result in the subject's death. It took many iterations and attempts, some of which she was nearly unable to recover from, before they finally managed to create a suite of implants that worked seamlessly together to vastly improve her physical and mental functions. The suite included a control chip to augment her behavior as they saw fit, as well as a tracking device in case she was ever to get loose.

With these in place, she became their perfect, unquestioning soldier; an enforcer for the cartel they worked for, carrying out their plans with a steadfast focus and heedless determination that would have been the envy of any military commander. It would take years, but eventually her mind began to adapt, granting her brief moments where her psyche was her own again, and it was in these moments that she learned to infiltrate and augment the behavior chip, and then shortly thereafter the tracking chip as well. With those obstacles removed, her mind and autonomy were fully her own again and at the onset of her next mission she deactivated both of the devices and disappeared.

Over the ensuing months in hiding, she made no less than seven attempts to remove both the chips, and eventually the rest of the cybernetics as well, but their repair systems wholly counteracted any such attempts. While her enhancements were significant, the drawbacks kept her isolated and reticent to return to her mercenary lifestyle, so she took a few high-paying jobs to earn what she could, then purchased an old freighter to at least let herself continue to live among the stars she called home for so long.
