Constructed several decades before the end of the Gulag Plague, the Nubia Star Drives Naboo-Class Starfighter was a classic design with roots going back to before the ancient Clone Wars. The sleek and elegant design of the ancient royal family belied a hardy starfighter. Built around two Nubia Drive Yards pulse engines mounted on pontoons which extended from the fighter's bow. At eleven meters in length, the fighter carried a single pilot as well as an astromech socket capable of accommodating a number of droid types. In terms of weaponry, the Naboo-Class starfighter sported two laser cannons and a single proton torpedo launcher. The nose-mounted laser cannons were also equipped with a rapid-fire mode, allowing the Naboo-Class to unleash a tremendous amount of firepower over a short time, making it deadly in close knife fighting engagements. Its proton torpedo launcher also afforded it the ability to take on lighter warships in a group. Its less sophisticated targeting sensors, however, left it unsuitable for atmospheric air support or long-range engagements.
The Naboo-Class didn't come with a long-range hyperdrive by default. This downside along with its aged design solidly solidified it as a system patrol craft for smaller governments. While it was effective against pirates, its light shielding and armor afforded little protection against full military-grade weapons systems. Especially lacking were its particle shields, designed to take only the weakest of blows from debris in space and light ordinance, the vessel was easily shredded by hypervelocity cannon point defense systems and flak cannons. Despite these drawbacks, the Naboo-Starfighter was cheap, easy to maintain, and held an ancient reputation as a battleship killer. Many of the vessels found their way into the hands of the various rebel, resistance, and poor planetary defense groups around the galaxy.
